    Total for two papusas.

This place is in the same plaza as the Atlanta comedy theater. So there is lots of parking. We had bought tickets to see a show but had arrived too early and I spotted this restaurant and got so excited. I had papusas one other time and they were delicious. So we walked in the restaurant looks like your typical mom and pops type of restaurant which is fine. I ordered the chicken and potato in the pork and cheese papusas. I guess they were made to order which is awesome because it took at least 10+ minutes to get the food. Both were extremely delicious had a good amount of cheese was hot and very flavorful! The papusas came with a side of a coleslaw type salad but the dressing wasn't your typical mayonnaise dressing it was something else like a vinaigrette and it was a delicious addition on top of the papusas with a squeeze of hot sauce. This place was bomb.

I took a quick Instagram video, here's a screen shot of part of the video --they were DELICIOUS!!

Pupusas are DELICIOUS!!! OMGOSHHHHH!! ALL OF THEM! It literally tastes like the ones from El Salvador!! The cheese is superrrr cheesy and goodddd, the revueltas are out of this word delicious, and they even have a pollo con papa y queso that was ALSO super delicious!! My husband loved the calabaza one too!! And my son CRUSHED his pupusa de queso! The servers are nice and friendly too! Totally recommend this spot!! The inside is cute and vibrant! The walls are blue & white like our flag! It has a lot of seating and feels spacious! Love this place! We are DEFINITELY coming back! It was so good we ended up taking 10 additional pupusas to-go!! And they gave us a good amount of salsa and curtido to-go too (I didn't have to ask for extra -which I HATE doing)! Totally recommend this spot!

Looks good but absolutely no flavor.

Ya....Uhhhh...No. I LOVE Pupusa And when food is said to be very authentic. Does not mean they do it well. We don't speak Spanish. They all do, and don't speak English. The menu was the only barely translation there was. Not very explanatory. Be prepared. We both ordered 2 Chicken Pupusas. Each $1.75. It comes with the Cole slaw. We were so hungry had to eat one. Did not eat the rest. We ordered a Chicken Tamale. That tamale was so wet, it made me sick. Very dirty. The table was sticky and full of someone's left over crumbs. Go back NO WAY!

Chicken, potato, cheese pupusas with tomato dipping sauce & curtido

I wanted to venture more into Latino food. I keep hearing about these pupusas from my daughter because she had some at school and was raving about how yummy they were. So I Yelp and found Panaderia Y Pupuseria Las Delicias, which is not far from us at all. It is located in the same shopping plaza as Food Depot and I Luv Pho, located next to Taj Mahal. Walking in, it is very dark, I have no idea why but it's a big enough restaurant. It's casual where you order up front, pay, and then they bring the food for you. There are arcade in there too, which I found odd, I usually see that stuff at laundry mats. You will see yummy bakery items up front on display. The menu is listed overheard. The lady up front speaks English so she is able to communicate with you and is very helpful as well. Pupusas are $1.75 each and we ordered 6, all filled with chicken, potato, and cheese. Also ordered a chicken tamale, which is also $1.75 each. I took it to go and they were still really hot in temperature. It came with a tomato dipping sauce and fermented slaw, which I later found out called curtido (lightly fermented cabbage slaw with red chilies and vinegar). OMFG, one bite into the pupusa had me wanting more. It was that delicious!! I looooved it. Plus it tasted even better with the tomato dipping sauce. The curtido added a nice texture to it. Tamale was good too, reminded me of the bamboo or pandan leaves that are wrapped in rice. But tamale is mesa wrapped in corn husk or banana leaf. I cannot wait to go back and try more dishes. They are open as early as 6 am too! I want to try their tres leches since it's one of my favorite cakes.

I LOVE to travel and because of this I have been fortunate to visit many great places. My main love…read moreof travel is for two reasons: A) for the scenery/architecture and B) for the culture/food. In my travels I've had the privilege of visiting Guatemala twice. I was blessed to have home-cooked meals by locals all throughout the city. Prior to visiting Guatemala I had no idea there were so many variations of Latin foods between Central-American cultures and it was there I had an eye-opening experience with tamales. Guatemalans make their tamales a lot different than the Mexican style tamales I was familiar with eating most of my life. Their tamales were a lot fatter and far moister than Mexican tamales and the masa is softer. I instantly fell in love with the difference, especially after having eaten many overcooked & hard Mexican tamales in my lifetime. So you can't imagine how delighted I was to discover the Salvadoran tamales here @ Star Bakery are similar to Guatemalan tamales. [ THE FOOD ] After my first taste I returned 3 days in a row because I just couldn't get enough of the amazing flavor! Moist, fluffy, flavorful masa wrapped around juicy & oh so tender chicken. The ladies here truly have magic in their fingers, because it's not just the softness of the masa. I hear chicken bouillon is traditional in seasoning the cornmeal used to make the masa, which would explain why it had such a satisfying aftertaste. I also enjoy their Carne Guisada and delicious Fresas con Crema, but was not a fan of the Baleadas. Something about it tasted sour, almost spoiled. My favorite combination is an order of their Corn Tamales paired with the Grilled Steak next door @ Villino's. I ate them together as if they were steak tamales. The two flavors combined are enough to inspire an epic happy dance! On my latest visit I tried the Pupusas after two other customers in line convinced me I needed this in my life. They both recommended the Chicharron con Queso but I was more interested in the Cameron con Queso, so I ordered one of each. Both were great, but that dang Chicharron was AHHHH-mazing and exploded with flavor! They were absolutely right! * Elote Tamales (5 stars) * Pollo Tamales (5 stars) * Carne Guisada (4.5 stars) * Fresas con Crema (5 stars) * Baleadas (1 star) I think I just got a bad one! * Cameron con Queso (4.5 stars) * Chicharron con Queso (5 stars) [ FINAL THOUGHT ] Take a drive to Plaza Las Americas, casually meander to the food court in the rear and treat yourself to some of the best chicken tamales north of Central America. But don't be in too much of a rush because they take a little time to prepare. If you've ever traveled South of Mexico and sampled these amazing tamales, I think you will agree with me on their authenticity and deliciousness. BUEN PROVECHO! 2022 / 82

Star Bakery is located at the food court of Plazas Las Americas in Lilburn…read more I was up for checking the food court out to eat and explore more Hispanic food options.
