Great Italian option in Pittsford. I just LOVE this place! Excellent service and fantastic food! One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time! I had been wanting to check this place out for awhile and was finally able to go this past Wednesday. We had a reservation for 6:30 and arrived promptly at 6:30. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess was very friendly and immediately took us to our table. The restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday evening (must be a good sign!) Once we were seated, our server immediately came over, introduced herself and took our drink orders (I wish I remembered her name, because she was awesome!). She was very attentive and friendly. Even the busser was super attentive.. I was never out of water and our empty dishes were swiftly taken away. Once we got our drinks, we placed our food orders. We shared the spicy calamari and I had the chicken french with linguine and spinach. My friend had the chicken parmesan. I guess there was some confusion in the kitchen about my order, so one of the guys came out to clarify it with me, so that was very nice! The food was delicious (huge portions, but who doesn't love leftovers right?!). We were both very very full after this, so unfortunately we didn't have dessert, but next time I will for sure (it looked so good, they have a dessert tray!). Anyways, I was very very impressed with everything. Fantastic service and great food. My only issue was I didn't like the way my spinach was cooked, but that's just my opinion, so not a big deal. I highly recommend the lamb lollipops and the spicy calamari (with a side of added red sauce) for appetizers and either the chicken parm or seafood risotto for an entree. All were delicious. They also have a very solid wine selection, and the bread spread that comes with each table is amazing: house made garlic butter, house made spicy tomato oil, red pepper flakes, and a classic Italian bread loaf. Additionally, all the servers and hostesses were exceptionally friendly and had great recommendations. I'm always up for trying new restaurants. I came here to meet up with some ladies I haven't seen in 30 years. We shared two appetizers. The Cslamari and Burrata. Yes. Do it. Get them both! Calamari was really good-some of the best I've had. We each got something different for dinner. Among our dishes we had Chicken French, Filet Mignon, the seafood special which was swordfish and Seafood Canneloni. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal and we all ate all our meals, except the Seafood Canneloni because it was huge! Two of us got dessert, carrot cake and creme brûlée cheesecake which we were each made to take a bite by force. We were all very happy. Great atmosphere too. The doors were open to the outside. It was a beautiful night. And I'm sure I'm the winter sitting by the fireplace in the dining room is super cozy. The before dinner drinks were amazing as well! We ordered take out on a Friday night, they advertised curb side but that wasn't actually available. We ordered the meatball appetizer which was served with a garlic crostini. The crostini was delicious, the meatballs tasted like meatballs, nothing special but they weren't bad so a safe choice. My husbands short rib was delicious and he ate the whole thing. My salmon was okay, it was a huge piece so I couldn't eat all of it. It was suppose to have a pistachio gremolata, which I can see was there but didn't taste like pistachio at all. Honestly all I could taste was salmon which I obviously like but it was too much and the pistachio is why I ordered that over the pork tenderloin. I brought the family on Mother's Day. Food was fantastic! Service was also good. A little shady on how they charged for mimosa's. The server gave us a ticket for the first..suggesting that the first was included in the $59 per person price. Then billed us $12 each for them. I recently had the opportunity to visit Pane Vino on the Avenue when they were allowed to reopen. I felt very safe in the restaurant and we were seated in the open patio. Guests all wore their masks when not seated and the staff had masks and gloves on. Staff were all super attentive to our needs and safety. We ordered off the new menu and were able to taste some of the new items. I've enjoyed the food and experience at the River location so we wanted to try the Avenue since it's closer to home. The penne a La vodka was almost flavorless...I added salt and garlic powder but it still wasn't very good. The caeser salad was beautiful but again, flavorless. The dressing was all cream and no flavor at all...basically sliced mayonnaise. The Tirimisu wasn't bad but I don't know if it's made in-house. read more

A bit disappointing with my visit yesterday for my birthday. I had high hopes since I love a good Italian meal. Entering the restaurant around 6:15 pm, we were shocked at the smell of strong seafood just when entering the vestibule! I had to assume it was Calamari or fish, but overpowering for my dinner guests and a turn off for anyone that doesn't care for seafood. The Caesar Salad for good, but not outstanding - the dressing seemed very "clotted" cheese or dressing - not smooth and velvety. The Parmesan crisp was good and the anchovies were extremely salty. I had the Tiger Shrimp in Cajun Cream Sauce, which was good, but the lack of more than maybe 2 shrimp for $38 just seems like highway robbery. The Antichokes French over pasta looked decent, but not exceptional - lacking sauce and a good sear on the artichoke batter. The special of cheese tortellini in pesto with chicken and sun dried tomatoes looked good, but also lacked chicken and was more of a pasta dish. We went to Pane Vino for a celebratory dinner last night and were treated extremely well. Our server was fantastic(Melissa, I think) and the food was excellent. An unexpected five stars! I was blown away by the food here. I was fully expecting this place to be average, but my expectations were exceeded by miles. The calamari appetizer was incredible - tender and crispy. Best calamari I've had. The lobster bisque was to die for. For dinner, I had the tortellini special - tortellini with caramelized onions and sausage in a creamy roasted red pepper sauce. Everything was fresh and delicious. Large portion sizes. Went on a weeknight for a quick nightcap and appetizer. The band that was playing was in the corner of the restaurant, and they were fantastic! That was a nice surprise. I ordered a 'special' drink, that had some lavender in it, and it wasn't what I expected. I asked the bartender for a Chardonnay and she gladly exchanged the drinks for me. Hands down the best Chicken French in all of Rochester. Plus when we ordered from them in March of 2020 they gifted us a roll of toilet paper. I mean, I will frequent an establishment for good food but I become a loyal customer when they do something like that. Decent Italian-American place in Rochester. Had the monk fish. It had that lobster-esque flavor that was delicious with the bacon, capers, and pistachios it was served with. very disappointed. cocktails at the bar were great. we were seated promptly at 6:00. took 20 mins before we were acknowledge with water. finally our server came to table at 630 to tame our order. appetizer was good. however we had to ask for bread 2 times before it arrived at our table after the appetizer was served. dinner arrived and it was good. 30 mins before server checked on us. he did apologize for service and mentioned they had "call outs". however manager never came to the table. a glass wine or dessert should have been offered. this is a high end restaurant we expect more. use to be one of our favorites will not return. so many choices in rochester poor service should not be acceptable read more

We ordered takeout. The Veal Parmesan was very good - 4 stars for the veal itself, 2 for the pasta that comes with it, but the pasta vodka (which they feature as a specialty) was extremely underwhelming (1 star at best). Pasta in both dishes was not cooked properly al dente, which is basic for an Italian place (in my opinion). In the pasta vodka dish the sauce was dry and flavor was meh and it was way too expensive (no prices are listed on their website so the bill was a bit of a surprise when my husband picked it up!). The veal we felt was pricey but at least it was good! The veal seemed fresh and it was tender. It was properly cooked and the red sauce was good. It is a convenient location so we will likely try other dishes. I am not super hopeful, though. =/ I will update as we try other menu items. Really wish they'd also add prices to their website so you'd know what to expect. read more

So then I feel guilty because I'm picturing a very pregnant GM having to get up and walk out to the kitchen multiple times to answer my questions. So basically the point is this place gets it. You want a nice dinner and a nice experience and they give it to you. An excellent and friendly server. Great food. The veal chop was perfect even though you won't be able to get it. I had the pleasure of attending my soon to be niece-in-laws bridal shower here yesterday. From the moment we arrived we were being fed. Everything was delicious, served family style. I've never had Artichoke Frank before but it's my new favorite. Similar to what us Long Islanders call chicken franchise but with artichoke. Was excited to see a second location open closer to home. I had the beet salad and chicken anthony pasta dish. Beets were oddly crunchy but the flavor of the salad was great and a large portion. Pasta was great, a bit salty, but full of flavor. The new location definitely still has some of the flaws of a new restaurant. Even with a reservation we waited about 20 minutes at the bar which was extremely packed, luckily the bartender was attentive. I just wanted to say how impressed I was with their customer service. During the COVID-19 pandemic my fiancée and I ordered takeout from them, as many local restaurants had to switch to takeout/delivery due to social restrictions and health reasons. Upon picking up our order we were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary bottle of water and a roll of toilet paper. For most of us who follow social media we are well aware of the "hoarding" of toilet paper so this honestly was such a kind gesture. My family and I have been frequent customers of Pane Vino on Water Street for many years. In fact, it's our favorite restaurant in Rochester, and it serves THE BEST Chilean sea bass around. Curious as to how this new location would pan out, I visited a couple of nights ago with a dear friend. For those curious whether the quality would be compromised once expanding, it wasn't! This location is still high-quality, delightful food with great, attentive customer service - as expected. Because it is located at the old Pomodoro location, there is nearly 5 times more the amount of space than the Water Street location, now including private rooms/areas. This is definitely great for a tasteful event, such as a graduation after-party or birthday get-together. Be sure to book a reservation prior to arriving. They are super busy now that they're opened! read more

Three weeks before my son's rehearsal dinner, another restaurant on Monroe Ave cancelled the event because I asked them to fix peeling paint and clean the room we were using for the dinner. I called Pane Vino on the avenue and spoke to their Event Director, Rachel. Within two days, she had things under control and we had an outstanding rehearsal dinner!! The room was beautiful, immaculate and the food was above and beyond my expectations. Rachel and her staff were polite and attentive. All of our guests raved about the party! I recommend them without reservation!!! They know how to treat their customers! We will go back for dinners and I would use them again for a party.
