Croissants are one of my favorite pastries so I was definitely interested in trying one out in Quebec City! I heard about Paillard so that's the one I went to. I found it pretty spacious inside, and they have outdoor seating at this location too. I got the croissant around 1:30 pm or so. I'm guessing by then the croissant might have out for a while now, as it wasn't as flaky as I would have liked.

A bus tour guide recommended this place so I stopped in for a look. Was intrigued by the poster advertising a lunch special with a sandwich and soda, but when I reached the cashier she told me soda is not available with the lunch combo, only tea. So instead I got a pastry, which was incredible. There's a single bathroom for each gender and I had to stand in line waiting near people eating which was awkward. Otherwise a good experience and would return to try other things.

Fresh is best and Paillard does this so right! We were checking out of our hotel and looking for a quick breakfast to grab before heading to the airport. The place is huge when you walk in, lots of places to sit and enjoy you baked good. We got coffees to go and two cheese croissants and a toasted smoked salmon bagel. The cheese croissants were fresh, fluffy, buttery and layered. They just do pastries better in QC than home (Vancouver). The cheese was nicely distributed through the croissant too. My salmon bagel was also a star! So fresh, good toppings and great crunch. The bagel was chewy and delicious too. Service was fast and we enjoyed everything we had!

We came in for a quick lunch and had a good experience. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. There was only one member of staff taking orders. The shop is big and beautiful with a stunning pastry case. I got a ham and Brie sandwich, a chocolate croissant, and a hot latte. The sandwich was a good portion size and very flavorful. The ham and Brie with green apple, onion, and mayo was delicious. The bread was so fresh. My croissant was big and buttery. My latte was good, but despite being hot, they served it in a glass which made it harder to drink. Overall, a solid cafe experience.

Excellent place to get a quick bite and a hot beverage. We got the combo of the day which includes - a decent size piece of quiche (got the broccoli cheddar) or a half sandwich, a soup (got cream of mushroom), a tea or coffee (or upgrade it to latte or hot chocolate for a small cost, we paid ~2 CA$ for hot chocolate with marshmallows). The combo also contained a slice of cranberry almond bread and a macaroon. The service was friendly and the staff were patient with tourists trying to get the best "combo". The combo cost less than 22 CA$ with the upgrades, which was a great deal. Quiche and soup were warm and filling. Hot chocolate was pretty tasty as well. It was a filling meal for 2 people. Ambience was good for a place to get a quick bite and they had restrooms to freshen up on a cold night (it was -20C/-4F outside!).

Great bakery in old Quebec City. They offer everything from your standard croissants and danishes to quiche, salad and sandwiches. This is the type of place you can pick up food for a picnic or just drop in for a quick coffee and sweet treat after a day of walking. Set up is cafeteria style. You order at the counter, pay for your items and then grab a seat. Seating area is spacious.

It's in the busy tourist area serves great food. They were very efficient and there were plenty choices. The table setting was more for sharing then individual group. We enjoyed the bagel combo and croissant combo.

Wide selection of pastries and drinks. The pastries were good. Ordered hot chocolate as well, great taste but was warm rather than hot. Good experience but fairly average for the area.

My friend was craving some pastries in Quebec, so a quick search and we found Paillard. According to their website, it started with an artisanal baker from father to son. Paillard was born out of a true passion for bread. The bakery combines the talent of French artisans with the "American-style" experience. Paillard offers breads, baked goods, pastries, pizzas, chocolate, jams, gift baskets, etc. They boast 25+ years of experience, Quebec company, with "French Know-How". We went twice on the trip in February. Ordered a whole bunch of stuff to try; both times were breakfast / brunch time. My faves were Almond Croissant and Salmon Bagel. Lines are long but the turnover is fairly fast; relatively short wait. Service is friendly. There are several stations to order different items, so you have to pay attention to which station to order what items. Ambiance is casual. Ensemble c'est mon moment prefere. Together it's my favorite moment. ENJOY!!

I came to grab breakfast here and loved all of the pastries that they had! There was a ton of variety and a great amount of seating. I had a blue berry danish and it was delicious!

Paillard offers an impressive selection of pastries that immediately catch your eye when you walk in. I ordered the Paillard Salad with added chicken, and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, filling, and full of flavor. The chicken addition was cheap too! There's plenty of seating available. The iced coffee was excellent. Prices are fair overall, and the service was friendly and helpful, with staff happy to answer questions. You can also dine outside if you want.

Yummy pastries and quiche. So many options. My friend had the combo and she loved it. She has the cheddar broccoli soup and she loved it. Service was also very nice

Inexpensive Canadian bakery chain that does a great job for pastries, tarts and French bakes. It's also very popular for sandwich-soup combos that make this place packed around meal times as travelers like the fast grab, eat, and go option. this particular location had a lot of travelers resting with their families around lunch time, so good luck finding seating if you come around peak hour. If you are trying to try a sample of Canadian French pastry without spending too much, highly recommend this place. we bought 5 desserts back to our hotel to pair with some afternoon tea. Sable fraise: strawberry shortbread cookie- somewhat like a Windsor. Good safe option for those who like their butter cookies. Abricogie- a good safe apricot. based dessert. black berry tarte- good flaky pastry. Definitely a good choice if you don't want something too sweet but satisfies crunch, comfort, and a fruit to balance it out. beignet Chocolat- for those who love sugar, a must. It was heavy for us but we appreciate that it's well made. Mille Feulle Cake- a must for those who love a good creme in middle and the flaky pastry. I would recommend the one with strawberry jam alongside it. it comes without strawberry but I think it's a very heavy option if you don't have the bright strawberry to balance it out. They also had quiches, sandwiches, and cakes. I would definitely try this place again in the future if I had the chance!

A solid choice. Very busy location, but service was quick and efficient. Drip coffee was lackluster, but the food was good.

The menu is not extensive - it's boards on the wall. It makes it very easy to pick or decide if this place is for you or not. We were very excited for crepes and croissants. We were able to get both. We manage to snag enough seats for the 6 of us, we pulled some tables together. It's not a large space, however, there were a couple of parties that had at least 5 people. Nutella, Western, Traditional. Made fresh to order - the kids really enjoyed watching the gentleman make them. They were delicious and beautifully created. The Almond croissant - was flakey and delicious. I would definitely return and recommend.

It feels like culture and more personal. This incredibly flaky, scrumptious croissant makes the crispiest sound of 'em all. Filled with buttery goodness, Paillard's almond croissant is also not to be missed.
