Really delicious street tacos and wings. They have a happy hour that runs till 5pm on weekdays. Tacos are 2 for $6 and wings (alitas) were $10. Service was really great, all very nice and willing to give suggestions. We got chicken and steak tacos and they were sooooo good! Also got the tamarind habanero wings and they were really delicious. I just wish they had a sauce bar so I could've tried more sauces! Restaurant was very well decorated and ambiance was great!

!!! RUN HERE !!! SPRINT, EVEN!!! We got a beef torta and it was delicious. We also got two chicken tacos on the side, also delicious. Ordered a couple cocktails, they were yummy and not too sweet. (I find a lot of places make cocktails too sweet these days.) To top it off, we got tres leches cake. Not lying: it was the best tres leches we ever had in our lives. Waitress was super kind, cool, attentive, and quick on her feet. The vibe in there feels very safe like home but is also sexy and cool looking. The bar itself is impressive aesthetically too.

We originally had a reservation but needed to push it back, and the staff was very accommodating, which I really appreciated. The food overall was solid. The burrito was a good size and the carne asada inside was flavorful without being overly salty--a nice balance. My only critique is that it was rolled a bit messy and fell apart before I could really dig in, which made it harder to enjoy. On the other hand, the chips and salsa and queso con chorizo were spot on. The chips came out fresh with just the right crunch, and the salsas had great flavor that complemented everything perfectly.

Another excellent dinner at La Tapatía. This is one of our go to restaurants. Fast and friendly service. They've updated the interior a bit removing some high tops that weren't great a happy improvement. Definitely check this place out if you haven't been. You can park on the side since the lot by hotel and other restaurants gets pretty full.

Seating area, large garage door to the right that opens to outside seating.

Beautiful enchanting restaurant decor! Delicious shrimp tacos and house made chips. The restaurant was full and well attended so it's likely a local favorite. A couple of complaints - the carnitas were full of fat chunks and oil. We sat next to the outside and the bugs (got lots of bites) and flies were bad. So next time I would sit away from the open garage door. Staff were nice and amenable! Definitely would be back to try other menu items!

Assortment if street style tacos, side of rice, shrimp street style quesadilla.

The food here is delicious and fast, which keeps me coming back. The service is good/average. Four stars because the vibe is casual but really loud. The space definitely echos & is overstimulating sometimes. But the food is so good I come back regardless. - lots of indoor seating - seasonal patio - bar with good margs

La Tapatia is the sister spot to La Madre -- so I already knew it was going to hit. Had to try it, and I'm glad I did. Started with the birria tacos -- generous on the meat, super satisfying, 4/5. They could use a bit more seasoning, and the triple-stack of corn tortillas was a bit much, but overall still very solid and flavorful. The burritos? Massive. Packed with flavor and definitely worth the hype. I'd recommend going with the street-style burrito -- it's a banger. Now, let's talk drinks: 10/10. The tropical cocktail was a vacation in a glass -- fruity, pineapple garnish, tastes like summer. But the horchata carajillo stole the show. It's like a Latin spin on an espresso martini with RumChata -- creamy, coffee-forward, sweet, and dangerously good. I got two. No regrets. And of course, I had to try the michelada. Bloody Mary fans, this one's for you -- flavorful, bold, and huge. Seriously, it's a meal in itself. Service was good our server was attentive she was new and if she didn't know anything about the menu she would ask and get back to us on recommendations. All around, La Tapatia delivers. Great food, killer drinks, and good vibes. Definitely coming back.

Place is one of the best for authentic Mexican food in the suburbs. What started as a family taco stand has grown into a fun place to gather and enjoy great food in a chill environment. Chips and salsa are a must and you can gauge a mexican place by beans, types of meat, items offered and the type of salsa and Tapatia dials it up. Highly recommend carne asada street tacos, shrimp tacos, torta and burritos. Add a craft beer, mexican coke or sprite and take a siesta after it will be worth it!

    Welcoming to say the least

This place ROCKS! It is almost like a club, except they have crazy good food, draft beers and the biggest selection of tequila that I have ever seen in my life. At the bar the guy was a wizard with the knowledge of the menu, the beers and just about everything else too. La Tapatia can get a bit on the loud side, but it never got crazy. Selection here is the name of the game. There are tons of options for salsa, beers, tequila and food too. Thankfully the man behind the bar was there to help me decide. The quesadilla I had hit the spot. That and a few local beers and I was happy. Don't let the loud music throw you off, the food, service and the atmosphere make La Tapatia a great spot.

Food, service, and ambiance--all 5 out of 5! The restaurant itself is very cool, loved all the plants. The food was great, and the chips were out of this world good! I liked how the menu was laid out, giving you the option to choose any of the "bases" and then add your choice of meat. I got a chicken tinga burrito and made it a bowl--it was delicious and the perfect amount of food. I just had water with my meal, but they had a great lineup of local craft beer. I'll definitely be back!

Man. This place has blown up and reservations are needed. I kid you not, they have a ton of indoor and outdoor seating and walk up for about a dozen at the bar but even that is a 1/2 hour to 45 minute wait. Besides this being quite the success story (food truck, small business on Larpenteur, to this location and possibly one happening in Mpls), the food is really kickass! First let's start with drinks. Since La Tapatia took over a former New Bohemia space, they kept ALL the tap lines. I think I remember the bartender saying that there were 30 lines and 25 of those are probably local lines which is pretty cool. They also offer all sorts of other drinks from wine to marg's and more. The food and soup's are amazing. The cebollita's (small fried onions), are crack! Everything is fantastic about this place. And then last year, wifey and I tied the knot and we used La Tapatia to cater it. I had heard horror stories about other couples using food trucks with slow service and La Tapatia crushed it. They premade everything and even had vegetarian options. It wasn't just beans & rice for the non-meat eaters, we were able to offer up Abe's moms' special recipe of pineapple tamales. Wow! We had been in Mexico City earlier that year and had some cranberry tamales and they were so good. The pineapple though blew my mind they were so good. It's not gonna be anything you see on the menu. Seriously, this is really a great success story and if you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

Fresh and flavorful...just two words that described our lunch this afternoon at La Tapatia. We've been wanting to go here for over a year once a friend catered this restaurant for their son's high school graduation party. It was the best Mexican food I tried so far in the twin cities. We decided to head over during the early afternoon after a wonderful visit to the Como Park Zoo. We didn't realize they took reservations and luckily our tentative 20 minute wait for a table turned into a 1 minute wait, yay! We ordered all at once...large order of chips with 2 salsas. One avocado and one green with jalapeños. Both were sooo good and I love that they leave you with the entire bottle so not only can you use it with your chips but with your main entree. Score! I ordered a camarones alambre cali style. It was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to come back to try more awesome options! Some additional info: they are closed on Mondays. Make reservations cause even in the off hours (mid afternoon) they are busy (they are just that good). Half their restaurants inside is high top tables where the seats do not have backs (they are just stools)...for those with small kiddos. Lovely patio for summer time. Review #450!

I'm sorry Jason. You really had my hopes up when you were talking about Betty and Earl"s biscuits…read moreon your show but you've proven to me once again that unless you were raised in the South or by a Southern transplant you don't have a clue about baking soda biscuits. A good southern biscuit is hard to find in Minnesota. In my house they are served warm. and soft, usually fresh from the oven. A dab of butter melted inside sets them off perfectly. If a restaurant in Minnesota says it has Biscuits and Gravy I can't resist trying it only to be disappointed over and over again. That being said, KFC and Hardee's both have a good biscuits. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with frozen Pillsberry Grand Buttermilk Biscuits. Not the ones that come in a tube. So why would I go to a bakery in a mall that opens at 11 to get a biscuit? I trusted Jason. He sounded so sincere. Huh! Big mistake, I should have checked out his genealogy. The actual place is in the food court in the Rosedale Mall and the sign says, "Seeet and Savory by Diane" . The first warning was seeing the biscuits on a covered cake tray like you might stack doughnuts. These people are bakers after all not cooks. So, we wait for the lady at the counter to finish helping the person in front of us and then we asked for biscuits and gravy. The lady walks over to the sign and shows us the little sticker they added that says, "Weekend's Only". I was already wondering why anyone would start serving breakfast at 11. While we were trying to figure out if that applied to every item on the board or just the biscuits and gravy another customer got in front of us. We decided to ask for biscuit and egg sandwich's and a cup of coffee. Well, they only make one craft of coffee a day and when it's out it's out. If we wanted coffee we were told we need to go to the Brew and Waffle concession a few feet away. Alright no big deal, but over there no one's behind the counter and I am baffled as to what is going on. It doesn't seem to be self serve but there is a young lady sitting at the counter eating. Finally she gets up and acknowledges me by telling me she's on break but but since I'm there, she'll help me out anyway. She made it very clear that I was inconveniencing her. Well then, put up a closed sign or a "Back at 1pm" sign. Let's just skip on to describing the biscuit sandwich or more precisely the $10 (the sign said $8 I think) biscuit sandwich. The biscuits were big and thick and yellowish in color. I wondered if they added cornmeal to the flour. They had a gritty texture but not as gritty as cornbread. Ok, next time we'll try Betty and Earl's Minneapolis location. And Jason, spend a weekend south of the Mason-Dixon line and learn a little more about biscuits. Damn! I'm so sorry! I forgot to take pictures.

I've had two meals from Betty and Earl's and both are meals I would order again…read more While the plague perpetuates I am only getting curbside takeout, and their system for that works just fine. Ordering from the website is easy; you can opt for curbside delivery, and once your order goes through you get an email with instructions to call them when you arrive. There is a handy little parking circle by the main entrance to Potluck; that area gets plenty of traffic but your call with a friendly B&E's person will ensure that they find your car among the group. I got the biscuits with sausage gravy the first time and the pulled pork open-face biscuit thingie the second. Both were really good. The sausage gravy was a great, meaty brunch item, and the pulled pork was really delicious. Having piles of shredded BBQ pork on top of those thick, freshly-made biscuits was a unique experience. As long as you don't mind getting your fingers a little messy - and if you're eating pulled pork then honestly what do you expect - you just form a pile on one of the biscuits and hold it by the biscuit as you snack it down. There will be leftover meat that you can eat with a fork. I got yummy fresh cookies both times as well, and ended up full and satisfied. One issue I have with the website is that there isn't a description of the entrees, so you don't necessarily know what will come on them and there's no option to request, for instance, "hold the pickles". But that's about it; I really like the food I've gotten here and will keep it coming.

Cozy Hmong-American restaurant with French-influenced pastries? Count me in! I literally updated my destination to this restaurant while in the uber and decided to grab a bit of food before heading to my hotel. I had no reservation, but arriving a little after 1 pm on a Monday had no wait for a bar seat. It's such a cozy, homey restaurant with light wood, light brick, natural light, few plants inside and a very casual patio with picnic tables outside. I could see this place being a tough reservation during peak times. I hadn't eaten all day and was extremely hungry. I opted for the king crab omelette with red curry beurre blanc. I got a side of sticky rice to make it slightly heartier since I was so hungry and got some pastries to go, since I was in a bit of a time crunch to make it to my hotel and take some work calls. Service was incredibly friendly and fast. My server really did Minneapolis proud, chatted with me about my trip, gave me other great goodie recommendations to fill out my dining for the week, and overall really made the visit special. The crab omelette was unreal. Simultaneously fresh, light, but with a hint of kick and richness from the red curry beurre blanc. Excellent flavor combo. I got the crab Rangoon danish and the coconut pandas croissant to go and ate them for breakfast the next day and they were still so light and fresh with unreal flavor combos.
