Down to visit Texas State with my older daughter we decided we'd get there a day ahead of time and…read morespend the night rather than try to make the 5 hours or so drive in the morning. She likes things that are different most of the time so I thought I'd try a bed and breakfast with her and was able to find the Crystal River Inn, listed as a 3 star hotel on the travel sites. Seemed to be a discount and I found out why later, but everything worked out fine. This place is just a few blocks away from Texas State so location-wise for us was perfect for our tour the next day. Very easy to find and it's also just off the downtown square so right in the thick of things and allowed us to "check" out the area pretty easy. The reason for the discount is that one part of the hotel is being renovated and so only about half the rooms are available. We stayed in the portion they call the Thomas House. Now we got there on a Sunday evening and so no work being done. There is some bustling noise on the street which mostly goes away by sundown. Also some foot traffic as there seems to be students walking back and forth for various retail spots. Very cozy and quaint rooms however with their own bathroom. One of those small town places where you just pick up your key on the table amongst the other keys for expected guests. Open parking in the back and easy in and out. Supposedly there is a ghost there that likes to mess with the temperature but the thermostat was blocked off and it was quite nice throughout the night. Though my daughter is into that we saw no ghosts that either pushed us down the stairs or helped us up them according to legend...LOL... Has a coffee station for the morning which is help yourself. You can hear other people moving around in the other rooms but nothing too terrible at least on this night. We did not need anything but there was a contact number and the innkeeper apparently was on call if necessary. I think a cozy place. Decor was very nostalgic and man the bath water was nice and hot and plentiful! I don't know that I would call it a romantic getaway place as the surroundings aren't idyllic; but it was a great alternative to the regular motels/hotels for not much more. The bed and pillows were worth the extra 20 bucks....LOL.... I think we got the night for $120 and after all those taxes it was about $144. Don't mind staying there if we are out that way again.

This pace is a danger to the disabled, elderly and basically anyone. The backyard is a hazard for tripping because it is so uneven and even has dips. The transition from the front desk to the hallway is loose and it is several inches wide, a huge hazard. The railing on the extremely steep stairs is too wide for someone who is disabled and can't grip it properly. The entrance in the back has broken and uneven bricks, again a huge hazard. She had the nerve to say to me that they looked at the cameras and I was walking perfectly fine which is so untrue, it's shocking. I had to take my shoes off and scan the floor to be able to walk. I reported to my dr and he took a full report. So I did report the incident and she has been caught in a very serious lie.

In February, we signed a formal contract & paid a deposit booking R&R's shuttle service to drive our guests from the hotel to venue and from the venue back to the hotel, at the end of our wedding. 3 Months away from our wedding, we receive a call from R&R cancelling their service because Formula 1 was happening the same weekend of our wedding. They would most likely generate more money from servicing other clients to Formula 1 than our wedding. Fortunately, we will get our deposit back however there was no penalty for R&R Canceling our contract. We're now scrambling to book a transportation service 3 months away from our wedding. Do not book R&R as they're unreliable and their service depends on how financially beneficial your needs are to them. Our planner also made efforts to reach out to R&R and they told them the same reason for the cancellation. Needless to say, or planner was just as shocked as we were, as they've worked with them multiple times in the past.

My friends and I were all very happy with the service. I searched tons of websites and got tons of quotes and R&R was the best price by far. I would rent again and I highly recommend.

For my job, I lived in a hotel for 2 weeks a month for 5 years and some days a month for the previous 28 years, and I never had a desk clerk like this. My girl friend agreed. The lady manager came over to our table at breakfast (which was great) and thanked us for being do nice to her desk clerk and we told her it was well deserved. As for the overall amenities of hotel they were excellent. I did see where someone complained about insufficient charging outlets. Our room had two on each bedside lamp, another 2 on the desk, and more wall plugs. How many devices does he have? We recommend this hotel, if for no other reason than to start your day on a happy note by wishing Elizabeth a good morning. You won't regret it!

I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!

Augustus was a very helpful person at the front desk, but even he could not save such a bad hotel…read more First, the phone number doesn't work, so if you need to call the front desk, good luck. I had to call Hilton so they could connect me with this hotel because apparently Hilton has a mystical magical phone number that works. The parking situation sucks here too. Don't get here late because you won't find parking, and when you do, if one car parks too close to the line or over the line, this pushes all the cars into other parking stalls in an already small parking lot. The best is when you walk up and someone is smoking a blunt in the parking lot by the dumpsters as you walk your 11-year-old through to get to the lobby. The elevators are also frightening here too. They shudder and shake as you ride them, and you pray that you will survive the trip up to your room. Of course, the hotel staff doesn't tell you when they shut down the elevators either, so you may be stuck on your floor if you can't use the stairs to get down to the first floor. As for the rooms, there are marks all over the walls. The beds are uncomfortable, and the rooms smell. Our room looked like a crime scene all over the walls. I would understand this hotel being in this condition if I paid Motel 6 prices, but I paid the price of a typical Hampton Hotel, and what we got was a roach motel. I am so sad that I wasted my money on this place. I stayed here years ago and it was a beautiful hotel. Now this place looks like it is on the same level as a rundown Comfort Inn in Chipley, Florida, which was just as disgusting. Won't be coming here ever again.
