Yesterday, I was picking up a takeout order from Plates and Bowls. I noticed this Gong Cha a few…read moredoors down. It was new to me. I decided to check it out after picking up my dinner. I don't remember what Gong Cha used to be. I want to say that it was Telus, but the store can't tell us if I'm right... haha. Anyway, this store is located at SmartCentres Stouffville. It's across from Canadian Tire. This bubble tea store is between a dental clinic and Subway. I have never had a problem finding a parking spot around here. I walked into Gong Cha. I was the only customer. There was a nice man who said hi. He wasn't all that chatty, but was competent and pleasant. I immediately saw croffles on the menu. I love them. I knew that I wanted one. Before walking into the store, I noticed the daily specials. The Thursday special is the honeydew milk tea. It seemed perfect. I ordered a medium, with no sugar and less ice. I also got coconut jelly. The payment machine was sluggish. The man had to reboot it. Once it was done rebooting, I was able to pay with my debit card. I tapped and all went well. He made my bubble tea first. It looked so cheerful. It was green with coconut jelly. I waited patiently for my croffle. He made it in the kitchen area, away from the bubble tea preparation area. I could smell yumminess. I was excited and quietly drooling. I went with a regular croffle with a light dusting of sugar. I like starting simple to begin with. It was packed in a recyclable box. I loved it. I thanked the man for everything and happily walked out with my goodies. In my car, I immediately had the croffle. It came on a stick, which made eating this crispy, hot-off-the-waffle-griddle perfect. It was buttery, flaky, and yummy. It was slightly sweet, which I thoroughly appreciated. I loved it. I want more! I had my honeydew milk tea after dinner as a dessert treat. It was delicious. Honeydew is slightly sweet to begin with. Going with no sugar worked well, especially with the added coconut jelly. The milk made it creamy. This drink truly felt like a dessert drink to me, minus the sugar high. It may be my new favourite bubble tea variety. Whitchurch-Stouffville has lacked a bubble tea joint for years. It's nice that it finally has a decent one. I'll be back for more bubble tea and croffles. It also has waffles that I'd love to try, too. (457)

Service was very fast but staff was not the most friendly, which is fine haha…read more We ordered a pearl milk tea and overall the drink was overly milky and we could not taste any tea. Perhaps if it was steeped a bit longer maybe. The tapioca was a bit undercooked and hard unlike other places but not a deal breaker.

I like how you can see their baking process so you know it's made daily and fresh. Staff were very nice as well. Food They have a few options of cakes and desserts too choose from. I really enjoy their burnt cheesecake that has a few flavors to choose from. The original was the best for me. Their classic soft cheesecake is also a great choice. Very consistent. They also do drinks that helps compliment. So nice to see more desserts spot pop up in markham!

Food/desserts 3.5/5 Service 3.5/5…read more Ambience 3/5 Located in a small plaza just south of 16 past Hwy 48. A small shop with a small seated area with a table and two chairs. A limited display of mini basque cheesecakes in mango, raspberry, matcha, chocolate and coconut. $6.99. The soufflé cheesecakes and mini-rolls were not on display which was a bit disappointing as I shop with my eyes. We decided to try the Soufflé Cheesecake 5" at $13.99, Original or Coconut. I wanted the Coconut but it was not available. We bought the Original so we can try the cake and a mini basque cheesecake, Mango. Total for the two items $27.99. The mango flavour of the mini basque cheesecake was true and so creamy, eaten at a slightly chilled temperature. As it became room temperature it seemed slightly less smooth. I liked it more at the more chilled temperature. I ate it like I might enjoy an ice-cream. The Soufflé cheesecake was very light with a soft crumble texture. I also like the Uncle Tetsu cheesecake which I think has a slightly smoother spongier texture. It also sells beverages which we did not purchase. I would go back and try another flavour mini basque cheese. Parking is available in front of the shop-no issue as there are no restaurants in this plaza. PS No matter how I tried, the order of the photos shared did not post as entered.

We had a day…read moreoff from school and four of us (all friends) decided to spend the day at the Eaton Centre. I planned where and when we would meet, what part of the Main Street subway station's westbound platform we would meet on, where we'd go for lunch, and more. It wasn't down to the minute, but one of my friends said that it was a good quality to have. I also like the off-the-cuff method. On Wednesdays, during this pandemic, I drive up to Whitchurch-Stouffville to get groceries. Before going into the store, I order takeout. I decided to check out UberEats (I rarely order using this app) to see what was around. I found Plates & Bowls. I noticed a couple of items where you could buy one and get another for free. Naturally, I went for it. I got the following items: - Butter chicken, which comes with rice and your choice of side salad (I went with apple coleslaw) - Chicken kabob paratha (I got another for free) - Aloo paratha (I got another for free) Once I ordered through the app, I went grocery shopping. By the time that I was done, it was perfect to head over to fetch my food. Plates & Bowls is located in the same large plaza as A&W, Winners, Staples, Canadian Tire, and more. It happens to be in a small cluster of businesses away from them. It's next to Thai Villa, which I haven't dropped by in eons, but am thrilled that it's still alive and kicking. There was plenty of parking. I backed into a spot and walked into the eatery. I was greeted by a friendly male staff member as I took photos. I said hi, and then said my name and that I had an UberEats order. My order was ready. He confirmed with a female staff member that my order was complete. She nodded. Yay! I thanked him and walked out. Something different happened to me. An older gentleman saw me come out of the store. He approached me (we both had masks on) and asked what I'd recommend from this place. It was my first visit, so I told him upfront. I did manage to tell him what I had ordered. Without even having my first bite, I suggested getting the butter chicken, because you get it on rice and it comes with a salad. He thanked me. We both wished each other a good evening and I headed to my car and he went inside to order. I'm not sure why he asked me. Maybe that hangry look in my eyes worked? Who knows. I got home and was more than ready to wreck my food. I started off with the chicken kabob paratha. OMG! It's such a simple concept of having morsels of tender tandoori chicken, with sauces and onions, wrapped in a paratha. Delicious! I was so thankful that it was BOGO. I had the second one for breakfast the following day. It tasted even better! I had the aloo paratha. It doesn't have a lot of aloo (potato), which was a bit disappointing. However, it was flavourful with the other spices that were in the paratha that I was not expecting. The butter chicken bowl was a generous size. I actually had the remaining half for dinner the following night. This place does a spin on traditional Indian food, injecting western and middle eastern influences in. The butter chicken was fine the way that it was made. However, I specified getting this shawarma garlicky sauce on the side and it made this dish fantastic! I dipped my aloo paratha in it. I put it on my apple coleslaw. I warded off evil spirits. The garlic game is strong here, which I love. The bowl had basmati rice. It was fluffy and done perfectly. And yes, it was subjected to the awesome garlicky sauce. Let's get to the apple coleslaw. I have been eating a lot of coleslaw within the last year. I never once thought of slicing apples in it. It's the spin that I was talking about. You can also get other salads, such as pesto pasta salad. I enjoyed how crunchy and fresh my coleslaw was. Yummy! This place offers wraps, too. There was a Philly steak wrap, which obviously deviates from the main Indian food vibe. It sounds pretty good that I'd love to give it a try. I had a wonderful experience. I hope that the man whom I suggested getting the butter chicken liked his food, too. I will be back. It's nice seeing so much variety in cuisine in Stouffville, which is another reason why I enjoy dropping by on Wednesdays. (409)

Recently, I got to try two of their 6 inch cakes. The earl grey tea chestnut cake with fresh strawberries and the black sesame mochi lava cake with fresh mangoes. Both cakes are AMAZING! I could taste the earl grey flavor and the chestnut flavor separately along with the fresh strawberries, it is a wonderful combination. The black sesame one was sooooo good also. It has black sesame mousse on the outside and the top is like a black sesame lava topped with pistachios and some kind of nutty crumble crunch. The inside has mochis layered within along with black sesame cake, more of that nutty crumble crunch and at the bottom is fresh mangoes. I honestly don't know which one I like better but I am craving either cakes again (I had both within the last 3 weeks haha). The service there is still excellent. Everyone working there is so kind & helpful. The ambiance is nice... it is spacious, bright and clean. I really love going in there and chatting with everyone while receiving top notch service.
