We often used to have dinner at Joe's Italian Grill on 412 East/(Robinson Ave.) in Springdale, when it was run by members of our local historical Italian community here in Northwest Arkansas. Unfortunatey, Joe's suffered a catastrophic fire several years ago, and for a year or two, it just sat there, ruined and closed. It has since been purchased and reopened by some Eastern Europeans -- no one in our Northwest Arkansas Italian community involved whatsoever. I feel like we've given it a fair chance, but at this point I strongly recommend against eating there; the food and service have gotten pretty bad. Just a few days ago, we were there, and although the restaurant was not crowded (maybe 10-15 people total, in the two large main dining areas?), it was going on an hour and a half without our having received our food. We asked for a few additional rolls, just to tide us over, but the server forgot about it, and -- ridiculously -- they were only provided as we had finished eating and were ready to depart. A number of the restaurant's employees were just hanging out together at the checkout counter, conversing; laughing, and having a great time (which is apparently more important to them than serving their clientele). I approached them and asked them why our food had not been provided, and the only response I got -- from some strange-looking small fellow with a long ponytail -- was something to the effect of, "Oh, yeah!? Well, you have no idea how busy we are!" read more

Immediately greeted and seated in a wonderful quiet section. Ambiance is very old school Italian restaurant. The bread is so incredibly delicious we had extra!!! The shrimp scampi looked like it would not be enough, but it actually was just perfect. We will be back. read more

This is a very good restaurant. We were greeted and served by friendly staff. Tony was our waiter and he was cheerful and knowledgeable about the menu. The dining room was a little dark, but quiet and comfortable. My pasta primavera was over the top delicious. Sweet veggies in a savory "pink" sauce. My Cesar salad was very good and my wife got hers as ordered with light on the dressing. Portions are such that we were happy to share and still have leftovers. We'll be back every trip to Springdale. read more

We were excited to try this local Italian restaurant but unfortunately left disappointed. Even though it wasn't busy on a Friday night, we waited over 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged our table. After tracking down a server from another section, he ended up taking care of us. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive, and while the menu is very similar to Joe's Italian, the quality didn't compare. The chicken Albanese was watery and bland, another dish with mushrooms was also watery, and a caper dish was overwhelmingly salty. We had planned to stay for dessert but decided against it after the disappointing service and meal. The one bright spot was the rolls--they were just as good as ever. One tip: be careful when exiting the parking lot. If you're turning left, the lane markings can leave you blocking cars trying to enter. read more

I hosted my office Christmas party at Palermo Italian Restaurant in East Springdale last night with a group of 10, and it could not have been more perfect! Every single person in our party absolutely loved their meal -- not one complaint, just happy, full people raving about how delicious everything was. The entrées were cooked perfectly, the flavors were incredible, and the presentation was beautiful. The desserts... fabulous doesn't even begin to cover it. They were the perfect finishing touch to an already exceptional meal. The atmosphere was warm and festive, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our evening was relaxed, enjoyable, and seamless from start to finish. Hosting a group can be stressful, but Palermo made it easy. Our family absolutely loves Joe's, and we're thrilled it's finally back! It's our go-to spot for special occasions, offering some of the finest upscale dining in Springdale. Over the years, I've savored many of the chef's signature dishes--some of which I hope will return to the menu soon. If you're a fan of rich, flavorful entrees, I highly recommend trying anything with their iconic pink sauce. While several of us swear by the perfectly cooked Chicken Marsala, I find that the Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli is the real standout at the moment. Don't miss the bread dipping oil--an exceptional blend of olive oil, vinegar, and herbs that's truly one of the best I've ever tasted. The restaurant's recent redesign is elegant and inviting. I especially enjoy the mesmerizing videos of fly-by and street views of scenic Italian locales playing throughout the space, which add a lovely ambiance. The core waitstaff are experienced and attentive, ensuring a seamless dining experience. High-end dining options in Springdale are limited, but Palermo consistently shines. Though it has operated under different names and locations over the years, the quality and flavor remain steadfast. We went for dinner on a Friday night and waited several minutes at the host stand before anyone greeted us. Once seated near the back, a few other tables around us already had guests. It took about five more minutes before our server came by to take our drink order. By then, we had a feeling things weren't off to a great start, so we went ahead and gave him our full food order at the same time. I ordered the chicken marsala, and my wife had the spaghetti with meat sauce. Unfortunately, neither dish impressed us. The marsala sauce was watery and didn't cling to the noodles, and the chicken was grilled instead of sautéed--it came out dry and lacking flavor. At one point, our server stopped to chat with another table and tried to pull us into their conversation, which felt awkward since we were already talking among ourselves. After that, we didn't see him again for about ten minutes. By the time he returned, we were ready for the check and ready to move on. Overall, the food was overpriced for the quality, and while the service wasn't terrible, it certainly didn't do anything to improve the experience. We won't be rushing back. read more

I went here with my fiancé and best friend. We were all blown away by how good the food was. The rolls were fresh and tasted delicious, and all of our entrees were fresh, warm, and out of this world. The service staff was not only very prompt, but everyone we interacted with, including the owner, were incredibly genuine and nice. The inside was very clean and had an amazing vibe to it.
