At the end of the Western motorway is this rather odd mall I actually hesitate to call a mall. It's…read morean interesting, rectangularish strip of shops (mostly chain stores), cafes, takeaways, a bar, a medical centre and another Event movie theatre. Can't say I've spent a lot of time here, but when I have done, it's actually been pretty good. Ample parking and you can see all the shops there are, so can't get lost really. There's also a nice park at the back of it. I remember grabbing some food from the Hollywood Bakery and venturing out with my friends on a cloudy day to picnic there. Unfortunately, the ultra violet rays were not that friendly, causing me to get a tad burnt and crispy. Woops.

They have a Kmart for clothing and department items, and a Woolworth for grocery shopping, inside the mall! They also had some of the typical mall shops of namebrand clothing, a food court, and downstairs a little convenient store, kiosk, and even a massage parlor! I could've easily stayed here all day and explored for hours on end!

Its also the closest major shopping centre to the Papakura and the Pukekohe regions. Events are always happening here, whether its a magic show, talent show or a musical guest- major props to Westfield for that and for making parents a little less stressed by having something to distract the kids with! Parking here is usually pretty good with parking lots surrounding all entrances of the mall, but fills up quickly especially on late nights and weekends. Apart from clothing retailers, there are also a number stores for footwear, stationery/books, electronics, jewellery and novelty items. Some great places worth visiting include Pandora, one of the newest in the mall and extremely popular- lots to look at for the ladies; JB Hi-Fi, a tech- and TV-geek's dream destination; and LJ's, because they really do make the best fries in the mall. Manukau caters pretty well in terms of menswear, but lacking a bit in womenswear. Without stores like Max or Portmans for a slightly higher-end option (as opposed to Dotti or Cotton On), there just aren't as many options as there were a few years ago.

It is people who are interesting, lead interesting lives and are extremely friendly. Each time I have gone to have a coffee at one of the cafes in the arcade or gone to check out the thrift shops, I have always talked to someone about life and everything else in between. My life has seemed so boring and dull after talking to these people. I love the arcade, as it is under stated, different and beautiful. The coffees served at the cafe at the end of the arcade on the right side are absolutely amazing. The cafe also serves some gluten free and a menu that consists of almost all egg everything. Egg lovers, this is heaven for you. The price for everything on the menu is reasonable, plus $4 for a big slice of freshly made carrot cake is a steal! Apart from the cafes and interesting characters, St Kevin's Arcade also houses some amazingly quirky thrift shops. They are worth a peep!

I do not like shopping in stores, maybe it is malls and the amount of people they seem to attract,…read moreso Rialto Centre is actually okay from the perspective it is so dead. Slowly over the years it has gotten sadder. Despite the fact it is on Broadway, Rialto does not get the foot traffic that the majority of Newmarket attracts. I used to come here all the time for the coffee lounge that was up on the second level opposite the cinema but they are no longer in business and the place is still up for lease. If it weren't for the cinema, Nando's, The Home Store and Euro Style I don't think Rialto Centre would exist. There are meant to be over 25 stores, I haven't counted but they probably need to update their website. Not sure if the sock and hat stall counts. The food court is sub par and the toilets should be avoided. (I cannot speak for the male toilets though). Really you'd only come for a specific purpose, for a specific store like Euro Style or to go to the Home Store because they have no other Auckland locations. It is tough for retail and this mall is representative of that. Osbourne, Nuffield and Teed Street really became the place for boutique retail to set up brick and mortar locations and the mall has suffered. Rialto is a ghost town, but there are a few good reasons left to come, for how long though, that is the question.
