I had brought in some items to consign. Among them was a pocketbook, never used in perfect condition; it was not a top end designer bag but was a very good name brand selling for about $400. I felt that Karen priced it way too low for what I paid for it. I ended up deciding to leave it anyway since store policy is not to mark down again for five weeks if it doesn't sell, which Karen even reminded me of verbally. I called back in EXACTLY five weeks to the day and guess what?? It had already sold days before, and Karen had marked it down even further!! A direct violation of store policy that she promises to her consignors and also a direct violation of what she told me when I was on the fence about leaving it; in other words, a direct LIE. I ended up getting a 'pittance' of what I paid for it. It's very sad that a business owner would choose to pull a stunt like that; lying to a customer, but also violating store policy is, in essence, lying to all her customers.

This shop has been around 22 years with everything, including their stunning dress collection, from off the red carpet and LA film sets and it shows. Everything is funky, special, unique, handcrafted, from pins to classic books to rock t-shirts, signed posters, vinyls and more. I wanted to buy so much but didn't because of the way I was perceived. Door was open when I walked in and a lady and man walked out. The lady came back in, was pleasant and took off her coat. I guess she was the owner as her do whippered until she returned. Beautiful brown poodle. She then told the older woman she was going to lock the door as the older woman went to the back. She locked me in as if I had intent to steal. I continued to look but picked up her vibe. I asked to see a pair of earrings and the first thing she told me was the price. I had just stated I was looking for a bold hoop. She stated she didn't have that. I then asked to see another hoop. It had the price tag and I can truly read but she stated the price again. There went that sale because I really liked them and they were only $550. Her perception that I could not afford either, cost her the cash sale of those earrings and the burgundy crossbody handbag on the shelf near the Gucci bags. I wanted that bag because that color is hard to find. I guess my comfy jeans, gap sweatshirt and Uggs for a cold Sunday made her think I was just window shopping on a very frigid day. I like to shop when many are not out so I can look and take my time. I gather it was my skin color which is why she trapped me in the store in case I was trying to grab and dash. It's sad but some of do have tons of money. We like to shop at places of value where you find different things than your normal stores. But they don't seem to think we are of value.
