My puppy and I had a horrible experience, it was just his second day of camp. About an hour into him being there I received a call, I picked up in panic. No one says anything it's like they didn't want to talk but say that they "gave me a call". I called them 6 times. 30 mins later i get a text saying not an emergency but dash has been bit we wanted to let you know. My husband goes and picks him up and a chunk of his ear is bit off. Yes it was an emergency and now my puppy is scarred and dealing with a cone and medication three times daily. This is nothing a four month old baby boy should have to deal with. They say every dog has to be interviewed and checked for aggression but obviously they do not care about other people's animals let alone a baby. Some girl named Hannah was messaging me back and forth and I told her how much of an inconvenience this is for my puppy and I, she threw the word back at me and said she was "sorry my puppies care has been an inconvenience to me and that's what happens when you buy a dog". I went in there to pick up the check for his vet bill and they are lucky i didn't demand to speak to the owner. So very unprofessional and I PRAY they take care of this issue. read more

Kathy, the director, is so caring and considerate. Our flight from Denver to Pittsburgh was delayed several times and we wanted to pick up our two Maltese puppies that day. Kathy told me to keep her in the loop regarding our arrival time. We didn't land until about 10:00 p.m., long after the camp was closed. Kathy told me she would meet us at the camp to get our puppies even though it would be 11:00 p.m. because she knew how badly I wanted to pick up our little boys. Boarded my Bootsie there and they were wonderful with her she was there for 10 days the only thing I did not care for is the dogs can go to the bathroom where ever and they clean it so Bootsie lost most of her training but in their defense they did tell me this before hand. read more

I happened to find out about Camp Bow Wow when our family was going on vacation, needless to say almost 3 years later, our dog has become one of the regulars. Picture a playground, or dog hangout for your dog. Our dog loves the social interaction he gets from the other dogs, and the friendly counselors. The camp video cameras let you check in on your dog while he's playing, and it can become addicting to log in, and watch dogs on camera. They even offer dog baths, and nail trims. The staff are friendly, and keep you informed of your dog if an issue arises, which has happened with our dog on one occasion. We feel very comfortable leaving our dog at Camp, and are happy there's an alternative to old fashioned kennels. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I know there are great counselors there who love the dogs and my pup loved day camp. That being said, my boarding experience was a nightmare and my pup will not be back. I boarded my puppy over Labor Day weekend while I was out of town. I booked in advance, called to put down my deposit and dropped him off- three opportunities for them to let me know about their "holiday hours"- which isn't noted anywhere on their website- but I was not. The first few days of boarding seemed fine but on Sunday I became concerned. I saw the dogs out in the early morning for a little bit and after that nothing. I checked every hour, maybe more, and tried calling a few times with no answer. The next day the same thing happened. I did not see counselors in to let dogs out until 3:30PM. They were only out for 20 minutes. I had called several more times by this point, left messages, and even called a different camp bow wow to see if they had different contact info. I noticed at other camps dogs were out and playing all day as usual. I was extremely panicked by this point and could not get a hold of anyone. I finally got a call back at 5PM. The worker explained that they had "holiday hours" this weekend and must've forgotten to tell me. I asked why dogs were not let out for so long and was told they'd been out a few times; I let the worker know that I'd checked cameras all day long and if dogs were truly out multiple times it had to only be a few minutes at a time. I also asked about why dogs were not out all day on Sunday because that day wasn't a holiday. I was told that because there wasn't day camp that particular day dogs weren't out to play. I pointed out that on their website it says dogs who are boarded play all day and was again told "holiday hours". I let them know how upset I was and how worried I'd been when I didn't see my pup and couldn't get a hold of anyone, but was just told over and over "holiday hours". I did not feel safe leaving my puppy with them and he did not receive services as promised on their website. I took my pup there because of the promise to play all day; I did not want him to be crated and had I known about the "holiday hours" I would've taken him elsewhere. To make matters worse my pup now has kennel cough; he has not been around any other dogs. I have called and asked to speak to the owner, tried to contact online and even called corporate. Their corporate office told me there was nothing they could do and I'd have to speak to the owner. I wasn't going to write this review but since I can't get a hold of the owner this is my only option. read more

My dog loves Camp Bow Wow. As soon as we pull into the parking lot his tail starts happily thumping against the seat. He can't even wait for the car door to open before his bounding toward Camp. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I love how they treat my pup like he is their own. They even send him home with a puppy report card to let you know his activities for the day and how he behaved. At the end of the day when we pick our happy camper up he is typically exhausted and that makes for a good night of sleep for everyone. I have also used them for boarding and it was the greatest experience. I swear my dog didn't want to leave when I came to pick him up. He just loves playing with the other dogs all day. I cannot recommend Camp Bow Wow enough!!! They are a much needed break for the dog and me!!! read more

Our 14 month old Aussiedoodle is a ball of fluff and love. We took him in for the interview recently and decided to follow up with a half day the following day. He is shy around a lot of dogs, especially dogs that are more rambunctious and wild than he is. The staff was very understanding and caring about our concerns with him being shy and not wanting to play with other dogs, luckily after 3 half day visits he continues to warm up more and more to the staff and dogs and now plays with some dogs on occasion (if he feels up to it). I love the fact they have a camera so you can see you pup but I dislike the fact it's only in one location, if there were cameras where you can keep track of your dog throughout the facility, I think we'd be more inclined to get a package there. Overall, I would certainly send your pet here for daycare, I just prefer more intimate setting for over night boarding. read more

I love that I found a place for my dog to enjoy being while I'm working all day. I feel comforted to know that the professionals there genuinely love the pups that come in. One of the best things about this place is the long hours. I can work my normal day and not rush to a kennel that's about to close. Camp Bow Wow was a wonderful place for our pup! Unfortunately we moved away, but on our dog's last day, all the staff signed a really sweet goodbye card, and I just loved how all the notes inside the card were addressed to our dog. The staff are attentive and communicative, and we never had any issues with things like daycare/boarding reservations or payment. And of course the most important thing was that our dog loved Camp Bow Wow! She would start dancing and wiggling in the car as soon as we turned into the parking lot and she saw her best (human) friends. :) read more

My dog loves to be dropped off here, a relief after he cowered at drop-off at a former kennel we used. The dogs play together in large rooms and a few smallish outdoor areas. And there are "camper cams" that let you check on your dog playing on-line. The staff are very nice and clearly all animal lovers. They offer baths, and will bathe your dog just before leaving so he/she comes home smelling nice. The also offer the required kennel cough vaccine right on-site. FYI, if it is your first time boarding, you will have to get the vaccine more than a week before boarding. Then the later boosters can be done at the time of boarding. The downside is price. $40 per night or $37/night for a full week or more. That does not include a bath (which your dog will need). Day camp is slightly cheaper. It also would be nice to have a larger outdoor play area, but that is probably just not possible in that location. read more

I do not like Camp Bow Wow. The employees are not knowledgeable in dog behavior or know how to treat issues that may arise. I did not find them particularly interested in my dog. Most the time when I would come to pick my dog up and would ask how the dog did they would tell me they didn't know! I began taking my puppy there when she was a puppy. When I could get a report out of them, I was told she was good. Then one day out of the blue I was told she had gotten into a fight. After that, I was told she had gotten into fights almost every second day. I could see no reason why she would suddenly go from being good to getting into fights. I pulled her out of Camp Bow Wow and put her into another dog day care. The first day she was at the other dog day care, I was told she got into a skirmish but that they employees had loudly corrected her. Since that day, she has never had one more fight or skirmish at her current dog day care. The staff can tell me how she did every day. The same people are there the entire day and are the ones watching the dogs. This is not the case at Camp Bow Wow. I wonder how many other dogs are having issues based on the lack of responsible, trained supervision? read more
