Biggest regret, not doing this at 25, 35, or 45 years old but just certified at 55. The staff, shop, boats were great, very clean and put together. I've been getting my gear and Nitrox refills here for over 10 yrs and the staff are all ROCK STARS. They're always friendly and work hard to provide the best experience in and out of the water. My son and I booked and completed 2 days of diving to the inshore wreck and bridge spans last week. I have been diving all over the world with more than 1000 dives over the last 34 years. I will give a full review of everything here: SHOP: Excellent layout. High quality equipment. Great supply of anything and everything. But most important is their knowledge and service attention. They answered all my questions and it was clear that they had their act together. BOAT: Easy access from the parking lot. Ben (DM) and the Capt were AWESOME! I had the opportunity to dive with Panama City Diving on 2 consecutive days. They provide excellent service and support for all 4 dives. Before heading to the boat there is a quick check in at the dive shop. They have a great selection of gear if required. On the boat the captain James and dive master Travis were outstanding. I am a highly anxious person but really wanted to get Scuba certified with my son who was turning 21 (yay). We went to several dive shops and decided to go through Panama City Diving. They were AMAZING from the very beginning. They explained everything thoroughly up front before we even started the online SDI written certification (16 lessons). When we both finished that portion we move to the Pool/open water dives. Ben Carpenter was so patient and very knowledgeable. He immediately put you at ease and tailored the experience at your pace. We do a dolphin cruise with captain Stan every time we come down to PCB. If you encounter any marine life if he can stop and let you swim with them he will. He is awesome at his job. We have saw several family's of dolphins and we have saw sea turtles. He will take you to shell island and let you swim around for a bit or the last couple of times he took us to a sand dollar spot. Do NOT go here if you need anything other than a standard air fill. Not sure how a shop that has rebreather classes and tech classes operating out of here can be so bad at partial pressure fills. Tried to give these guys a second chance but between consistently getting fills under rated pressure, wrong mixes, and getting double charged for wrongly mixed fills for "my mistakes", I'll be taking my business elsewhere to one of the other 3 dive shops within a 5 minute radius. read more

All positive experience. While on vacation, I got the dive bug and stopped by Panama City Diving. Immediately upon entering the shop, I picked up on the relaxed atmosphere. I was recovering from a previous surgery, and Baylee accommodated my limitations. Baylee did an excellent job providing a guided dive of the St. Andrew's State Park jetties. The pace of the dive allowed the divers to explore all that the jetties have to offer. I was surprised at the amount of diverse marine life. We had a group ranging from brand new to decades of experience for a 4th of July morning dive. The experience was wonderful thanks to the PC Diving team. We were well informed and well entertained. They even took the time to walk us through the diagrams of each dive site. They helped with gear and answered questions on any topic. The sites (Black Part and one of the spans..) were great. The dive master gave us conditions and pointers on how to interpret the conditions (I.e., current). we were incredibly happy with their service and the whole experience. I had the opportunity to dive with PC Diving today. It was such a great trip! I had not been diving for a few years and was a little rusty, but the crew was quick to answer any questions I had and made sure I was comfortable before I went down. We went on two dives: the first to a sunken bridge span, and the second to a sunken ship (the Red Sea). Both dives were a lot of fun! We saw lots of fish and some from our trip saw some rays and a shark. The captain slowed the boat down on the way back to the harbor for us to stop and watch some dolphins. Overall, it was a great diving trip. I would definitely recommend this company and will go again myself! read more

You can totally tell these guys love what they do and share what they know. They aren't arrogant and cocky but really want to teach and make you a better diver. My husband and I completed our open water certification with them and couldn't have felt more comfortable doing so. The reviews you are reading are real!! And that care for the diver & experience shows throughout the entire dive. They stock the cooler, at their expense, with water, Gatorade & Snickers, to ensure no diver suffers needlessly from dehydration or lack during a voyage. Sitting in beanbags making friends with crew & passengers on the flying deck for the 12 mile trek out to USS Accokeek is topped only by snoozing in those same bags for the journey home. Chris was an excellent captain, explaining all boat & dive information clearly & cheerfully, going out of his way to ensure everyone was satisfied & cared for in a manner that was both totally professional but completely relaxed. And his Mate Ben was the most politely unassuming seaman you'll ever hope to meet. If you want a sackful of t-shirts go to one of the other stores. But if you want the best diving experience to be had in PCB, go to PCD, & you'll probably make some new friends in the bargain. *though lacking t-shirts, their store is however well-stocked with all of the actual equipment you need for your dives read more

I don't write many reviews, but when I do, I try to be detailed. In June (2016), I traveled from Memphis, TN to Rosemary Beach, FL for a family vacation with my family and my in-laws. While they sat on the beach and by the pool, I obtained my Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Nitrox Certifications with Panama City Diving. My instructor was Matt Walz. I meant to write this review as soon as I returned to Memphs, but yeah, I got lazy haha. For the training, the shop had all the gear the students needed and it was all in good condition. For my OWD class, there was one other guy in the class, from Atlanta, GA. Matt was very nice, knowledgeable, and confident in his skills. He was patient and very easy going. The other guy in my class had some difficulty with some of the skills and with equalizing. Matt was very patient with him and coached him through his difficulties. Matt coached us through the training dives and the post-dive equipment maintenance. After the OWD class, the other guy thanked Matt and said he enjoyed the class so much, that he wanted his wife to come down from Atlanta to train with Matt, to obtain her OWD certification. For both the OWD and AOWD we went to the jetties very early in the morning, to beat the tide, and were always the first people there. After our first dives, we would run into several other instructors and their students from other dive shops in the area. Some of the other instructors were so cocky and arrogant they were obnoxious. They would brag about how many dives they had been on and how awesome they thought they were. Matt was very easy going and his quiet confidence spoke much louder than the blow-hards. For the AOWD class, there were supposed to be 4 other people in the class, but they all had to cancel for some reason, so it was just Matt and myself. Having one on one instruction was great. One morning, after walking back to the pavilion, from the jetties, having completed a training dive, I noticed I had dropped my mask somewhere. I told Matt and went back to the "kiddie pool" area of the jetties to find it. After I didn't quickly return, Matt walked back down and helped me find it. After I walked back to the jetties to find the mask, some of the other cocky instructors had given Matt sh*t about me, his student, being stupid enough to lose my mask. He told me about it and we both laughed at them for being a-holes. I don't see how students can be comfortable training with people like that. On the last day of my week long dive training, I completed the Nitrox certification and it was just as enjoyable as the other classes. Spending the week with the people from Panama City Diving, with Matt as my instructor, was great. Everyone was very nice and pleasant to be around. I highly recommend this shop to anyone considering dive training or just looking for good people to go diving. We have gone to Rosemary Beach as a family for the past several years. Now, for the future, I plan on diving with these folks instead of just roasting on the beach. I enjoyed it enough that my wife and daughter are signed up to get their OWD certification next month with Panama City Diving. I will post gopro photos and videos from the training later. read more

The crew of the Steel Slinger and the people working the shop have been amazing! My wife and I went out to do two Nitrox dives on the Hover Craft and the Bridge Span. My wife is very prone to sea sickness and to put it into proportion, she did not get sick. And when I mentioned it to Ben, the Divemaster, he was sure to let her get in the water as soon as she was ready. Also the Divemaster gave excellent instruction and tips to avoid any possibilities of injury. Also the Captain, Josh was great with his instruction and had a few good one liners to keep the mood light. After diving we made it back to the shop and Ben Carpenter, Mayday, and Pat helped my wife, myself and our friend pick out gear and learn some of the differences between BC's, regulators, and dive computers. Some of the gear may seem pricy but that's only because they are picky with the gear that they offer. I would recommend this shop to anyone, including loved ones to get certified and look for gear!! read more

Discover Scuba, a 3 hour crash course in diving, is worth every penny. After a short classroom session, Aleese, the best instructor, took time to explain everything about what ifs and what to expect. She gave us another water location option in case the current was too strong--way better than just canceling our trip. I struggled with anxiety during practice and getting started in the water; I didn't think I was going to be able to dive. So Aleese literally took my hand and held it the whole way during our dive--a simple gesture that made all the difference. I was able to dive with my husband and son & experience a whole new world.
