We stopped by on Friday late afternoon to pick up a couple of desserts pieces for home. This bakery is a part of Harry's Smoke & Dough restaurant. We ordered a dinner as Takeout and then came over to the bakery side to check out the dessert. We got the Flan for our dessert to share. The server was very sweet and helpful. I forgot to ask her name but she is in my photo. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable to enjoy a cafecito and dessert. Parking is in front of the restaurant with wheelchair accessiblability. Absolutely love coming here when we're in the area, and even when we are not! They are usually pretty busy but the wait is worth it. Their empanadas, their cookies are so delicious! I recently started visiting this spot again and I must say the food and service is great. Love all the different empanada's they have. However $4 for an average size empanada is very steep. Not to mentioned they charge you per sauce even when you are already buying $60+ of food from them. Not a fan of that. I was surprised to see no line, usually when I have tried to stop by the line to order has been ridiculously long that we ended up leaving. So we proceeded to look over the menu and order. Since I am a cheese lover I choose the cheese lover sandwich, and egg omelette with Gouda cheese and other cheeses that I don't recall, all you gave to tell me is Gouda and I am there. Lol. Delicious empanadas and wonderful cappuccino! Came to try their famous empanadas, especially the ones from Argentina and Chile and they didn't disappoint. Full of savory spices with egg and olives with a crunchy pastry exterior. Then I asked about the other options and they were so helpful, service was top-notch! I got a box of the Peruvian spicy before, chicken and cheese,Guava and Goat Cheese Empanada, Pan De Bono, and a ham croqueta. All of these were delicious except for the spinach and cheese empanada that was the only one I didn't particularly like. But their coffee was so delicious and everything else was great the decoration and the ambience of the place is really relaxed, good for families and friends to come in anytime during the day or night to enjoy the wonderful variety that they offer. OK, I am officially hooked, as a bakery goods lover I must tell you that if you come here your outlook on life will completely change(I know I sound like I am being a little dramatic but please hear me out). I decided to go on a mini adventure and seek out a great bakery that I have never been to , and this place just called out to me. Upon arriving the staff was extremely friendly, following every safety guideline you can think of from wearing gloves and a mask to having a pexy glass installed at the check out window to ensure a safe and super cleanly check out. My eyes immediately dropped, when I saw all the options, juicy and stuffed tequeños, pan de Bono, pastelitos, I was in heaven. I ended up ordering a pan de Bono(super fluffy and just the right amount of cheese where it was crunchy on the outside but dense in the inside), Cachito( this was a flavor missile jam packed with tiny bits of ham to the brim and cheese, with a very baked exterior), and a Chicken empanada (that was jam packed with shredded chicken with just the right amount of spice). So we ordered two large cafe con leches which were so so DELICIOUS. *Pan de Bono, Colombian sweet cheese bread, was very delicious and tasted fresh. *Cachito- ham and cheese roll. I have tried it at other places and it tasted just the same. Nothing special. Ok now on to the empanadas. *Mack and cheese empanadas- my son said he ate it because he was hungry but didn't really like it. *Ham&cheese empanadas- They were just ok. *Colombianas- shredded beef and potatoe, the empanadas did not taste fresh at all, taste wise was good but not fresh. Makes me believe that they were from the day before, as we were there at 10:00am. *Venezolana Cheese- is basically corn meal dough fried. I have to say I like salty cheese but this was way to salty I just took one bite and couldn't finish it. Bacon and Dates- I have to say I like the most it had a bit of sweet and the bacon gave it a great balance. I almost feel like THATS their true secret sauce ... their killer personalities. You can taste the hard work and dedication. This bakery has so many different flavors of empanadas including an EMPANADA OF THE MONTH. It's impossible to have only ONE favorite. Anything they put goat cheese or ricotta in I TRUST I'm going to devour plus when all else fails my go to whenever nothing new calls to me - THE PAVELLON with its fried dough that verges on the sweetness an elephant ear at the Fair has. Confess, my first visit and only the third and fourth empanadas I've ever tried. But both Argentina chicken and ham/cheese were absolutely delicious! This Argentina type has a light flaky baked crust. Chicken is tender and soft shredded and seasoned. Don't be afraid, nothing hot. Ham is with a creamy white cheese. These are a great size for a midday snack, or have 2 or 3 to really fill up. Also got a cafe con Leche and an American, also perfect. You can smell the fresh bread, empanadas and yumminess. Definitely gets the salivary glands going LOL. They have so many empanada options! The full spectrum of sweet and savory with variations from all over Latin America. They also have delicious coffee, hot sandwiches and wonderful pastries. It is amazing how one kitchen can pump out so many different options. Thank goodness the staff was super helpful with offering recommendations and popular favorites because I was overwhelmed with all the goodness that was staring at me. Harry offers an "empanada of the month" where he experiments with different flavors. The month I went it was the Paella Negra Empanada paired with a garlic aioli. So freaking good! We also tried the guava and goat cheese, pepperoni pizza, sweet bacon, cubano, dulce leche and banana and chipotle chicken empandas. All were full of flavor, fresh, crunchy and overall just heavenly. In addition, we tried the cachitos, pan de bono and tequenos! Yeah I know.....we went all out. We didn't stop there though. We soon went back another day and tried Harry's Cubano and choripan sandwiches, both were so tasty and mouthwatering. We also tried their new Reuben empanada, so gooood. I was skeptical that a place with a name like this was going to be any good. But I was wrong. True to the name, Harry's has all kinds of empanadas in many of the popular styles from Central and South America. I had the Argentinian style empanadas with chipotle chicken. As a group, we tried just about everything they had. For bonus points, they also have some decent desserts in the form of tres leches and cuatros leches (new to me).
