Pakeezah was such a delightful surprise! After a week of bison burgers and fries, this authentic Indian food was exactly what we needed--so delicious and full of flavor. Ordered via doordash. A two minute drive. And a two hour delivery. Which is great because I was thinking, "I'm hungry... let's get food that will be delivered in two hours...." This is the only Indian restaurant doing doordash in Bozeman. This should be a competitive advantage. Instead, it's another nail in the coffin. Update. The food finally arrived. I was starving. I ate the food slowly and reluctantly. The tiny $4 ramekin if Riata (yogurt) was expired. I've been to 100+ Indian restaurants and this is one of the worst. You might be thinking, "tough customer." I'd say, "maybe." The restaurant should be thinking, "there's two new Indian restaurants in town, we either drastically up our game or sink." My husband and I were in Bozeman for part of the day and decided to try this place. We thought only the lunch buffet was available so we settled on that. Everything was good! They had regular and vegetarian options in the buffet. The curry was good, the Shahi Paneer was really tasty, and the garlic naan bread was delicious! I wish it was obvious that the full menu was an option though, because they had a big menu. At least we got to try different things in one meal! I will be honest the reviews had me a little worried. There is a reason they were so busy when we went to grab lunch. The food is delicious and the staff is so nice. The naan is soft, fluffy, and delicious. The ratio of potato to bread in the aloo kulcha was perfection. The seasoning on the chicken was amazing. The chicken was cooked perfectly and juicy. We were craving Indian food and decided to try the only Indian restaurant in Bozeman downtown. Pakeezah was a huge surprise with its posh ambience and great service. Our server was way too kind and helped customize our orders well. We got the daal fry (yummy), aloo gobhi (a bit too spicy for me but I do have a low tolerance), Matar paneer, chicken 65 (was nothing like chicken 65 but flavorful nonetheless), bullet naan (so good), chili cheese naan (my favorite) and garlic naan (staple and great). One of the other workers came to chat with us and expressed how he loved Indian food and was happy to work there was heartwarming to hear. That night I started feeling nauseous 4 hours after eating. The next morning it got worse. Come to find out I got food poisoning. I confronted the owner Priyanka Singh about the situation and she was very concerned and wanting to help. She told me to send over my medical bills when I received them. I didn't have her number saved so I tried to call the restaurant about it. Was put on the phone with some dumbass fucking numb nut who wanted to know all the details about the situation. He gave us a lot of information about local sights and history here along with being an attentive waiter. The food was very tasty. We had Punjabi Chole, baingan bhartha and a lamb dish. Overall rating of food was about 2. Quick breakdown of ratings: Breads, Manchurian - 1. Chicken and vegetables dish - 2.5. Rice - 2 (can't mess this up, if it's fresh and not falling apart) Masala chai - 2.5 (too sweet which can be normal) This ran us around 90 dollars- definitely overpriced for the quality of food. Food quality was below average. Ordered Gobi (cauliflower) Manchurian and it was presented in a very stewy format. It had low amounts of gobi and a lot of stew. Stew is normal from my experience. Also ordered house special chili naan, which basically had chili flakes on top, did not find anything special about it. It was mediocre for the extra 2 dollars chilies. I would not recommend it. Secondary bread - Tandoori roti did not appear to be made out of wheat flour that did not look fresh. It was a bit dry. Chicken and vegetables dishes were a bit salty. Rice quality also seemed not fresh. Service was quick- no issues with service. Ambiance a lot of dark wood but string of lights made it little better. The kitchen was not relatively close to us but we could hear a lot of yelling and utensil noises. I've been here 10 times and in 3 of those visits the chefs blatantly gave me the wrong food. Last night, I asked for paneer tikka masala and deewani handi. Instead of the tikka masala sauce, they gave me just some paneer in the deewani handi sauce (see photo). Also, both dishes had the incorrect spice level. If this happened one time, it would be a mistake. However, three times shows the chefs are either incompetent or just think no one will notice. This is the equivalent of going to a burger place and ordering a burger, but getting a chicken sandwich instead. However, portion sizes were small for both the naan and the samosas. The potato naan also did not have a lot of filling in it. Chicken Tikka was way too sweet for my taste. One of our party liked it, but I've never had Tikka that was sweet like this one. Ruined the flavor for me. The Eggplant dish was just OK. Best dish we chose was the lamb korma. We had aske for hot sauce, to spice up the dishes and a tamarind sauce to go with the samosas (which often come with that sauce). Surprise, when the bill came they had charged $3 each for the small little dishes with maybe 1/8th cup of sauce. Chintzy!! Service was mediocre. The waitress seemed disinterested and they had put a large jug of water on the table. We did not have room for it when the food came so we asked them to take it away. Come to find out the staff does not come back to check on you or refill waters. Making your patrons take care of their own water seems kind of lazy to me, especially when you can see there's no room on the table with all of the shared food.
