This place is sooo awesome we stayed in the Peco cottage with our two grand kids 4/9 it was very nice, clean and quiet!! All the staff was very friendly and helpful. Kitchens are fully stock with dishes pans and even blender:). The bath tub was so relaxing!! I would definitely recommend this place!

    View from our back porch!

This place exceeded my expectations. Great setup! We are a family of 3,but this place would be great for multiple family members having their own space but still being together. Front/back porch rocking chairs makes for a great evening!

My daughter was thrilled it wasn't right next door to Gruene Hall, although we wouldn't be there for Music over a weekend.

For this trip, we didn't want to go out a lot, so we took our own food. There are multiple grills (gas and wood) on property, and a mini fridge in the room, as well as cold drawers in the cabana! It was a little cool still, so we opted out of swimming, but the pool is very nice and shaded from the harsh summer sun that's just around the corner. If you want to stay connected, there is WiFi throughout and TV's in your room and under the cabana outside. If you go with a group, there is more than enough room inside and out, including seating in the cabana! All of this, and they are pet friendly! Bentley had just as a relaxing weekend as we did, although we suspect he never works that hard at home either. ;-) Totally worth it!

The kids enjoyed the tubing in the river a lot!! There is a big yard where ballgames, laser tag, flying drones, and water ballon battles occurred daily!! Also the big parking area allowed all 67 of our Saturday guests a place to park safely and conveniently!! Gruene offers lots to do and we had a fun filled, busy week! The owners, Lynnae and Jeff became fast friends and they accommodated our every need! They have the place outfitted perfectly from the kitchen to the bedrooms to the outdoor furniture! Thank you Albert you are awesome I had so many plans but unfortunately it did not go well the swimming hole was closed which was not updated through the website or Yelp. Zip lining no one answered the phone to make a reservation I tried online and they never had an opening- just a note to call the office Jacob's Well also closed Blue hole was open but no swimming allowed Thoughts outdoor activities will likely be open closer to summer possibly in May Even though we were unable to do the outdoor activities we still had a relaxing mini honeymoon and the best part was we brought our Xena and the stores welcomed her It's just another excuse to come back to Wimberley in June when we know everything will be open

There are very few things as peaceful as sitting in a jacuzzi and watching the wildlife walk and fly by. No sounds of cars. No airplanes overhead. No "hustle and bustle." Just peace. The cabin itself was pretty cool. There's a binder with photos documenting its construction sitting on the kitchen table. The layout made sense. It's nice to be able to cook your own meals if you want. There are some restaurants just a few miles from the cabin if you'd rather do that. If you want a nice hearty breakfast, you have to check out Granny D's. The shower and fireplace were both a lot of fun. The rain on our first day there made it a bit difficult to get a fire going, but we finally managed to start it. The replica Franklin stove in the bedroom was useful. The way that the windows are fitted to the house lets a bit of a draft in, and they rattle a bit when the wind is blowing hard, but that's part of the charm of the place. Another cool place to check out while you're there is the Natural Bridge Caverns. Lots of fun, as we both like long walks and hiking-type activities. There is one recommendation that I would make to the owners of the cabin. Re-grade the driveway/ramp down to the cedar cabin. The sharp drop at the bottom all but guarantees that you're going to scrape your vehicle's undercarriage unless you're driving a pickup or SUV. If you are driving a sedan, you'll want to park at the top of the driveway and walk down the hill to the front door. We were crawling down the driveway at less than 1 mph and still managed to scrape the under-body paneling of the car on our first day there. That sucked. We parked up top (see photos) for the rest of our stay. All of that said, the cabin was exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing hill country getaway. I've recommended it to many of my friends and colleagues in the past few weeks since we got back to Grapevine. You should absolutely check it out and at least give it some consideration if you're looking for a getaway that's a bit different than the typical downtown hotel or beach resort scene. 8/10 Would survive the zombie apocalypse there.

Nestled in the hill country just a stones throw away from Canyon Lake and all the awesomeness that the Hill Country has to offer are the Homestead Cottages. There are three cottages: A cedar cabin, a regular cottage, and a Tiny Texas House. We stayed at the Tiny Texas House and loved it. The location itself is great. It's close to New Braunfels but even closer to Canyon Lake. It is perfect for day trips into the surrounding hill country, which is exactly what we used it for. We tripped to Boerne and Bandera from the location and the drive was beautiful. Tough to beat. The amenities at the Tiny Texas House were nice as well. There is a Tiny Texas Kitchen with a Tiny Texas Induction Oven (you know, the magnet thingie to heat stuff up with). There was also a flat-screen TV with sattelite TV, bath robes, and a coffee maker. Most of the comforts of home. I had only a couple of negatives about the TTT: (a) the size of the sink made it difficult to wash dishes and there was no dish soap; (b) the air conditioner wasn't quite strong enough to cool down the lofted bed; (c) there were some unknown hairs on the bed sheet so we were uncertain whether the sheets had been washed before we arrived; and (d) the fridge smelled a little musty. These were small issues, though, and didn't diminish our enjoyment that much. Aside from the location, a few things stand out for me. First, I loved that the TTT had a little enclosed garden surrounding an above-ground jacuzzi. If we were so inclined, there was plenty of mint to make enough mojitos for a party of 20. The jacuzzi was secluded, too, both by the trees lining the street and a wall filling in the space where the trees were. I also really liked the idea of a lofted bed. It was like getting up into my lofted bed I had in college, except fancier. All in all, if you're wanting a hill country escape with your significant other, you can do much worse than staying in one of the Homestead Cottages in Canyon Lake: unique, charming, and cozy.

After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! We spoke to Lasca, who was actually out with her family for dinner Despite this, she got us set up in the cutest farmhouse, gave us directions and instructions to get in, and after her dinner was over, she stopped by to check if we needed anything. The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! I understand that the cabins are old, and authentic but it would help a little. I would also recommend a little better dusting, around window sills, and windows/curtains, a fair amount of dust that came off, every time we closed the blinds or pulled the curtains. That is the only reason I rated it a 4 instead of 5.
