The park is actually split in two - divided by picturesque Florida Highway A1A (a gem in itself). The ocean side has a honor system pay box where you deposit $5 for the day, and place a numbered stub on your dashboard. The Intracoastal side has a ranger station, staffed by very friendly and informative park rangers. We ended up picking up a yearly family pass for $120. This allows up to eight people to access any of Florida's 175 State Parks. Gamble Rogers is immaculately clean and well-maintained. The picnic areas on the Intracoastal side are particularly nice! The boat ramp and kayak launching areas are very nice as well. Bathrooms were impeccably tidy - something that's always appreciated! We spent some time walking on the Joe Kenner Nature trail, and saw lots of wildlife. There are many campsites here (on both sides). We did not check out these areas because the roads were marked "for registered campers only." My only disappointment was that the beachside public walkover to the beach itself was closed - presumably due to storm damage. Hopefully this gets opened soon, as the only was to access the Gamble Rogers SP Beach would be to utilize one of the several walkovers in the beachside campground (not sure if this is allowed - will ask next time I'm there). Can't wait to go back - a super-nice State Park that is only a few minutes from my home.

I would highly recommend clothes that can get wet, bringing snacks and water and a hat or sunglasses. A dry bag if you have it but if you want one, they do sell them where you check in.

They have a smaller location and they are thriving with memberships. Pontoon boats was never my vibe but being on the water is something we enjoy. When we got to the park to pick up the boat we were greeted by Drew on the water. He's a nice guy and very helpful. He made sure everything was set up for us to ride and we felt confident with our rental. He shared with us our options where we could ride and recommended a great spot for us to drop anchor and swim. Spent 4 hours on the water and it was awesome! We swam and just hung on the boat. The kids had a blast jumping off the back of the boat into the water. Pick up and drop off was really simple. We were a group of 10 and we all felt comfortable and had plenty of room on the boat. On our ride we saw dolphins, manatees and deer. When we dropped anchor, we saw fish and crabs on the beach. As a plus the kids enjoyed driving the boat with me. I know the memories will last forever with the kids and myself. If you never drove a boat it is simple to drive. Well worth the experience and look forward to future rentals!

It was easy to see the company truck by the launching area on the on the Indian river lagoon. There were life vest and small lights for us to be able to see the other members of the group while paddling in the dark. We paddled to horseshoe crab island and got to see dolphins a couple of times. Overall is pretty dark so mostly you see them around. Our guide was Jordan. He was great! We could not have asked for a better guide. He gave us instructions on how to stay safe, and what to expect during the tour. He also worked hard to communicate with the group while in the water, and made sure that the group stayed together the whole time. He has the right personality for the job making our experience easy and fun. We could see the bioluminescence phenomenon what was pretty incredible. I wish we could have Good pictures of it but unfortunately they don't turn out good. Bring bug spray ! Lots of mosquitos!

The first time…read moreI ever saw bioluminescence was in Puerto Rico back in 2018, and it's still one of the most beautiful nighttime experiences I've ever had--right up there with seeing the Northern Lights. There's just something so magical about watching the water glow around you. We drove about 50 minutes from Orlando to Merritt Island for the tour, where we launched from the Indian River Lagoon, and it was absolutely worth it. This is one of those experiences that's really hit or miss, so keep in mind that the amount of bioluminescence you see isn't something the tour company can control. We got lucky because there was so much activity that night! We actually didn't kayak very far since the bioluminescence was so active right near the shoreline. We spent most of our time enjoying it from that area because there was no need to go much farther. Also, don't expect your phone camera to do it justice. It's incredibly hard to capture on camera, and it's so much more breathtaking in person. I highly recommend this experience to everyone, and I already can't wait to do it again!
