Gosh, we tried hard to like the place as an alternative to other National burrito chain but alas, it simply fell short. Between the service, cleanliness and food - each area was critically disappointing. Service was sloth-slow and emotionless. It's understandable that all fast food is suffering from labor shortages and the big sign in window made it clear they were too. Cleanliness was failing. Maybe due to shortage of staff but the location was dirty. Most concerning - food temperature, appearance and taste. Incorrect Temperature at a restaurant can make a person sick. And the steam table at this location was not proper. Everything was overly/unnecessarily salty.

I absolutely love pancheros and the food they have to offer. But this location specifically (Arden Hills, MN) has the WORST customer service. The workers here speak and yell to each other in Spanish while laughing obnoxiously throughout the entire restaurant to each other. it's the only thing you hear when you're trying to enjoy your food that was prepared by some unhappy, slow moving, "quit bothering me" - attitude workers. They have accents that are tough to understand sometimes, so you better not dare ask them to re-say something or their attitude will grow and continue to effect the customers that come into this location that want to enjoy the food it has to offer. If you're tying pancheros for the first time, go to a different location where the workers actually enjoy serving you.

We had this for the first time and I would say it's a little bit better than chipotle but along the same lines. Although I liked it I would rather support mom and pop shops near by. We each got a burrito I got mine with no meat and my mom got here with chicken. We also both got tacos I got mine with tofu and hers with carnitas. She liked her tacos more than her burrito and I was the opposite. My tofu in my tacos was SO salty it was really hard to eat. Overall I maybe would go back but it's not a must have, that being said everything was good.

Before entering I expected it to resemble a Chipotle. Which is basically did, but seemed to have brighter colors. The menu is limited to tacos, quesadilla, burrito, bowls, and then your choice of meat. One thing I really think is cool/different is the tortilla is fresh and they have a compression machine where they make the tortilla right in front of you to see. Which is pretty awesome. I ordered the quesadilla. I was not satisfied because they only put cheese and my meat in it (chicken). I was surprised I was not asked if I want anything else inside of it. The chicken was basically flavorless. The only thing I really liked was the fresh tortilla. Other than that prices are average, and the food was just alright. Since Chipotle is so close to here I'd just go there instead.

    Butt of iceberg lettuce head

Not usually one to write reviews however I had the worst burrito bowl ever today. The "lettuce" they added was large pieces of the butt end of a head of iceberg lettuce. Wtf? See photos for all of the shitty lettuce that was in my bowl.

Sub par. Small portions of fillers for burritos, bowls, ect. Save your money and go across the street because Chipotle is WAY better.

As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance that's common in many Midwest restaurants, with rustic charm and a welcoming vibe. We were promptly checked in and seated at a cozy table that gave us a perfect view of the bustling restaurant. Our server, Monica, immediately made an impression with her friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm for the menu. With so many tempting options, we took a little time to peruse, and she patiently guided us through the extensive selections, recommending some of her personal favorites. We decided to kick things off with a couple of refreshing drinks; I chose the rich and robust Negra Modelo while my girlfriend opted for the smooth and crisp Victoria. Both drinks perfectly set the tone for a fantastic evening ahead. As for the food, it surpassed our expectations. I ordered the carne asada, and let me tell you, it was absolutely divine--a medley of flavors that danced on my palate! The steak was perfectly grilled, tender, and well-seasoned, served with a side that complemented it beautifully. My girlfriend chose the chimichangas, which were nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. Crisp on the outside and bursting with savory goodness on the inside, she was more than pleased with her choice. The portion sizes were nothing short of gigantic, and the generous helpings made it clear that this place doesn't hold back when it comes to satisfying their guests. We quickly filled our plates and savored every last bite, knowing we might have to roll ourselves out of there by the end of our meal! Throughout our time there, Monica continued to shine. She was remarkably attentive, ensuring that our drinks were refilled promptly and checking in to make sure we were enjoying everything. Her warm service added a personal touch that made our experience even more enjoyable. One of the great bonuses is the ample parking available in front of the restaurant, which is always a plus. Additionally, there's a shopping center next door where you can pick up groceries at Aldi or grab some liquor at Merwin's. It's the perfect spot to round off the evening or stock up on essentials. Overall, our visit was a delightful experience filled with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and outstanding service. This place has certainly earned a spot on our go-to list for future outings!

First off, plenty of private on-site parking, which is always a win in the city. Inside, the space is stunning. Large windows line most of the walls, flooding the café with warm, natural light. There's an impressive variety of seating depending on your vibe--couches, high-top tables, standard tables, bar-style seating facing the gorgeous large windows, and even solo setups if you're craving true alone time. Thoughtful and inviting in every way. The service was equally lovely. Monroe, the barista who helped me, made a spectacular Iced Brown Sugar Honey Latte--so good I ordered a second after I finished my first one. He was happy to answer all of my questions about the bakery items, breakfast offerings, and the horchata lattes that caught my eye. I ultimately went with the Chicken Chilaquiles, and wow... that was absolutely the right move. The dish featured warm, juicy chunks of chicken breast over crispy fried tortilla chips, topped with fried eggs, sliced avocado, beets, cotija cheese, and tomatillo sauce. The sauce wasn't spicy, but had just enough gentle heat to balance the tanginess of the green tomato beautifully. I also appreciated that the chips weren't overly drenched, allowing each ingredient to shine. Crunchy, flavorful, satisfying, and filling--everything you want in a breakfast. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the apple empanada. It may have been a one-off, but mine didn't quite hit the mark. Flavor-wise, it was good and accurately described as a slice of fried apple pie. Where it fell short for me was the filling-to-dough ratio. The filling was very minimal and almost paste-like, likely due to being reheated rather than baked fresh that day. I would've loved a filling with chunks of apples or simply more filling overall. Overall, the morning/afternoon I spent here brought me so much joy. I loved that there was no time limit--I was able to get a ton of work done while sipping delicious coffee, enjoying a slow, satisfying breakfast, and soaking in the sunshine. Vivir is a space that truly works for so many occasions: solo time, catching up with friends, family visits, or settling in for a few hours. I'll happily be returning whenever I'm in NE Minneapolis.

The shrimp was flavorful and the salad bright. I used some of the cilantro salsa that came with the chips as dressing and it was great. It happened to be my birthday and they brought out some churros as a treat, which was really nice. The churros, however, were pretty bad. Super dense and chewy. The service definitely added an extra star and that waiter (I didn't get her name) should get some recognition. I would put this in the "group pleasing", "work happy hour" bucket of restaurants. The menus appear to be the same, the spaces are large enough to accommodate big crowds, the service is efficient and friendly, and the food is consistent. The open layout is appealing and fits the "classic diner" vibe perfectly. The other thing they share is HUGE portions. For example, my wife ordered the "short stack with bacon." It sounds innocent enough, but the pancakes are the size of hubcaps and stuffed with what feels like a bushel of blueberries. That's not a bad thing, but my wife ended up taking home about 3/4 of it--which turned into several more breakfasts! By the way, the pancakes were incredibly fluffy and flavorful. I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Again, it was a massive portion, but I heroically finished it all. The mashed potatoes seemed scratch-made and the gravy was plentiful. I liked the turkey, though I'm not entirely sure it was roasted in-house. The menu says "real turkey," and while I'm sure that's true, as a bit of a turkey fanatic, the flavor was just slightly different than what I'm used to. Regardless, I really enjoyed it. Fat Nat's clearly has their act together; all three locations are remarkably consistent. For a hearty breakfast or lunch, this place is highly recommended. Pro Tip: Be careful with what children or grandchildren order. Guide them toward the kid's menu or make sure they order conservatively from the main menu--unless you're looking to bring home a week's worth of leftovers!
