I was born in Trinidad, but have been living in the US since the early 90's. Finding Pam's Kitchen on a visit to Seattle was wonderful! Pam and Raul were great to chat with and the food was everything I could hope for - bringing me back to memories of the islands where I grew up. I had the curried goat and paratha (roti) there and ordered curried chicken, dhalpuri, pelau and aloo pies to go. It was all really well prepared, tasty, and like I said, it really brought back memories of the past and food I have always loved. This is a new place we tried at Wallingford and it was super confusing. This was the first time we went here, however there was no one hep us navigate the way around, or tell us what we should be expecting from the menu. I'm not sure what the rave is..and this review is more of a 3.5 star. The menu is super simple..3 entrée items, but with different options (lamb, chicken, pork, etc). Between the 3 of us, we each got a different entrée..we got the chicken curry with roti, pelau, and the jerk chicken. The food is phenomenal don't get me wrong, but for the price range of $15- $20, I was expecting much more food. After we "licked our plates" clean, we were left with wanting more food..not full.. The meats were all fall off the bone goodness, but it was not anything I haven't had before. In fact, I think I can make it myself in a crockpot... Service was also only decent. We were the only ones there, but it was still slow to take our order. The only selling point is that they are the only Trinadadian cuisine in the area. I can't believe it's taken me this long to post this review! Pam's kitchen was the BOMB! We got to the car and started on the Aloo pies and had to go back in and order more--they were magnificent! We couldn't wait to get back to the hotel the try the jerk pork with fried rice--not the chinese type--think TRINI...finger licking. I got curry goat, which is my favorite dish, it was really good. Only drawback and recommendation from me is to cut the pieces smaller--too big which makes it less tasty. Lastly the pelau--I thought my husband makes the best Peleau but Pam's was just as good--I won't tell him, maybe a little better. Pam thank you and your son for the experience and the food. Pam's Kitchen is absolutely incredible. The food and flavors are absolutely wonderful. Pam's is still doing takeout orders during the quarantine - we ordered through UberEats and got a great deal! We got the Pelau, Jerk Chicken Wings, Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and Aloo Pies - all of which were absolutely delicious. The order came really quickly and everything was still warm when it got to us, all the way up in Shoreline. We went for lunch at almost 1pm, the place is almost empty but it takes 40 mins to get our food. We ordered salads and some appetizer. When we left, I remember I forgot my macaroons on the table. Very good food! I went in today, Sunday, right as they opened at 4pm. I was greeted by Pam, who not only took my order, but was nice enough to take a picture with me. I ordered a variety of food, since I live so far away and everything I ordered was soooo good and hot. It can be pricey, but I'm sure alot of the ingredients may not be here in WA and when ur the main Caribbean place around, you should be able to make some profit off ur food and drinks you cannot get down the street, or at Burger King. Plenty of room at the location (Wallingford) for large groups but not too big that the space takes away from the ambiance. The staff was friendly but unfortunately not plentiful. Service was SLOW for taking orders and receiving food. My group got there early, just after opening and with the few people in the restaurant the service ran at a snails pace. Once the locations starting getting busy it was sad to see the three people taking orders struggle to keep up. While leaving I did see a help wanted sign on the door. We were sat right when we walked in. And then waited for 15 minutes to be acknowledged before leaving. The restaurant was maybe half full, the waiters kept walking by, totally ignoring us. We decided to give them a few more minutes, and it seemed like there was hope as a waiter was coming towards us. Until an Uber eats driver who had just walked in stopped him and the waiter promptly helped him. We got a "I'll be with you in a second" as he walked to the kitchen, but at that point, we weren't confident that was true. The bussed looked at us weird as we left and that was that. All you need to know is the food is good, but the service is shameful. Probably the worst service I've received at a restaurant. Everything took a long time, and staff were not attentive to anything. After being seated it took at least 20 minutes for anyone to even come over to say hi and take our order for food and drinks. After 20 minutes waiting for a drink order and we were almost halfway done with our meal, I went to the bar to remind the waiter about my belated order, and rather than an acknowledgement or apology, he said with annoyance, "If you would've just looked around you'd see we are busy and I'm the only one serving drinks". Instead of service with a smile we got an attitude and a long wait. We were given three napkins for a table of four people. After asking two different servers for one more napkin, we finally had to go get one ourselves. This is a minor thing, but it gives you an idea of what the whole dinning experience is like here. Saw Pam's Kitchen last night on Drive-ins, Diners with Adam. I knew I'd have to make the trek to get here. Soooo glad I did! Had a chance to chat some with Ms. Pam. It's definitely the kind of place I'd frequent more if I lived closer. Bartender recommended curry chicken with a side of goat and it didn't disappoint. He also recommended Rum Punch (half ginger/half sorrel) and I babysat it as long as I could lol. Somehow, I was able to control my inner fatty, but I just love this place. This was probably the highlight of my family's trip to Seattle. My husband saw a video that highlights this restaurant and the delicious food they make. We stopped by shortly after the restaurant opens in the afternoon. It was a good time since we had the place to ourselves. We arrived with a big party (11 people). For starters, the atmosphere of the place is very casual. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the delicious spices in the food. The decor is appropriate. The waiter that helped us was very and very helpful. He provided menu suggestions as we all had a difficult time deciding on what to get. He even spoke in Spanish to my parents to explain the ingredients in the different dishes. Our waiter was AWESOME! He was very attentive. We told him that we came because of the video and looked forward to trying Pam's food. He told us that Pam was in the Kitchen and shortly after she came out to greet us and thank us for coming to her restaurant. It was an amazing experience. Sweet lady! Everything we tried was delicious. I had the jerk chicken. It was juicy and full of flavor. Everything was so full of flavor and their habanero sauce is AMAZING! My husband tried the curry lamb. He loved it. The roti was delicious. Everyone enjoyed the food and the experience. Desert was delicious as well, Cassava & Coconut Pone Cake. I can't even describe how delicious this desert is. Jerk chicken and vegetarian combo (do it, don't just do the curry...the pumpkin side is fire) were worth it. Called in and ordered based of their menu posted on their website, and it was all ready within 30 minutes for pick-up (and it was pretty warm--can't speak for delivery options but if you're close by you might as well get it yourself). One of the best takeout portion sizes I've had. So many places in Seattle are stingy with takeout, understandably because of containers and whatnot, but you will not be disappointed here. And you get a ton of food for the price, deferentially enough for leftover later. Prices are higher as reviews note and service is a bit slow, but such good food. Came here during my last trip to Seattle and the food did not disappoint. The roti was delicious as well as the chicken curry. The service was on the slow side, but there was only the owner taking care of everything and warned us up front if we were in a hurry it may not be the right option for our group. Since there is only 1 rep working all your orders during lunch has to be taken from the front counter. There is no rice and peas served with the entree, they serve roti just to manage your expectation. The goat was good and meaty and the curry goat was good. The ribs were tough and the jerk chicken was room temperature. NOT A GOOD LOOK. For a place posted on diners, drive inns, and dives i was expecting a lot more. Especially if the jerk chicken was the show stopper. The drinks in my opinion was good, i would order there speciality drinks and give them a try. This is, without a doubt, some of the best food I've had in Seattle. The jerk chicken sandwich is perfectly spicy, tender, and delicious, and comes on the most wonderful, fluffy coconut fry bread.
