The food here is pretty good, but the service ruined it. The cashier asked me to tip just for getting takeout. After I paid, she asked, "Why didn't you tip?" When I explained that it was a takeout order and no service was being provided, she looked at me angrily and said goodbye. I won't be coming back here. Food is amazing but the service did not do it for me. Went in with the family and had a big order, they don't call the orders by name so they'll just yell out whatever food is ready. I went by and picked up what I thought was my food but was someone else's then was accused of having extras of the meal as the "cook" put the extra plate it on my table and the other person who actually ordered picked it up. She tried to charge me for an extra plate and she started yelling inside of the store saying "I know what I gave you" along with other things . Very disappointing experience. I went in with my kids to buy pandebonos and a few Colombian snacks for my family. We were inside for about 10 minutes and were never acknowledged. At one point, a waiter looked directly at us and then walked away, pretending to do something else. While we were still waiting, two other customers walked in after us, and a man behind the counter immediately went to take their order. It was uncomfortable enough that even the other customer appeared to notice what had happened. I am Colombian as well, but it felt like assumptions were made based on appearance. No one greeted us, told us they'd be right with us, or offered any explanation. I don't usually jump to conclusions or assume racism, but in this situation it's very hard to see what else it could have been. Respectful service should be extended to everyone, especially families. These are the best pandebonos in town! The bakery is pretty small, they have an array of Colombian products for sale as well as the delicious pastries. As you walk in there are two counters with chairs, so seating is limited. But most people eat something simple, like an empanada, or just get their items to go. The empanadas are amazing! Perfectly crispy with flavorful meat inside and just the right amount. It is a must to have them with the hot sauce, this is a combo made in heaven. The pandebono is tender, cheesy, with the right amount of sweetness. Also try a bunuelo, its fluffy and not overly sweet, perfect with coffee. Everything is being constantly made fresh and comes out hot. This is the perfect spot for grab and go breakfast if you are in the area... and they open super early 6:30am! read more

ZERO STARS. Before ordering anything, ask for prices because the young blonde will deliberately overcharge you to see if she can get away with it and pocket the difference. I went in for a large soup, one bottled soda, a cookie and a buñuelo. The young blonde female charged me $39.68! Stupid of me not to have asked for the item prices in advance or even dispute the total before being charged, but my husband went back demanding a price breakdown and it turned out she deliberately overcharged me by $15! And I had tipped on top of that total. I have never felt so ripped off. I do not recommend this place. Never again. Slick staff. read more

Disclaimer - I am basing this review solely on the empanadas. I found out about this pace from my colleagues at work who ordered them at work a few times and they are absolutely AMAZING. My preference is for the chicken and the cheese however the beef is very good as well. The chicken empanadas have a good amount of cilantro and are surrounded by an extremely crispy dough. The cheese comes slightly cooler and in a solid piece, still within a hot and crispy dough. Perhaps my favorite part of the entire experience is the salsa it is served with. Fair warning it has a bit of kick to it. The bakery is fairly small in size with just two counters coming of of the walls with stools so I would say it can seat maybe eight people. Now that we finally have a Colombian in the office, I'm constantly harassing him for hidden Restaurants or Bakeries to hit. His name is "Val-De-Branch." One nearby recommendation from Val-de-Branch, was Pandebono. Reason: "Probably not the best bakery, but the Variety of Colombian pastries and empanadas they carry is really Great." We went early this morning and were greeted by a giant roasted pig stuffed with rice, chilling on the counter..... a New Years tradition for the evening festivities. We ordered the traditional variety of bread cheese pastries. Pandebono, pan de yuca and my favorite Buñuelo (It seems every country has a version of this Arabic fried goodness - Spain's best architecture was build during the Muslim rule... just saying). All were great and filling (see attached photos). Colombian pastries are not overly sweet, which I like. Area is in a tiny strip mall. Nothing fancy. Very tight space with a side counter @ stools to sit on. Large wall mirror helps the space tremendously. Note: Val-de-branch placed our orders as my Rosetta Stone failed me once again. This has become my favorite Colombian bakery in Miami to date. I haven't tried the mondongo so my go-to place for that is still in farther-away Miami Lakes (search my reviews) - but for everything else, this place hits the spot just perfectly. Why? It's the aroma. It's the buttery homemade taste. I can definitely taste the love they put into the work with their hands. It tasted as if it came from elsewhere, another planet - from America Latina. The empanadas colombianas were tasty, savory (beef), and buttery - just how I love them. And I could not ask for better from a bakery. I ordered two of these. The pan de yuca naturally doesn't have much flavor since yuca is almost nearly a flavorless starch (it's for this reason that Cubans add mojo to their yuca, Venezuelans add chimichurri, etc). So a yuca bread would naturally not have much of a taste - but this one had a good taste (and a buttery one - which is a plus in my book. Yup, I just love butter - I think you're getting the idea by now). Pan de bono - the buttery and lightly cheese-tasting bread was good too! This is a Colombian classic bread. And also the pan de queso (bread with cheese stuffed inside) was of a good size and tasty. People who would love tasting and seeing the actual cheese would love this bread. Again, good flavor here. Chicharrones - admittingly I haven't had them in a long while so when I saw the here, I could not bypass them. They were tasty here - no surprise. I've yet to have a bad piece of chicharrones in Colombian places. Maybe it's my luck? Tequeño were a surprise. This traditionally Venezuelan appetizer excelled here. Why? Because they put sugar in the dough to give it a nice contrast with the tasty, strong-tasting cheese us Latinos love. Great idea for a great taste. All this came at a low price ($10.35) and they accept credit card. With friendly women behind the counter, plenty of Colombian goods (sombrero de vueltiao (or the hat of barranquilla), artesanal bags, Colombian music, and other goods can be found here as well), you can be sure I will return - I'm hooked! read more

Even though I drive by this place all the time, I never knew the shop was there. I decided to try it based on Jordan N's review, since his recommendations are often pretty helpful. Tried a pan de bono, pan de queso, and an empanada. The food was ok. Not as good as stuff I used to get living in Jackson Heights, Queens, but still passable. The empanada smelled really good, but overall left me missing the simple empanadas I used to buy on the streets of Washington Heights in NY. Completely different style, I know, but I haven't found any empanadas here in Florida that hit the spot quite as satisfactorily as those Domincan ones used to. read more
