This place is a little ways away from most of "the action", has plentiful on-site parking, and combines coffee shop + bakery + general store in one location. The store is relatively new to West Jefferson and opened within the last few years. It's family owned and operated, and the staff members who were working on the day of my visit could not have been lovelier. The only reason I'm not giving this place five stars is because I felt like the selection of merchandise in the general store was not as eclectic as most general stores I've visited. The majority of the merchandise either fell into what felt like a "live, laugh, love" version of a feminine / children's esthetic, or was downstairs in a section literally called "the man cave". With so many amazing local merchants and artists throughout the West Jefferson community, it would have been nice to see a few more options that fell between these two groups and were maybe a bit more neutral. While I very much enjoyed exploring the store and looking through everything, when it came time to actually purchase something for myself or to use as a gift, I really couldn't settle on anything that would be a good fit.

They had a cute dress outside and had some other cute vintage dresses on display so I decided to go in. What an amazing variety of clothes, records, books, shoes, jewelry, and more. I was looking at jackets when one of the ladies who works there, Karen, came up to me and encouraged me to try on some long dresses. She said it's not too often when a tall lady comes in. She didn't pressure me at all but her passion for the store and clothes made me want to try stuff on. Honestly I wanted to anyway, but didn't plan on it, but I'm super happy I did! I'm from Charlotte and a lot of our "vintage" stores have clothes from the 90's and they charge $30-$80 for a shirt, let alone for a dress. But this store really had clothes from the 1950s and 60s and a lot of the stuff was handmade from residents in the area. I absolutely LOVED it!! It was also so fun having Karen be excited and finding dresses that she's wanted someone to try on. I ended up getting 3 dresses. The average price for the dresses were $19.99 for a long dress and $8.99-$12.99 for a short dress. I tried on a beautiful hand made long dress that looked like something from The Sound of Music or Marry Poppins and it was $30. I wanted it but really did't know where I'd wear it (I'll probably regret not buying it). It was handmade too. My husband bought an awesome flannel jacket that was fuzzy on the inside and was $20-$22. Great deal!! The owner was so sweet and her, and her husband, go around and get all the stuff themselves. I also heard they sell on Ebay!! All in all this shop is awesome. Karen was awesome, passionate, and so encouraging! Any time I come up to visit some friends from the area I am stopping by for sure!! The shop also has gorgeous antique country furniture of a sort I'd never seen before, very interesting vintage decorative accessories, and collector-grade antique cast iron cookware that is fully refinished (a lot of long-gone pre-Great Depression American foundries are represented). Wolf Hills Antiques hasn't been open long, but it very quickly became my favorite antiques store in Abingdon. I'm a collector, and I especially recommend it to other collectors. Prices range from moderate to pricey, but unlike many antiques shops nationwide, the pricey items seem fair market value for what they are.

My kids were doing a bit of shopping and then ended up picking up a couple of items and I spent most of my time chatting with the one woman who worked there. They did enjoy some of the clothing but couldn't find items that they liked in their size but there were some really nice items in the counter that got their attention. They both checked out some really cool necklaces and we also looked at flasks and lighters. My youngest found a hat that they just loved and took a picture of the label on it with the idea that they would check it out online at a later date to see if they might buy one. Friendly employees who were very helpful and lots of good stuff. This one is definitely worth shopping in.
