The restaurant is spacious with colorful and expressive art all over the walls. You're hearing Latin music in the background there's a large bar in the left corner. The menu is big, there's so much that you would want to try so go with the big party. Your offered three different styles of plant proteins when you order your traditional dish. We had the Pasteles, Mofongo, ALcapurria and Sorullitos. Everything came out hot and fresh. The Mofongo was out of this world. And I make Mofongo. The Alcapurria was delicious of Smith's first time having it. The portions are large enough to share. Or have leftovers. You are so lucky to meet the owner. The super friendly gentleman he gave us the backstory of why he started this restaurant. Changing his diet helped him recover from cancer. And it was about the way he ate. So he wanted to share this opportunity with meat eaters. So the whole goal of his restaurant is vegan food for meat eater so they can see that they are not missing anything. The owner also is a famous DJ. He has a talk show radio. And he's been doing it since the 70s. It was a lovely experience my Bestie found this restaurant for me. Because I'm a vegan/sometimes pescatarian. I don't get to try all the foods. It was such a lovely experience.

It hit the spot! I also ordered a Puerto Rican-style coffee made w/ steamed milk, & it was excellent. Rich, smooth, & flavorful(def one of the highlights of my visit). The caffeine woke me up w/ the 1st sip. Unfortunately, the cinnamon roll was a letdown. It was dry, hard & lacked the soft, moist texture I was expecting.I'm just being honest.I wasn't a fan of it at all There wasn't much decor & the place was just basic looking. Overall, I'd gladly come back for the fresh bread, sandwiches, & coffee. While the cinnamon roll missed the mark for me, the sandwich & coffee made the visit worthwhile. Maybe next time I'll try the lunch. By the time I finished breakfast they were already serving lunch. Puerto Ricans start lunch early. The food they put out looked so good & def caught my attention.

I personally wasn't a big fan of the cheese they used. And there was crumbs and debris by all the table legs. Still, the bakery had that classic local panadería feel with friendly service and fresh baked bread, so overall it was a nice stop for breakfast in Carolina.
