I agree with others about the employees here. They try to sell you lotion etc and not tell you the deals they have and try to get you to sign up for an expensive membership. I only wanted to come a few times for seasonal depression to get some light. The girl didn't listen to that and was trying to get me into the expensive beds. Then had fraud on my credit card and had to cancel the card. I had only been signed up for a month and they tried to charge my card and it declined I came in and paid the balance and gave a new card but they charged me a fee anyways. The manager was not helpful. Just a very dishonest vibe here and greedy vibe so I canceled and will never go back here or give them another dime of my money lol read more

I walked in thinking I would get a free spray tan based off of a website promo. Unfortunately that includes the worst spray tan-- like If you got a deal for a free pizza, but they only gave you the cooked crust and left all the cheese and sauce off. Anyways. Alyssa (who I totally freaked out on) gave stellar customer service and with a smile. She was extremely helpful and kind regardless of my attitude and my not knowing anything about spray tans. I was not informed of a recurring membership and when I called they said I had an outstanding balance and charged my new card. The person I talked to was very rude and unhelpful. I went once for a spray tan that lasted a day. I'm currently disputing with my credit card company. Terrible company. Fraudulent, don't do it!!!! read more

Stopped by here tonight for the first time and great customer service!! It was a young girl that helped me out. She's on the VCU dance team but I can't remember her name. She was so helpful! I told her it was my first time here because I figured I would have to fill out paperwork and whatnot. The first thing she did was ask me if I wanted a tour because there were 2 sides. I was like sure why not. She showed me all the beds and what they did. They have a HUGE selection and some beds I had no idea they did certain things! They are also having a special 12 days of sales which she did a good job of trying to get me the best deal. She also asked if there was any special occasion I came in for. I liked the salon itself but the employees pressure you into buying the lotion and will make you feel like a horrible person. I said I was not interested 5 times and the employee continued to make me smell all of them when I told her from the start I did not want to purchase any. She gave me bad looks and made me feel very dumb for declining lotion. They are also very pushy with trying to sell you all the products. Very rude and unprofessional. read more

I didn't expect to encounter a car salesman at a tanning salon. And when I didn't buy what she was trying to sell she became very snarky. She even tried to put my card on file for a recurring membership WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, when I had made it clear that I just wanted a one time visit. She told me her lowest level beds were terrible in order to get me to buy an expensive bronzing bed visit. Then patronized me when I became visibly frustrated at her continued attempts to sell me things I clearly didn't want( like an unreal amount of trying to sell me things). Awful place. As new in town I went to this salon since I seen it in Carry Street. Staff was so helpful and friendly. The salon felt very clean but I was not so impressed with the sun bed and I chose the most expensive one. The prices are just toooo expensive. The prices are not made for drop in customers, only for monthly payment if you don't like to pay 40 dollar for a 10 minutes tanning.... I paid for 10 tannings since I only tan once in a while. Although you must use all times within 3 months. Since I are more used to pay like 17 dollar for what I pay 40 dollar for here I will definitely find another place after those 10 times I already paid for. Updated review: Must say you got really good coupons with Palm Beach Tan. Got an email where I got 2 sun beds tanning for 1 dollar!! Went there and yepp, I got it for 1 dollar. I was rather skeptical when Atlantic Tanning turned into Palm Beach Tan. What do you mean you aren't selling flip flops anymore?? I am not a big fan of change-I had been going to Atlantic for 14 years or so. Palm Beach Tan in Carytown has excellent customer service-they clean the beds, provide eyewear, and are always friendly and helpful. There are often specials for upgrade packages which I do often. I like the level 2 and 3 beds the best. They also have spray tanning, which I haven't done in a while, but it's good to know it's there. Now I'm like Atlantic who? read more

I've gone to palm beach tan on a weekly basis since 2016. Back at the location in my hometown the girls that worked there were always very polite and I never felt awkward checking in. A few girls who work at this location are perfectly nice but also a few can be kind of rude/unwelcoming. I understand work days can be long 100% but I think I deserve to be treated with a little more respect considering how much I pay monthly. read more

This place is a waste of money. I bought a 3-pack of spray tans and the girl working at the time told me it's ok if I don't use all 3 within a month, because any I don't use turn into account credit. I called later to ask about the one I didn't use, and the manager told me there is no "credit" for unused sessions, and it had expired. So that's about $45 down the drain. Went to get a spray tan around 8:50 pm before the salon closed at 9. Once i got inside the employee proceeded to tell me that the store was about to close. I told her that It wasn't closed yet and i wanted to just get a spray before 9. She said she would let me but I needed to try to get there at least 30 min before they close next time bc she has to deep clean the machine and she lives 40 min away from the salon. This palm beach tan is closest to my house but I never go. The service is never great and I always have to wait. Today was totally different however. I walked in and even though there were several people ahead of me and I had to wait almost half an hour the women at the desk Morgan was amazing. She helped everyone with a huge smile and started conversation so the time passed quickly she was from the Glen Allen branch and obviously just filling in but she completed changed my mind about this branch and I will happily be back for my next tan! read more

This place is pretty awful. It's the only current tanning salon in the city, so if you're despeate, then its worth a shot, but otherwise don't go out of your way. I live in Shockoe Bottom and was going on vacation to Mexico, so I needed a base tan. I stopped in to start a membership. The girl who helped me was fine, but her co-worker, who I later found out was the manager of this location, was sitting on the counter texting and interrupting. I did not really understand everything that the girl was telling me, she talked very fast and it was a sales pitch for sure. I really needed to tan so I tried it out, but I cancelled my membership a month later because I was consistently unimpressed by the service of the staff. The prices are way too high, and they are constantly trying to sell you the higher membership. They have some okay sales like 30% off lotion, which sounds great, but then they tell you that most of the lotions are at least $80, some are over $100. I gave an extra star because the beds were always clean and they offer other locations around the greater richmond area. $30/month isnt worth the pestering sales pitches. read more

Victor (hope I spelled this right) is absolutely incredible. How kind he was on the phone when I called to ask a question, his personalized greetings to the customers as they came into the store, and his warm and sincere smile and eye contact are what made this a real experience. I don't do bed tanning so I can't speak on that, I only do spray tans. I called ahead to find out about pricing. $50 for a single spray tan. Sheesh! I just moved to Virginia and am not sure what the general rate in the area is, but $50 for a single spray tan is ridiculous. Anyways, I spoke to Keli- she was really nice and told me they also offer 3 for $75, which I ended up getting. Way better deal. Keli seemed like a genuinely nice person and she was there when I arrived as well and walked me through the spray tan machine they have. I was happily surprised to see they also provide complimentary lip balm and footies. read more

Friendly and knowledgable staff, clean establishment. Prices seem to be pretty normal in comparison to competitors. Definitely look out for the deals and promos, as they are money savers. They do bill memberships on an advanced schedule, so technically you need to cancel a month prior to when you would like to actually stop your membership. Not "scammy" like other reviews have noted. I think they do this so people don't take advantage of the membership perks and cancel after the first month. read more

This a tired facility with plenty of broken features in the beds (timers, AUX cords, radios, fans etc). The staff and in particularly the store manager need to work on their attitudes. This is a job, I work hourly too, but there is a standard of customer service that must be provided to every customer from open to close. I tried going tanning here tonight around 8-8:15 and it was closed already even though their hours state they are open until 9PM.

I needed a spray tan for vacation, so I searched the internet for my options. Getting airbrushed, which is what I have done a lot in the past, does not really fit in my schedule anymore. I want to be sprayed around 9 o'clock at night, so I can go straight to sleep and let my tan set in and you usually can't get an airbrush past 7 PM. I decided to go with Palm Beach tan because they are open later, use machines (less awkward), and had a first timers coupon for a free spray tan. I found the facility to be really clean upon entering and there were places for people to sit as well as products and drinks for purchase. Kelli went over my options with me and made some recommendations. She recommended that I use a primer and I also purchased a fragrance to be added to mixture, highly recommend doing this. She was extremely friendly and also showed me how to use the booth. They provided googles, nose plugs, barrier cream, lip balm, booties, and the hair cap. I was a little scared of the machine at first but I couldn't get over how quick it was. Five minutes and I was ready to go. Today, the tan looks great. I have a little too much on my hands and feet but that is my own fault as I probably did not apply enough barrier cream. I will be going back to PBT when I need my next spray tan. read more

Since changing from Atlantic Tan, sunless tanning prices have SKYROCKETED. I used to pay only $15/spray tan with $50 for "membership". Now it is $40 per spray tan or you can pay $30/mo for ONE spray tan a month. The only other option is $80 a month for unlimited spray tanning. Pretty unfair for people that only spray tan for special events in my opinion. Needless to say I will make the drive to another salon that offers sunless tanning at rates that compete with UV tanning. Shouldn't we be encouraging sunnless tanning?? read more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS TANNING SALON. The entire company is a scam. The monthly fee is absolutely absurd compared to every single other tanning salon. You are UNABLE to end your subscription with them. My girlfriend went in to end her monthly subscription of 70$ A MONTH and they told her she has to write a letter in to corporate. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. They are currently undergoing a lawsuit for misclassifying their employees and avoiding salary wages. It is insane that they are still in business. I dare you to look up on google "how to unsubscribe from palm beach tan" the Internet is littered with terrible experiences of a multitude of customers CLOSING THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS because PBT continued to charge them despite their attempts to close their subscription. Tell everyone you know to avoid this place at all costs. This company deserves to be sued of every dollar they ever made, my girlfriend goes to sundays and she's said it is an infinitely better quality tanning salon for 10% of the price of PBT. They fail to tell you anywhere on their website or when you call to talk about memberships about the $20 membership fee that you will have to pay plus your monthly fee when you start up... At this place you are only allowed to tan once every 24 hours which is understandable but when I get here 12 minutes before my 24 hours is up and I am told I can not tan..it becomes a real nuisance.. So keep this in mind when you go for a membership here a lot of tanning places actually everything place I've ever been to has never charged me a membership fee.. Normally when I visit PBT I don't have any complaints, but I came in tonight (Wednesday, November 1st) around 6:30 and it was my worst experience yet. There was some construction going on since the lobby was filled with tanning bed parts and cabinets, plus no one was at the front desk. That isn't unusual since the employees sit in that little office most of the time, but the girl working was on the phone with someone then she came to see that I had walked in the door and went back to finish her conversation. When she came back, she assigned me my bed and I go tan. However, another problem arose when I was in the bed. Someone had opened the door, which I thought I "locked"... those locks probably don't even work, not once but TWICE. I was walked in on twice and one of the times it was the girl working who assigned me the bed... she knew I was in there, yet she still walked in on me. She didn't even acknowledge that she walked in on me, nor did she apologize.To say at the least, I was very dissatisfied with this experience and the workers customers service, don't know when of if I'll come back. read more
