This is a local spot for casual eats on Park and Central. We had a chili cheese dog and pupzilla. The chili cheese dog was sound, a true classic, with generous sauce and a good balanced seasoning. The Pupzilla is fun featuring pork sung, onions, katsu sauce, kewpie mayo, and furikake (toasted seaseme seeds & nori flakes). Next time I will ask to go a little lighter with the sauces. I went in and looked over the menu. I tend to order traditional classic dogs, but I like to try something new. So you order the type of hotdog you want, and then the kind of toppings. Or you ask for a Signature Pup, and just pick the type of hotdog. The choices are All Beef, Polish Sausage, Hot Link, Veggie, and Turkey. I got: - Kraut Dog, Polish Sausage (My favorite) - Chicago Dog, All Beef - PupZilla, All Beef All the hotdogs were juicy and delicious. I was told the PupZilla is a unique recipe of this location. I've been sick from eating at this place twice! The place is extremely dirty, especially in the back & kitchen. Gross and unsanitary. Also, the guy that owns this place and/or is always at the front counter is a complete jerk. Your hot dogs are nasty and overpriced.. And your attitude is the worst. You should get some new employees in there because people like me that have been spending money there for years are tired of it and you really don't deserve our business in Alameda. Showed up a little too early for my screening of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare at the Alameda Theater, so walked over for a dog and a coke here. There were a couple of seats at a table and at a side counter, along with seats outside which would have been just fine since it was a sunny day. Got the coney dog even though I'm not the biggest fan of chili,but it was really good, and a cheap meal compared to what we would end up paying at the theater. Awesome little place! Came here on a. Friday evening about 45 min prior to closing up and the guy was still happy to make my friend and I a hotdog. My hotdog came with coleslaw and another sauce that was really good - just how I like it, messy and tasty. My boyfriend is a huge fan of hot dogs, so when we walked past this spot on a sunny afternoon he was absolutely ecstatic to try a local joint! We were greeted by a friendly employee who let us take our time perusing the menu before ordering. I ended up getting the El Paso, which was delicious and everything I was looking for in a quick, cheap bite. My boyfriend got the Chili Cheese dog, and it looked equally as great. I wish I had asked for a fork, because it can get a little bit messy! We ended up using the chips included in the meal to scoop up the condiments that fell off. Overall, this is a great spot for a yummy lunch. She always wanted a hot dog (Deluxe or El Paso) to go before she headed to the babysitter. At that time, I would watch the lady prepare the hot dog for consumption, spreading the mustard on the bun, adding sliced tomatoes, chopped onion and pickle relish. The El Paso was a bit messy - nacho cheese sauce, cheddar cheese and chili. Both "dogs" were good and filling. With the coronavirus crisis, and my being in the neighborhood, I decided to get two Chicago dogs to go before the shutdown of restaurants, bars, clubs occur midnight Tuesday, March 17. The Chicago dog is still pretty good. I asked the owner if he could prepare a Chicago or Deluxe combined with the El Paso (without the nacho cheese sauce). Yes was his reply. I shall return after April 7 to get my hot dog fix. The combo of the two is what I call hot dog with the works. It is messy; however, I use a knife and fork to eat it. LOL. Ahhh...the memories of eating a hot dog from Pampered Pup over 35 years ago was an enjoyment for my daughter and me. Walking downtown Alameda, I stopped into the Pampered Pup for a hot dog as I was getting hungry. Place is small inside with room for only one table seating for two. The place wasn't busy fortunately and I was the third in line. They have a good listing of hot dogs to try. I stuck with the traditional hot dog for now. It's a cute hole in the wall hot dog stand, decorated like a small diner. Very cute inside, but could use a good mopping and cleaning if I had to be honest. There were two small tables outside which I appreciated. The employee, which I think is owner, is also very nice but there wasn't anything special about the customer service. The reason why I am giving them a lower review is because of their veggie hot dog, it was gross! First, he microwaved the hot dog and the bun (as mentioned by another reviewer!) and it was overcooked, bad texture, and too hot to eat - so I had to wait and then the bun got really hard. 100% not the place to go for a veggie dog, I'm sure their meat dogs are better. Price was decent, it seems like everything is in the $5-8 range. The veggie dog ended up being about $7. Given all of the restaurants nearby, I honestly don't think this would be my go to at all. With that being said, downtown Alameda has a really large number of mediocre restaurants with a few gems sprinkled in. Pampered Pup wasn't one for me. read more

I don't make it back there very often, and one of the things I really miss are West Virginia style hot dogs. West Virginians are VERY particular about their hot dogs (just Google "West Virginia Hot Dogs" to see what I mean. I have not been able to find anything like them in CA, until now. Your "Carolina Slaw Dog" is on point! The chili is not Western chili, but almost a Cincinnati-style chili. Your coleslaw is the perfect mixture of tangy and sweet. I'm not sure if you steamed the bun, but it was the appropriate texture when I got it delivered. It just tastes like home. So good, you guys! read more

The dog itself was not tasty and kind of squishy. The cheese added zero flavor and i could tell it was not high end. I ate the whole thing but I'm expecting problems later, if you catch my drift. Now I'm from the peninsula and am spoiled by Ben Frank's. I know a great dog. I want to distinguish the dog from the other ingredients. Like the difference between overcooked pasta and al dente.
