we stopped into this restaurant tonight because we were craving Mexican hadn't been here before, and saw that it had good ratings. The food was pretty good. The portions were generous, but the food was a little bit too salty. The 80 people, and it was a little less than half full tonight when we were there. It was noisy, and it got worse for two birthday parties when the staff turn the music up to a level that from having a conversation until it was over. I have to admit that it was surprising to hear whistles at a Mexican restaurant in light of events. Unfortunately, we will probably not go back because the service was very very poor. We had to ask for multiple times before we got them, and it seemed like the staff just kept forgetting us. Prices are OK. read more

I really wanted to enjoy Fridaa in Spring Lake Park, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. The people tho super nice Started with a mango margarita that was more syrupy mix than balance way too sweet for my taste. I ordered a meal I usually enjoy at most Mexican restaurants (even though it wasn't on the menu), and while I appreciate the effort to recreate .it, the execution fell short. The meat could've used way more seasoning, and the rice was underwhelming. I also expected a fresh, tableside guac experience, but it came out already made, which was disappointing. Craving Mexican food? Look no further, this place is legit!! Located in a strip mall, this restaurant has plenty of free parking! Inside, the music is loud, the drinks are plentiful and the service was great! The vibes feel like you have been transported out of Minnesota! They played plenty of bachata music! (It was a bit loud, but we still liked it). There are booths or tables for seating. The service to begging was slow... but it was a tad busy. Our server Jennifer was a delight! Very sweet :) The food: The complimentary chips and salsa were delish! Loved both salsas! There is a mild and spicy one delivered to your table. The quesabirria tacos are to die for! Soooo good! The consume is a little tomato forward but still perfect for dipping! My boyfriend got the chicken fajitas which were seasoned so well! We also got a tostada ceviche which had what tasted like a balsamic drizzle on it. This was not our favorite, but only because we didn't like the drizzle. Definitely give this restaurant a try! Do not be discouraged by the fact that it is in a strip mall. Once you step in, the ambience is quaint authentic! One of the servers was playing a ukulele! The service was absolutely perfect, and the food was fabulous. We ordered the authentic nachos, and a burrito. The nachos were great, not traditional nachos, but very authentic Mexican nachos. Finally made time to try this restaurant. The pink colors caught my attention. Colorful restaurant, the pink neon lights and grass wall. We greeted at the door, server was really nice. This is by far the BEST Mexican restaurant in the entire area. A small, petite, full food and full bar restaurant that serves truly authentic Mexican food. This is usually one of my favorite to go spots locally . I went there for cinco de mayo the food was great but the service was not. I felt rush the whole time. We ordered the quessabirria because it's the best but we were not served water right away just chips. I was also confused on who our server was because we had like 5 different people. I understand cinco de mayo is a busy time but you shouldn't make guest feel like there's a timer on the dinning experience. At one point the server just brung us a bill when we had already ordered another drink and my friend was still working on her food and the server was literally taking her plate. I also asked our 3rd server for napkins and she never came I ended up leaving with messy hands and used the bathroom at the dollar store nearby. Love this place but would not go when it's busy. Maybe for busy holidays such as cinco de mayo hire more staff and take reservations only. We went to Frida's on Cinco De Mayo and loved it! Frida's is located in a strip mall and there is plenty of parking spots outside. We walked up and they had an inflatable sign and a bull riding ring. We didn't test it out, but saw a few kids go on it outside. Super fun! Our server, Emily, sat us right away. She was super sweet and very prompt! The food was also very authentic and tasty. I ordered 3 street tacos and my fiance ordered the fajitas. Would recommend! The inside was also super cute and decorated very nicely. Overall I would recommend! read more

TLDR - loved it. We tried Frida's little Mexico Restaurant because my husband was in the mood for Mexican food, and this place got some pretty good reviews. It is a very unassuming place from the outside, in the middle of a little strip mall. When we walked in on a Saturday night around 8:00pm we were greeted and seated right away. The place was not crowded, about half full, but we were there well past the dinner rush. The place was cute and cozy, lighting was dim but not so much so that you couldn't see the menu, etc. It was a spacious table layout, not crowded in at all - which I like. There are 3 TVs that were playing Hispanic music videos. The music was a little too loud for my taste, my husband and I could barely hear the soft spoken waitress. You can see the full bar at the back of the restaurant. The tables were pretty, each with different artwork, and there were real flowers on the tables. We both ordered a top shelf margarita, and they were very good. It tasted like they use their own house made mix with real limes, not a store bought mix. Instead of salt there was a Tajin rim on the margarita, which I thought was a nice change of pace. They brought chips and two types of salsa to the table, red and green. They were too spicy for my taste, but I am a wimp. My husband enjoyed them and said they tasted very good. Service was fast and friendly, the staff seemed to really know what they were doing. I ordered the taco salad with chicken and it was really good. The shell was pretty standard, but the salad itself was packed full of chicken and beans. I had to dig a little to find the rice and lettuce, which I was happy to do. My husband had the Carnitas platter and said it was very flavourful and very good. Someone in the restaurant was having a birthday and the staff made a big fuss, a lot of fun. They, the whole staff, came out with a slice of cake and several sparklers, and they were blowing whistles. There was a birthday song over the loudspeaker and they sang along, all of the patrons were clapping along. They also brought out a shot of what looked to be tequila for the birthday girl. They had the birthday girl take a bite of the cake without a fork, and very gently pushed the cake into her face so she had a frosting mustache. Lots of fun. When they brought the check there are QR codes to pay by ApplePay or Gpay. We paid with ApplePay, so I don't know what other types of payment are accepted. Food was fine. Very authentic. Service was good. However, I find it very difficult to enjoy a business when politics are the overwhelming message as you walk into the establishment. Two signs confront you when you walk into the door. "Everyone is welcome, EXCEPT, federal agents." Clearly not everyone is welcome. So . . . I don't feel welcomed. This is the last time we will visit this restaurant. Really wanted to like this place, but politics aside, the message is clear. NOT EVERYONE IS WELCOME. I really wanted to like this place, but service was slow to come to our table, slow to take our order, and slow to deliver our drinks. When our drinks came, the Pina Colada was mostly a mixture of big chunks of ice and whipped cream. Couldn't taste any rum in it or much other flavor. A small bowl of chips with salsa were brought to the table. We asked for some extras when we finished them, and we got a charge for chips on our bill. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. The fish was cooked to perfection with a nice crisp and soft texture. The sauce had a good spice, but not too spicy and the octopus was a great combination to the meal. The service is OK the margaritas were amazing read more

I've been in this area countless times and never noticed this spot. Oh boy, have I been missing out! It truly feels like a hidden gem hiding in plain sight. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses, but we had no trouble finding a spot. The friendly server seated us right away, and we had chips and salsa within minutes of sitting down. We took advantage of the 2-for-1 drink special and ordered two margaritas. For food, we tried the El Pastor taco plate and the carnitas taco plate. Everything was fantastic! I'm always on the hunt for a nice ambiance and good food, and this place delivered. The space isn't fancy, but it's very nice and clean. We'll definitely be returning. read more

I live close by and was surprised I haven't heard of this place before. The server said they've only been opened about a year and a half. My new to go taco place, and honestly best tacos I've had in Minnesota. Most tacos when you get them, they're almost always under seasoned, but this place, the meats came perfectly seasoned and moist. Ceviche is the best I've also had so far in MN as well. I'm definitely going back when my taco cravings call me. They also have happy hour! BOGO beer! Stopped by on a Sunday night around midnight, the server was so nice and attentive. She got our water and drinks right away, we all ordered the Birria tacos and they were FINGER LICKING GOOD. Good amount of meat and cheese and topped with cilantro and onion, the consume was tasty not watered down at all. We started off with chorizo queso which was also very delicious and you get a decent amount. 3 cocktails were ordered all very good and pretty big. I would definitely recommend coming here for authentic Mexican food, the music and restaurant vibes are it! Only thing I'd change is maybe having napkins at the table, did have to ask multiple times for napkins but other than that this place gets a 10/10. read more

Service Horrible more socializing than serving their customers, music way too loud. Food has No flavor flour shells you could use as a frisbee. Servers never even came back to see how any of our food was. We had to ask for extra water and more chips at the table where they were socializing. Pretty much a joke. This is a hidden gem! Tucked into a corner of a little strip mall, you have to look to find it. We went with a group of about 12 on a Thursday afternoon. There was only one server working, but she did a great job of getting all the orders in and keeping the drinks full. Super cute place, tile tables and Mexican decor.
