The sign "Provinces Snacks" caught my eye as I was passing by. I had to drive by twice! It was not too far from the intersection of North School St and Waiakamilo St. it was diagonally across from the Kalihi Rainbow Drive in. Provinces Snacks Convenience Store is located after the The Gas Station and Aunty Z's Kitchen if you're heading towards downtown. There was a banner and sign fronting their store announcing their grand opening was on June 25, 2023. There were three parking stalls to the left side of the store as you turned into their driveway. You will find snacks from the Provinces of China. Some snacks/chips which looked familiar you would see at 1-2 buy. I didn't look at everything but bought things that was hard to get and the products the guy was assisting me with. Some of the snacks he grew up on and it brought back memories. I did get these handmade and not machine made rice puff candy, bag of assorted Macau pork jerky and beef or pork jerky candy. The couple were really nice and the guy could understand me best while the wife (I believe ) rung up my sale. Of course they can't give samples of everything but the few she gave, I actually liked and bought some. The li hing items in the jar seemed interesting. It's not the dry type but too bad they don't have smaller size jar. Lol. I did buy the $29 bag of 1 lb pork jerky from Macau. I forgot to take a close up picture of the hours of operation. You can call them at (808) 843-1378. They were open on Sunday mid-morning and they already had a customer who bought more than me! The guy owner hopes to share and introduce these yummy snack to the local community! It was nice to support their new business! It's not a fancy store but a hole in a wall type of small business with imported /specialty products. He took the time to explain their products to me! Great customer service therefore I give them 5 stars!

They also have a small fridge filled with homemade Laos items like fermented pork sausage, jeow bong, etc. The workers are so friendly here, easily making conversation with us and the regulars here. Worth stopping by!

I've been here a few times and each time I come in , the aunty behind the register and the other aunty who hangs out there (not sure if she just hangs out there or works there) but those 2 have ALWAYS been so helpful in finding and suggesting ingredients that I need. If they didn't have it, they always had another place in mind where I might find it. Once I was looking for fresh wide noodles to make Pad Kee Maw ..they didn't have but they suggested the restaurant on the corner had! They assured they sold the noodles plain in plastic bags..and yes, the restaurant sold the noodles! Cheap too! Today's visit I walked in and told them I going to make Tripe Laab.. the aunty behind the register pointed it out and the other aunty told me to follow her ..not only did they show me, but explained what it does and other alternatives that were available just in case the more specific ones weren't available. There was another customer in there at the same time..I'm assuming she was a regular ..she looked at what I put down on the counter ..started talking in Thai to the worker....she then turned and looked at me and already knew what I was going to make .. she ended up telling me to put back when I got and instead told me to follow her and showed me the "homemade better version" of what I first got.. I was so impressed at the help even by a random person who didn't even work there! I'm definately looking forward to making Tripe Laab this long weekend. Fur future Thai/Lao dishes, I will definately be coming back here for the items I need. A must store for Thai/Lao and SE Asian ingredients!

I was a vendor at a recent Christmas craft fair at Dole Cannery and stumbled on Blah's because it was the only food vendor there. THIS. THIS IS WHAT SMOKED MEAT tastes like. Holy smoked meat you guys. You gotta sampo if you ever come across this booth. I think the only way to get your hands on his meat is to visit the air conditioned farmers markets. Yeah, this is my kind of guy, only doing business in the A/C! Basically you have to catch him at Windward Mall farmers markets inside the mall or at these air conditioned Christmas craft fairs. He sells most of it uncooked, so you just have to throw it in a fry pan when you get home. I was lucky enough to get a bento with smoked meat/rice to go, and I inhaled it all. Do yourself a flavor and find this guy and buy a slab of his meat. Get one for me too.

Not only did I love the sample but my 7 year old boy loved it. My intention was to walk through the whole farmers market and come back to get a bento. Well that didn't last long. After a few mins I went back to get my smoked meat bento. My son and I shared the bento and we are both full. Not sure if they use guava Jam or jelly but I could definitely taste the sweet but it was equally balanced with the savory of the what I'm assuming is soy and other spices. The meat was tender and had just enough fat to balance it all out. The sauce over the rice was winner! Mahalo Blahs Bonus: the guy selling the smoked meat was awesome too. Super friendly and even offered my son 2 samples

The store is neat and well organized. In the morning, fresh rice cakes, mochi and other desserts are dropped off by a local bakery. Store patrons rush to get their favorites. I avoided the temptation, but the treats looked remarkable. The store carries what you'd expect from a grocery plus lots of specialty items for Asian cooking. We also picked up teriyaki sauce. There is a food court on one side of the supermarket that offers prepared lunch options (but was not opened during our visit). The clerks were friendly and welcoming.
