If you're looking to get scuba diving certification at any level Red Alert Diving is the place to go in Panama City. Hubby (already certified) & I went in just to inquire about classes, I was extremely concerned about the swimming test because I'm not a very good/confident swimmer. After talking with Todd, we decided I should try a swim lesson in their on site pool with Kada. Within an hour I was confident enough to sign up for my e-learning & set a class date. I won't lie when say I was extremely nervous about the whole thing. Day 1 was in the pool (our class size was 6) & what an amazing pair of instructors we had! Josh & Kada truly made the whole process confidence building while assuring skills are achieved & well practiced. Day 2 was out at Morrison Springs working on newly acquired skills. Day 3 was supposed to be a boat dive however weather conditions were not good so we went back to Morrison Springs to finish up our open water certification. My husband and I went diving last week with Red Alert and I cannot thank them enough. We did the 2 tank dive. We were both very nervous since this was our first salt water /open ocean dive. There was a lot of things we were nervous about. There was a dive master with 2 students on board and he reassured us that we'd do fine. We are both Open water certified through another company out of state. My husband and I were both nauseous from the rocking of the boat combined with the nerves. I honestly started panicking once we were in the water and all ready to descend. The dive master and boat captain were both right there trying to calm me down. Told me to breathe and that it'd be better once we got under the waves. Once we got underwater it was quite cool to see the wrecks and the marine life. The current was not noticeable and we swam along the wrecks just fine. The water temp was not bad at 60 ft. We had on our 5mm wetsuits. On the second dive I accidentally inflated my BCD too much trying to get my buoyancy at 55/60 ft. I had an issue getting the air out and alerted my dive buddy that I needed help. We both skyrocketing up to 20 ft due to all the air. My husband was able to get a bit of air out before the dive mater got to us. The dive master must have noticed us right away because he was there in no time and pulled my air dump valve (which I'd completely forgotten about). He helped get us both back down to 60 ft safely. After that, we were able to still have a great time and swam around the wreck, saw lots of fish. I am grateful for the caring people at Red Alert Diving and their patience. They were level headed when I was not. We will definitely be back. If it's been a while since you've dove, you're nervous, or have reservations about diving in the open ocean; I can honestly say that you're in good hands at Red Alert. read more

This is a great facility and the people working there are amazing. Amazing instruction. Safety, attentiveness, skill and fun are at the forefront of their lessons. Very affordable. They have a very nice store for all Your gear. They also offer swim lessons with pop kids and Mary Dale is unbelievable. So good with the kids. Have been to all dive shops in pcb area and decided to get cert thru Red Alert Diving. Layout of shop is best I've seen. My instructor was about as knowledgeable and professional as you can possibly get. Prices of equipment are good, especially when you sell the brand Atomic. Safety is this dive shops #1 priority and that really put me at ease. On-site heated pool is much better to conduct confined dives, loved it. Would highly suggest to others. read more

Me and my wife got certified through another place and all our dives was fresh water. This was our first ever salt water dive and first dive as since our certification. We were nervous and the dive masters with us was just amazing and very helpful and encouraging. They really went above and beyond for us and we really appreciated it. If you are looking for a top tier dive education center for any class or if you are looking for some high quality gear there is no better place in NorthWest FL than Red Alert Diving. The onsite pool and classroom are top notch, making for a great place to learn scuba and get certified. Todd, and Mandi are elite instructors, and Todd is also a bit of a legend in the upper ends of the Scuba world. Ive run into folks in other continents that know who Todd is, and theres a reason for that. He is the role model for elite Scuba knowledge, instruction, and development in and around the dive community all over the world. So if you want the best for professional education get with Todd. Mandi is also phenomenal. James runs the shop and is also a pro and very knowledgeable about his products, and RAD only carries the best products with some competitive prices too. I just finished my IDC with RAD and Todd made everything smooth, comfortable and flexible. There is nothing about RAD that isnt elite. Allthough, I now live in MO I still make the trip to RAD for any of my needs. Thats how fantastic they are, and I definitely give them a 5 out of 5 do recommend. We got our open water certification here. They were great helping us set up a class and was willing to work with our schedule and the fact that we did the online portion of the class at a different dive shop and with ssi instead of padi. Chance was a great instructor! He made me feel safe and less anxious in the water. Definitely recommend them! read more

I am totally new to diving so I don't feel I can give five stars at this time but I will update this review as I learn. I did the introductory day-long course at RAD with my wife and daughter and it was fabulous and fun. Lots of learning crammed in to five hours or so including a fun trip out to the St. Andrews jetty for som real time in the water. Well worth $100 if you want to see if scuba is for you. This weekend my daughter and I completed all the pool work for basic open water cert and it was again great. Mandi was a perfect instructor and took the time to focus on what were our weak points and still get through everything. Next weekend we will finish up and I expect more of the same. We also purchased mask, fins and snorkel at their shop. I suppose it was more expensive than online but it was worth having Chase talk us through what to look for and he didn't try to sell the most expensive items...just what we needed. And there is a discount for their students. Oh, and the equipment they rent and provide for students is really solid gear. I think I'll be spoiled when I go to buy my own BCD. Bottom line...I'm very happy so far. Also I'm curious how yelp includes only a couple one and two star reviews, but has about seven five star reviews hidden in their "not recommended" section. What makes those reviews invalid? Seems unfair to the business. read more

I think not... One thing I see from this business response is taking customer concerns and putting a spin and untruthfulness on them. Not cool. I came in when the shop was open for business. If you are open for business shouldn't you be able to you know, provide the services that your business offers? What is a dive business without diving services? If your boat isn't up and running yet and your training pool hasn't been opened yet you probably opened a bit prematurely anyways but no matter, that's no big deal. In such a case you should probably offer some basic services to get people in and using your shop, no? When a business opens, having specials or dare I say good deals is how you get people in and gain business. It's not "undercutting" some niche market and putting everyone else out of business. At the very least offer your rentals for what other shops offer them at. There is a difference in being at the same price or on the high end of others in the area and being a lot more expensive. In the Panhandle you can rent tanks all day for $8 each with $10 being the high end and $12 being the most expensive I have seen, again, in the Panhandle area. Having a fair price is not "cut rate" or undercutting, that is ridiculous. Also when I came in I simply asked how much tank rentals were and was told to call back, which I did. I was asked if I was going diving soon and I said I had planned on going the following Saturday. I was told to come into the shop and that the owner would work out some good prices by then. I came in and was hit up with $15 tank rentals. Not a good deal at all and misleading as to what I was told. No "special consession" was being requested or made for me, again a bit ridiculous. I'm glad not all businesses in life are afraid of offering good pricing because they don't want be "cut rate" or "undercut." If you want to be expensive and exclusive do so but be honest about it, about what your goal in business is and be honest with your customers about it instead of trying to spin things around to make it sound different than what it is. Can't say I would be back after that response. read more

Had a flawless experience doing my PADI IDC with everyone at Red Alert Diving. Not only was the instruction exceptional, but their support after the IDC and throughout the IE was unmatched. Saying I felt prepared would be a serious understatement. I would recommend anyone in the world to come learn from Todd and James. Also as far as going out diving with this crew goes: the boat is NICE, the rental gear is NICER, and the staff operate at 110% every time. RAD is my home away from home in the Panhandle. read more

Just finished the Open Water course with Red Alert and they were absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! We talked to all the PCB dive shops and for what we wanted (personalized service, learning at our pace, scheduling flexibility, multiple dive locations, etc.) Red Alert quickly rose to the top and lived up to their slogan "only the best". As a new business they are truly striving to exceed the other PCB dive shops. In our opinion, they've already succeeded. Soon their learning pool will be completed and they will really be poised to customize your learning. Sure, we could have chosen to go with a cheaper (and less flexible) alternative but Red Alert's dedication to teaching and encouraging our continued progress was worth every dollar we spent.
