She loves the slides, the trampolines and the ball pit area in the toddler spot. However, most of my thoughts aren't as positive. To have not been here that many years it looks so run down. We haven't been in a year and it seems like 15 years. It's dirty, things are broken, and again.. DIRTY. Spaces like this just take daily maintenance to keep them great, such as wiping down the walls, tightening screws before the item breaks, scrubbing services that are high contact. (I have worked at a children's museum and know that a place like this can be hard to keep up when it is well loved, but day to day care makes it much easier as well as having staff not just glued to the front desk) I guess I was more disappointed because we arrived right as they opened and you can tell nothing was vacuumed from the day before, or simple things like picking foam scraps off the trampoline. We likely won't come back anytime soon, but if you are not a clean freak like me - your toddler will probably enjoy it!

You can tell that they really care for all of their animals and if you get the chance to talk to one of the keepers, they will talk to you with relevant information to the point you could have a BS in zoology. Problem is, most of the animals there can't be fed anything (some can only be fed peanuts), and so the kids ended up feeding the seeds mostly to the peacocks and geese running around in the open. Bit of a waste. The parakeet thing was fun for a few minutes, but the staff kept shuffling us further down away from the concentration of birds to allow for new groups to come in. For what I paid for that experience, I was not thrilled about that. Gripes aside, Tiger world was on the radar to check out for a while now and glad we did it once to see a nice variety of animals, though the reptile exhibit was tiny and unimpressive. Enjoyed coming once, but don't see the appeal at that price point for any repeat visits.

My Dog Napoleon thinks it's his park and insists ongoing there for every walk. Most people are respectful and enjoy the green area and also clean up after themselves if they have dogs, however there are a few in the minority that aren't as community minded. Saw two other large dogs with owners who could barely control them. Unfortunate because there are a lot of children and people playing near the water area and the playground area. Highly recommend one of my favorite parks of the city. They also have concerts and events like movies here.

All in the shadow of the Bell Tower. The park dates back to 1855 when Salisbury native Maxwell Chambers donated the two blocks to the First Presbyterian Church. Then we went inside and saw Guinea pigs, rabbits, and a lizard! Phenomenal educational opportunity!! Green Needles park is tucked away in a neighborhood in south Lexington, right off 285/52. Just…read morelook for the Green Needles Road exit. The park has never been busy when I have visited. If you want to avoid the crowds then I can recommend this park. As far as highlights, Green Needles has a nice playground for the kids. It's all one large unit that has small rock climbing walls, slides and other fun stuff. The equipment is up to date and safe. Green Needles also has a basketball court (outdoors), pavilion, picnic tables, benches, bike rack, doggie bag station, large green space, and a giant boulder. It does NOT have any restrooms, which sucks because there is nowhere close by to take a leak. Downsides, other than no restrooms, - No mature trees around the playground which means the slides get hot in the summer - You have to deal with hearing and seeing traffic on 285/52
