The tamales were expensive as heck!!! $7 each 3 yrs later, I came again for my dad and the nacatamles are $11 now and theybare ok. We got fried plantains with the cream sauce and it was a little raw. Also got a sopa de res was delicious for my dad and we got the carne asada which was good and tender. They are still really expensive in my opinion though but will give an extra star. read more

I had my first Nicaraguan cuisine experience at this restaurant. I ordered the chicken fillet which was marinated with garlic, yellow rice and, black beans. My meat was a little tough but, I did enjoy the flavor of it. I don't know what I was expecting for Nicaraguan cuisine, but I guess I expected a little more flavor punch to the dishes. Maybe I didn't order the right entree to meet my expectation So, I take that potential responsibility. It was a good meal but, a little basic. This doesn't roll out the restaurant nor this type of cuisine. Next time I go, I will ask for recommendations from the staff being at this time I ordered online for takeout. read more

Quantity of food u get is HUGE....and the menu boasts many nicaraguan dishes as well as salvadoran popusas. For me and my partner the taste was lacking on most of the dishes. GalloPinto : was made with black beans instead of small nica red beans. Not, a lot of flavor and some odd seasoning.... that we could not pin.... beans were overly fried making them crunchy. We piled nicaraguan cabbage slaw on top so that the gallo pinto had flavor. Pork: delicious and moist the star of the dish. Very generous portion. Tajadas: not freshly made and tasted as such. Tasted like they made them early day for the entire day ... chewy not crispy and hot. Queso frito: very think slice of some odd white cheese and fried in heavy oil. Nothing like the nica cheese u get a Fritangas in Nic. It was almost like a strange melted lump with oil on top. This was the first time ever that we left cheese on the plate. We couldn't eat it. Fried fish: delicious with a tomato/onion sauce . Well worth it. coffee and pico: coffee was absolutely terrible .. couldn't drink it .. bitter and extremely thick and just was afraid to drink it. The pico was ok not fabulous but just ok. It was a very disappointing to say the least .. we left a generous tip since service was outstanding and walked out ... $60 check (with tip) for two people .....left everything behind on our plates. On Saturday, February 28, 2026, I placed an online order for the Tucker location through this company's website for a 4 plate platter. The pickup time from theor online ordering system said 8:01 pm. Having never been to this restaurant before, I did not realize that they closed at 8 pm. I arrived at the restaurant at 8:15 pm, and the doors were locked. The owners, still inside, opened the door and told me they never received my order and could not fulfill my order because they cook already left. I told them that their online system took my payment and it was already reflecting in my checking account. I should them my phone so that they could see as well. They said their system did not show my order. Well the payment posted to my account, over $100. I've attempted to call the restaurant to have them reverse the charge. As I began to tell whoever answered the phone my issue, she hung up the phone.i attempted to call 2 more times and was sent to voicemail. I called again and the same woman answered. I asked if she spoke English, she said no and hung up. I'm out of over $100 and did not receive service from this establishment. I will dispute this transaction with my bank. So this is the second Nicaraguan place I've been to in Atlanta with my first experience with their food being in Miami. Anyone in Miami knows about Nica food and Fritangas. Is this a Fritanga? Definitely not. Small location with a nice local small restaurant feel. Decor was what you would expect and the service was very good. The food, not so much. I got one of the Nica staples, Carne Asada with gallopinto and tajadas with a queso frito on the side. The carne asada was WAY overcooked. It was almost hammered to hell and way too salty for my taste. Not a lot of seasoning either. The gallopinto was just OK. Didn't have a lot of the flavor you would normally get and even their pique that you put on the rice wasn't that great. The Tajadas looked and tasted store bought out of a bag. Definitely not fresh. Not a great experience for me. There is a restaurant close to this one called Mi Linda Managua which has much more authentic food. The food here isn't horrible but not great either. read more

It seems like the meats are precooked and reheated up when you order it. Mostly dry meats in the grill for two. Also, it semis like the cook with on a metal grill instead of a charcoal grill. Their green and Caesar salads need work. read more

This place offers real Nicaraguan food. There is parking available and prices are okay $12-$15 per plate. The restaurant is small but cozy. Appetizers aren't that great and they come at the same time as the main plates which makes no sense for an appetizers, next time I will skip the appetizer for sure. Salpicon $13 is an authentic Nicaraguan plate of minced beef which is very good but please be aware, this plate is served cold and can resemble tuna salad but with a beef flavor. It is worth to try. Worth the drive. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. I was craving Nica food and happy that I came across this place. The prices are average between $6-13 but the portions are generous. Most of my food was okay but STAY AWAY FROM THE SOPA DE MONDONGO. I've eaten this dish my whole life (I am from Central America) and they do NOT know how to prepare it. It smelled like poop - which happens when you don't properly clean the tripe (mondongo). I smelled it and had to throw it out. Plátanos maduros were good. Been here a few times. The first time on came I was disappointed. I wanted the Cuban sandwich but they didn't have it. So ended up getting another one (don't remember what it was called) but the meat was hard to chew on half of my sandwich. But they did try to make up for not having what I wanted by giving me free side of rice and beans. I must add that in spite of it faults the same which was season perfectly. The others I was with all liked their food and it was all at a great price. We each spend about $8. On my next 2 visits things really got better. I finally got my beloved Cuban sandwich and boy was it good the bread was nice and crisp on the outside.and the meats were tender and juicy. I even like the flavor of the pickle. It was just enough to make me full. The last time I went I had this smothered pork chop thing and that was great as well. It was fall of the bone good. You could tell the sauce, a tomato base, hade been stewed for some time. Because you could taste all the flavor of ingredients they used in it. So in spite of my first visit not going well, I returned to to the restaurant and really enjoyed the food there after. My mom cooks authentic Nicaraguan food. We wanted to try it cause she came to visit from Texas. I was so excited. We get there and start realizing the prices are in a word disrespectful. Queso frito was $2+ a slice???! 3 more $$$ I can buy the block of cheese. Nacatamal was missing a ton of ingredients and was very salty. Gallopinto was dry. I liked the flavor of the carne asada. The cheese was good too but I couldn't get over the price. My take on the restaurant is they know there aren't a lot of Nicaraguan restaurants and take full advantage charging for food that's at best just ok. With the money spent I could have taken my mom to the grocery store, had money left over...and it would have tasted better. Came here with hubby about two weekends ago for lunch. He had been craving Cuban food the last few months & needed his fix (he's Cuban & from Miami). Place is small and humble, but also inviting. Our server was also very nice. I ordered the Cuban sandwich with maduros and he ordered a meat dish that came with rice & beans and fried cheese (?). My sandwich was not very good. The bread and everything in between was very soggy. I've had a Cuban sandwich made the right way, and unfortunately this was not it. Maduros were ok. Hubby said his dish was just "ok". Very authentic and definitely flavorful. We got two kids quesadillas, one chicken and one just cheese and they loved them. We got the "Plato Variado" for two and it was beyond what we expected.
