I did the pour class on 7/14 and it was amazingly fun! Am going to do it again. Will post a picture to the FB page once I pick it up.

The only hang up is that everyone who goes makes the same painting, so if you go as a date night, you wind up with two of a kind (obviously a little different). I'm hoping to go again with my mom & sisters. The instructors teach a great class and show you different methods to make your artwork just (ok, almost) like theirs! I bet it'd be a fun time for a low-key bachelorette too!

I couldn't say no to participating since I've seen too many lived ones suffer through breast cancer and treatment. Plus I love being artsy so it was a PERFECT combination of doing good and having fun! There were 12 ladies in the class with all different levels of creativity running through their veins. Our painting was of a vase with flowers in it. I completely took a different (color and style) direction than that of the original painting and was pleased with my results. That's the fun thing about art- do what moves you! The art space itself is decent, comfortable for a group of 12 and I'm sure potentially a few more. But do note that you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get into the painting area. If you're handicapped or unable to walk up stairs, this space is less than ideal. I'm glad I unlocked my art talent once again. It's bee tooooooo long! I'm going to have to hit up an art store for supplies soon so I can make more creations at home. Very inspiring!

I was impressed with her ability to orchestrate the group despite everyone working on their own individual projects! She offers so many different options at each class--it was a truly unique (and refreshing!!) paint night experience! I have been to several Paint Night-styled events and typically everyone follows instructions to create ONE canvas painting. Jessica's events stand out because the participants choose from several designs to paint on a wide variety of materials --allowing people to pick and choose what suits them, and at the level they feel comfortable creating at! This concept is genius, really... I chose to paint a sunflower piece on canvas with acrylic paint, while my husband chose to paint an Alice In Wonderland themed set of pint glasses. If you know us, you know that these two themes are absolutely PERFECT for us--I couldn't have planned it better myself, actually! The people behind us were painting a set of wine glasses, and several others were working on three other designs on canvas! She offers a faux stained glass option too, but I haven't experienced that yet! The hubs likes to attend paint night (for the drinks and girl chat hahah) but he is a self-proclaimed NON Artist. It was so great to have the pint glass option for him.... it was a simple design that kept him occupied almost the entire time it took me to rock out the sunflowers on the canvas. Her class method truly allowed us to "Paint with (our own) Personality!" And even though there were a ton of people, with a ton of different skill levels, working on a ton of different designs...somehow, she kept the orderly chaos moving along...and EVERYone ended up with a masterpiece at the end! I have liked her page on facebook where she shares info about upcoming projects and classes...There are some pretty awesome winter-inspired designs coming up (specifically the one with the toppling snowmen!! haha).... and I can't wait to attend another class and try the faux stained glass option! I am planning an open house soon and am thinking of having her come to do a craft night with some of my guests! Super cool idea for team building and mingling! Thanks, Jessica... for changing up the game a little...and helping us to Paint with Personality! ;)

Jessica has a bubbly fun personality which make her parties creative and unique. No need to have an artistic talent Jess will help and direct you through every step of the project. Looking for an idea for a bachelorette party, office party, or just a night out with the girls, I would definitely recommend Paint With Personality.

Instead, we decided to meet at Whimsy By Kelly--and everyone had a great time! The studio is very convenient (the plaza is on Delaware Avenue, just south of Sheridan; her storefront is on the side facing Glencove Ave.) and there's plenty of parking. While it's in a newer commercial building, the 1950s vintage tables and chairs make it feel warm and inviting--and just the right amount of quirky. For the party, Kelly consulted with me on what kind of activity we wanted to do, and we settled on a Zentangle crash course. Zentangle is a meditative drawing practice that anyone can do--you don't have to be "good at art" to make successful drawings using this method! Best of all, all of our artwork looked different! With the tools and techniques she covered, we were each able to produce something unique. She also sent us each home with a little drawing kit so we could practice on our own. In addition to Zentangle, she also offers LOTS of other art classes for kids, teens, and adults. There's something for everyone, regardless of skill level or experience--you can even do finger painting! We really enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning soon for another group "art night."
