Aloha! Last month my son was sick so I stopped at Palama Express at 1 Aloha Tower Dr. Honolulu 96813 Phone +1 (808) 447-7789 And bought a Häagen-Dazs Matcha Green Tea Ice cream. Later my son taste his first scoop and told me "What is this?!" so I tasted it too and it tasted so awful so I checked the expired date and it said Oct 11, 2022..... My son got sicker after that and I took pix of it to show the manager. This morning I went back there because finally I got time to go and found more expired items in there and the manager refused to refund the money after showing pix because it was last month. I think they shouldn't sell those expired items at the store and refused me for asking a refund.

Palama Express is located at the Aloha Tower Marketplace. A convenience store within walking distance to the HPU dorms...that's really convenient. Inside Palama Express a person will take notice of the checkout counter on the right of the entrance. Fountain drinks, F'real, plus coffee and cappuccino machines straight ahead. Towards the left side of the entrance are the grocery items, Aloha attire clothing, and shirts on the shelves. There's a television screen located above the frozen goods section. There's even a table with six chairs for people to enjoy their paid drinks and snacks. Walking around the convenience store there will be packaged beverages, alcoholic drinks, snacks, personal hygiene products, cold section with deli products, a hot section with bentos, plus a counter with the hot dog grill and nacho machine. I would have settled for a hot dog but none was available. I ended up grabbing a string cheese, powdered donuts, and a can of guava juice. I was greeted by the employees at the checkout counter and paid for my items. I noticed there were small hard liquor bottles and cigarettes behind the counter. As I was leaving the store I also took notice of flat rate boxes along the right side of the exit door. Comes in handy especially during the holiday season. 180/200

This is a small seven eleven type convenience store near Aloha Tower. I've been here a few times picking up drinks and snacks.

I enjoyed everything we ordered (via table tablet), the ttteok (rice cake) had the perfect soft/chew, both sauce and kimchi jjigae were flavored to my liking, and I kept grazing while my (low-ish) spice tolerance was struggling by every savory chew.. so I toggled between the fresh banchan, purple rice, tender slices of bossam, and shots of cold soju (to help forget my tastebuds embered into a small fire), without losing face in front of my spice-tolerant friends. I don't think they noticed... Service was fast and friendly, and the vibe all around was energetic but not deafeningly loud... like I didn't have to shout at my friends. We parked on the street bc the lot was full. This place was busy, and I can see why! Will definitely come back here again (& would not be opposed if we ordered the same things).

Everything came out fast and freshly cooked to perfection. Every dish was flavorful and delicious. I wish the Bossam came with more veggies because the meat to veggie ratio wasn't near equal. They don't have white rice here and only have purple rice which tastes fine. Overall, a bit pricey, but food quality and portions are excellent. Staff are fast and super friendly. Lots of tables to dine at. Parking lot is a bit small.

First off, all the complimentary banchan (Korean side dishes). From the classic kimchi, fishcake, cucumber kimchi, and radish. And if you're dining in, just ask and you can get refills of whatever you want more of. If you're doing take out, they still give you all of the banchan!v We did dine-in but take out / online orders seemed popular. But I loved dining in because of the Ajumma here! She was so sweet and funny, and even made the perfect bite (radish kimchi on top of the meat jun, so the acid offsets the oily fried jun) and fed it to my boyfriend LOL. We got a ton of food! The seafood soondabu soup, seafood korean pancake, seafood bibimbap, meat jun, and zucchini jun. We had a lot of leftovers that we took home. The food was good but it's really the service and love that makes this a 5-star experience.

The tofu was silky soft and fresh, soaking up all the flavor from the broth. The lunch set is a great value--you get soondubu bubbling hot, rice, and banchan that were all solid and well-seasoned. Portions were filling without being heavy, which makes it an ideal lunch option. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out fast even during lunch hours. This is definitely one of those places you crave when you want something warm, satisfying, and comforting. I'll absolutely be back for this again.

The quality of the meat was good. The staff help cook, cut, and serve the food. It is on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Had to call and up the count on our reservation twice, female did that well. They put us in the far back corner and it was warm. Female did come and turn the fan on after a little while, explaining the AC was broken. Fan did help, but I was near the fan. I don't think it reached the folks farther in (there were 8 of us). Three of us ordered the stone pot bibimbap with bulgogi. One wanted to sub BBQ chicken, was told, "no." She had to change her order since she doesn't eat beef. Friend later told me she had been accommodated before, but these seemed to be new owners.) Two ordered BBQ Chicken plates, one the stir fried squid, one kimchee fried rice, one meat jun, a fish jun. Ban Chan came - two sets (one per table of four) of bean sprouts, fish cake, Choi sum, potatoes, kimchee. They were good. Cold water was served, and after a while we were given a pitcher so we could refill our cups, which was good. Food didn't take overly long to come out but wasn't really quick. (There were only two servers and the restaurant filled up quickly.) Stone pot bibimbap flavor was a disappointment. Only gochujung sauce to add, no sesame seed oil, so it was bland. Both of us who got it didn't think it was very tasty. Otherwise, it was nice and hot, and there was plenty of crispy rice after mixing it all up, and it included a raw egg which added some flavor, but not much. I will not get it again. Those with the BBQ chicken said it was tasty and juicy. Meat jun and fish jun was ok. Kimchee fried rice and stir fried squid were very spicy. Flavor was ok. Had to ask for our checks, were told they had only two staff working so they were very busy, but they kindly accommodated four separate checks for the eight of us. Not sure if I'll return. Prices are reasonable for the portion size, but no AC, bland stone pot bibimbap, we're not to my liking.

The premium AYCE option is around $60 per person, which would be reasonable if the quality matched the price. Unfortunately, it doesn't. We're from the Bay Area and have been to countless Korean BBQ restaurants with significantly better meat quality for the same price or less. To make matters worse, even at the highest-priced AYCE tier, fountain drinks aren't included. What really left a bad impression was the automatic 20% gratuity. Our group consisted of two separate parties of three people each. We were seated together at one large table with two grills, but we had separate bills, ordered different AYCE meats option, didn't share food, and made that CLEAR before ordering. The menu states that automatic gratuity applies to parties of five or more, yet we were still charged because we happened to sit together. Had we known this was their policy, we would have chosen another restaurant or sat at different areas of the restaurant. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because our servers were friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions about the menu and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Unfortunately, when we brought the gratuity issue to the manager, he insisted we were one large party despite us being separate parties with separate orders and separate checks. At the end of the day, the only difference was that we happened to be sitting at the same table. Overall, the service from the staff was great, but the overpriced food, disappointing meat quality, and questionable gratuity policy make it hard for me to recommend this place.
