The owners here have been friends of my family since I was a kid, so it's natural that this is where I take my pets. But I am very particular about my pets and who I trust them with, so the fact that I trust them with the staff here says a lot. I have short haired dogs that don't need much other than nail trims, but I appreciate that I can just stop by with them anytime and the staff knows them, and knows exactly how I like their nails to be done (clipped and Dremeled). I also have a pretty nervous breed and their regular groomer here has earned their complete trust and affection. We are in and out in 10 minutes for nails. Even more, until recently I was taking a very elderly dog I took in from a family member here for full grooming. She was blind and had dementia and needed someone to take a lot of care with her while she was at the groomer. Pampered Pet always did a very good job with her and I appreciated knowing that they were patient with her needs and didn't overwhelm her given her condition. She never came home appearing stressed which was a small miracle as she got toward the end of her life and I would take her with the primary goal of keeping her clean and hygienic. They do a good job here and genuinely care about the animals. I appreciate having them nearby. read more

I'm so glad to have this gem of a business in our neighborhood. We recently moved to Pittsburgh and my older furry boy didn't have the best experience with grooming at the first spot we tried. I took him into PP this morning and they took him in. When I picked him up a couple of hours later, I knew he was a happy camper. They did a great job. The ladies running the place were friendly and helpful. I also took a quick tour of their boarding facility and I think I'll try that out soon! So thankful to have these resources nearby. read more

My long haired indoor/ outdoor cat had what appeared to be an unfortunate interaction w a skunk. Didnt even know if groomers did cats but they agreed to take him in right away. I'm new to the area and my Florida pup needed to be groomed. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the staff were extremely courteous and friendly. My appointment was for 11 am and he was groomed beautifully and looked amazing by 2 pm (not an all day affair). The groomer knows how to groom many different breeds, not just the basic cut and shampoo. My brother took his pup in the following day and she never looked better! The location also offers all sorts of pet supplies and cute clothes for the ....chilly... winter weather here. They offer plenty of add on services if you a sweet smelling pup, or teeth cleaning or special shampoos. It was a spa day for my little pup! I have already booked his next appointment. I picked my Alaskan Malamute up and his complete undercoat was gone and he was raw and red skinned. Their excuse was " he has been groomed in awhile". No.... He had not been to you in over a year, and had no problems then, but moved across town and that groomer was overbooked this month. I'm at the Animal hospital having him looked at cause he's in pain and then seeking a lawyer and filing police report for animal cruelty. I wish I could post pictures as there's no excuse for them hurting my dog. Did I mention they muzzled him without my permissio. Love this place!! We have been coming for years. We have Rottweilers and they are always treated like they are puppies. The staff is professional and courteous. They know that your pet (s) are family and that's how they treat them! We have even used the kennel when our dog was sick and we needed to go out of town. The girls treated him like a lapdog and gave him a ton of attention and love. Now we have two Rotties and they have to stay together because they hate to be apart. The staff understands this and made sure that th?ey were together all the times. We always get the dogs groomed before they come home. Heather is an angel!! She always is great with them They are not dog prejudice and care for all sizes. Our old Rottie was about 160#, this didn't fave them at all. We all laugh how big that giant monster was. We've brought four dogs here over the past 13 years, and have never had a bad experience with grooming or boarding. Our dogs are larger, usually older, and they receive the most loving care. They recognize them and greet them by name. A few years ago, our 13 year old collie mix was having some anxiety issues, and after being groomed they kept her upstairs so she could be around the groomers to calm her nerves rather than holding her in the boarding area. We would never go anywhere else, and recommend them to dog owners all over our neighborhood. read more

My cat Gus Gus is very large and hairy so he suffers from hairballs (which are gross, eh). A friend of mine suggested having him shaved in the summertime like she does with her felines, so I thought this summer I would give it a try. Pampered Pet is a little out of the way for me, but I will absolutely make the trip for next summer. I have taken my dogs to pampered pet for as long as I can remember (at least 10 years). After my Mothers experience today I will never ever use them again! I have a 15 year old dog who has been losing weight due to her old age. She looks ridiculous when shaved down.. My Mother specifically told them Do Not shave her down just clean her up... My Mother picks her up and our Dog is completely shaved down.. My Mom was very user and told them how angry we would be...The response was "sorry". Took my 8-year-old Maine Coon in for a grooming which was long overdue. Spoke to them on the phone prior to taking him, making sure they understood he had serious stress issues even when I attempt to groom him. They assured me he would be okay, totally alone so there would be no reaction from other pets, left to sit quietly for a while so he'd be able to calm down, and an assessment before the grooming started to be sure all would be well. As an added precaution, I took him to his vet the night before and was given a sedative to assist with his stress issue. When I took him in for the grooming, they stated they would be clipping his nails which I absolutely refused to allow. They stated it was for the protection of the groomers which I understood except that at that time, he was sedated and if they left him alone for a while to assess before grooming, they should be able to groom without clipping. When I picked him up 3 hours later he was in his carrier, I asked if his claws were clipped and was told, no. When I got him home, I found 2 scabbed-over nick areas and they had clipped his nails, 3 of them to the quick causing bleeding. He was not left alone to calm down prior and judging by the uneven trim around his ruff, he was assembly-lined through the grooming process. It is my fault that I didn't check him prior to paying, even leaving a tip, before leaving the establishment but based on other reviews, I thought he was in good hands. Never again. read more
