The next afternoon right before my ship set sail I get a phone call telling me my pets were infested with fleas. My pets DO NOT have fleas. Of course at this point they know it's impossible for me to pick them up. They charged me an extra $188 dollars for s flea treatment that was either never performed or performed on pets whom did not have fleas. When I picked up my pets there were no bites on any of them. If there was an infestation I'm sure there would still be some kind of evidence. Please be aware and bring proof from your vet that your pets don't have fleas. I have learned a very valuable lesson.

I figured since I was going to be out of state for vacation and would be going back to PA on the way home, it made sense to bring my 4 lb Maltese mix here. My Mom spoke to the owner and told her that my dog is a "barker" which is absolutely true but as an animal caretaker, I expected the woman to be experienced with handling a variety of issues especially when they are away from their home! The day I brought my dog I came prepared with her medical records, food for the week, her leash and harness and a toy for her to play with. The woman seemed pleasant enough but uneasy with the fact that I was coming from NJ to board my dog. Her kennel was almost at full capacity with about 10 dog kennels so I was comfortable leaving mine there. She made copies of all her medical records and took the things I brought for my dog saying she didn't need her leash. We left and the next day we went on vacation. At 9 am the next day I woke up and noticed that I received a missed call and voice mail from the kennel. It was the owner yelling in a very impatient and rude tone "She cannot stay here, she has to go!". Apparently my dog was not happy there and she had trouble bringing her back inside the dog kennel when she was in the run. The owner also called all of my emergency contacts (one of which is my mother-in-law) immediately after me and caused a massive panic. When I called her back I asked what happened and I got the same rude yelling and I could barely get a word in because she kept circling back to why my dog couldn't be there. At one point she even said "You're not listening to me"--I have never felt so patronized in my entire life by a so-called professional dog boarder. The woman even started yelling at my mother-in-law because she asked if there was any way that my dog could stay--it had only been one night and the owner didn't give my dog a chance to settle in. Once my mother-in-law went to get my dog the woman acted as if nothing happened and then told her "You're a mean woman," which was completely baffling to her. If you are truly capable of running a dog kennel, how about learning how to properly handle and care for a 4 lb. dog???

I boarded my dog here in June and was absolutely disgusted. When I picked him up he had a deep scratch down his nose. I assumed it was from a run-in with another dog and no big deal so I ignore and take him out to the car. When I go to lift him in he smelled so strongly like cleaning product and was covered with poop on his rear (this has never happened at home, he is a large dog). I go inside to ask for a paper towel or something to clean him up and no one comes out so after standing there for a few minutes I just leave and go put him in my car. He had mass amounts of hair coming off him so I give him a bath as soon as we get home and notice he has an ear infection (hasn't had one since he left the pound) and his paw paws are peeling off and cracking I can't even imagine what would cause this. He used to go into his crate no problem and it took 3 days for him to willingly go into his crate again. When I initially left for vacation and contacted them for an update it took 48+ hours to respond. This isn't just unacceptable it's boarder line animal abuse. I would never, under any circumstances take my dog there again.

I have been coming to Carol to groom my pup for over 5 years. The service and quality of cuts is…read moreexcellent. My dog (shih tzu ) has allergies. Carol is very consensus to this fact and I have never had any issues with the products she uses. I mention this because other places I have taken my pup to have resulted in bad ear infections or hives on the skin after the grooming. I am very happy that within the past year she now offers additional services. Such as dental cleaning. My dog is very difficult when it comes to allowing us to brush her teeth properly. Since she started getting the service at goldleaf her teeth always come back nice and white. They take great detail into removing the hair from the ear. Its a big deal for me since thats where yeast starts to develop and leads to ear infections. All dogs are caged individually as they wait for the owners to return. Its not a big place so make reservations in advance. I have tried countless groomers from New York and have been highly disappointed, Goldleaf has put all others to shame! In addition, you need not worry about your poor pup getting an appointment to only be forced to pick up 5 hours later [usually due to overbooking]. There is no reason for that!!! This is done in NYC a lot. Here your appointment time is exactly the time your dog goes in for grooming. Then 1.5-2 hrs later [depending on service you ask] he/she is ready for pickup with a pretty bow or bandana.
