We chose this from several suggested by our daughter and son-in-law for our anniversary. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Our server was friendly. The escarole and beans was delicious albeit a little too much crushed red pepper for my taste. Our daughter's chicken Anthony was good... it had a garlic-wine sauce and had peas, roasted red peppers, prosciutto, artichokes and asiago cheese... over your choice of pasta. Hubby's penne with vodka sauce was good...topped with grilled chicken... he enjoyed. The other's all liked their meals except for my oldest daughter and I, who both ordered the gnocchi. The gnocchi themselves were good, but they're wasn't enough of them, and the sauce could have used more seasoning... but worst of all were the meatballs... they were a little rubbery. They are fried and loaded with raw garlic, which didn't get cooked down during the frying process.... either that or they sprinkled raw garlic over the top?! All I know is that I got a large chunk of something crunchy and quickly realized it was raw garlic... just NO! Why why why do restaurants think dousing a plate with raw garlic makes it more Italian? I don't get it! Even my daughter, who loves garlic was put off by it. The desserts look homemade but were so so. Not a bad garlic-wine but not on our list of places to frequent! read more

We typically come to Pane Vino on the Avenue for date nights twice or so a month. They're food is delicious and their service is always outstanding. I've love that they've been doing curb side and delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has truly brought some normalcy to my life during this entire ordeal. The family pack deals are a hit in our house and we can't get enough of the chicken French (or Ketel One dirty martinis). They even send you along with a roll of toilet paper. I went here for a corporate event. Everything was great! I loved the atmosphere and the food.

My husband and I wish this restaurant was back home, so we could go whenever we want! We visit Rochester area 1-2x a year for an annual event and we always like to try at least one new place when we go. This time our hotel was only about 10 minutes from this restaurant when we went searching yelp for a later in the evening dinner. We were looking for something a little romantic, with ambiance and drinks to end a great evening. So happy we choose this place. My husband called to see if there was last minute table available for us and the host ensured we'd be accommodated. When we arrived, we were seated in a more quiet side room next to the bar. It was still enough atmosphere even in the side room, and our server was excellent. He made us recommendations and gave us service with a smile. I had the blackened shrimp tortellini, and my husband had the rack of lamb. For drinks I just had a glass of sav blanc and my husband an old fashion. The wine was a generous pour and hubs said his old fashion was good. Our meal arrived in a decent amount of time, and the portions were huge. We were glad we didn't get a starter, given we ate a very late lunch. Hubs loved his lamb, and I had a bit of food envy. My dish was over sauced. It def resembled soup more than a sauced pasta dish that I had envisioned. I was able to fish out the shrimp, which were ample and cooked great. However, they weren't "blackened" and just probably cooked in the sauce. The sauce really had the blackened cajun flavoring, a mid heat to the sauce, it was a little weird tasting however it kept me going back for more. I would up eating mostly the shrimp and a few of the tortellini. My husband finished his and I took my left overs back to the hotel to give to my sister who commented the sauce was alil weird but she also kept eating it. So maybe not so weird after all. We took dessert to go, a cheesecake which went down just fine back in our hotel room. All in all it was a very good meal for our last night in town. I just wish the dish wasn't so weirdly saucy and the shrimp were actually blackened. I'm still not sure if I actually liked the sauce despite eating a decent amount. I can say though, that given the chance i would try something else on the menu next time. read more

I expected more from Pane Vino. My wife and I went here for Valentines Day. My wife ordered the filet which was just ok, for the price I expected much better. I had the chicken french which is served over a small portion of linguine and overall was a good chicken french for Rochester standards. I did find there to be a stronger sherry taste in the sauce then most times. Dinner is served with some bread that was very good, crunchy on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. You don't get a soup or salad with dinner which I found disappointing. We sat it a room off to the back which I felt the decor needed some updating. Overall we probably won't be back. For a steak Black and blue right across the street is a much better option, and the chicken french can be replicated at most other Italian restaurants in the Rochester area. read more

I'm so glad that they're still running such a beautiful business at such difficult time for the restaurant industry!The menu still has a great selection for everyones taste and desire.My husband and I are gluten sensitive and even though they do not specialize on gluten free menu they are willing to substitute for either extra veggies or other carb options which make our visit more enjoyable and harmless for our digestive system:) Their special dishes are always very creative and never disappointing with the presentations or taste! I would like to admire the new outside sitting patio. It's brand new with beautiful flowers and fountain landscape,but does not attract the bee's or other insects! Started poorly with Hostess who was not very friendly. Then had a too long of a wait for our server to take our drink order. After that though server was excellent as was the food. When I found out my grandson's induction into an Honor Society was at PaneVino's I was happy and could not wait. What a disappointment!! The surroundings were lovely, the servers were gracious except for the owner, Rene, who was downright rude to us when calling our table up to eat. Shame on her! The food was cold, dry and tasteless, nothing like the food from Water Street that I am used. It was a disgrace to the Allocco family. I sure hope the food is better in the restaurant proper, but I will never know since I will never go again. I can't afford to pay $15.00 for a glass of wine and be served such poor quality of food. Our choice for Pam's 70th birthday dinner.Recently opened.Running a "soft" opening meaning let's work the bugs out and let the staff get better..Very good idea!.We were seated immediately and opted for the quieter side dining room.It was a smart choice because soon after we were seated a rather loud lounge singer began his act in the main bar/ dining area.I would not have enjoyed my experience with that distraction going on.Our server was very nice.She needs some fine tuning to improve some small but important points to be give more professional service.We shared a delicious appetizer of greens and beans.Some of the best we have had.We split a Caesar salad which was very tasty.Not overpowering as some tend to be.Our entrees of Spaghetti Bolognese and Chicken French were ample and delicious.There we're many other choices I might have selected but kept it simple.We brought home enough for at least 2 more meals.Pam chose her favorite dessert of Creme Brulee which she ate like it was her job.I chose the lemon cake with raspberry marscapone filling.It also was very good.The desserts are pricey so be advised because coffee and desserts can add $30 to your check.I am pleased with this new addition to the Avenue.Was not a fan of Mario's. read more

Holiday work luncheon and they accommodated us by allowing us to be served after they usually stop serving lunch. Food was good. Appetizer portions are generous. Good assortment of desserts. We visited Pane Vino last Friday night. My friend and I had dinner and a drink. We ordered a Grey Goose,one up and one on the rocks. When we got the bill at the end we were charged each $4.00 extra and it was listed on the tab as ice charge. I called the owner Renee and she felt it was appropriate because they added extra vodka to the drink. She said where ever her husband went that was the practice. I have never heard of this and felt it was a poor business .Beware of their sneaky practice.$16.00 for that drink. read more

We had a party of 11 for an 80th birthday dinner. We were seated at 6:45pm (time of our reservation)- finally received our meals at 9pm - except one that arrived 20 minutes after that. The food was okay but nothing that we couldn't have gotten at many other restaurants in Rochester. The overall consensus was "meh". We won't be going back or suggesting Pane Vino to anyone - quite the opposite. read more

I have eaten at the Pane Vino on the Avenue twice. Both times were excellent from the service to the delicious entrees. I personally love their artichokes french. Wish the menu items were more unique but northing special or different from the hundred other Italian places in town. My friend suggested going here for dinner one night since she had been to the one on the Lake before. We went on a Wednesday night at 6:30, seated quickly and served quickly. There were a few other tables occupied. Very pretty inside, its much bigger than I thought inside. I got the Chicken parm which was very good, very filing and huge that I had a lot to bring home. My friend had the penne vodka and she also loved it and brought home the leftovers. I thought the prices were close to the same you would find at other establishments like this. Pane Vino on the Avenue On October 12, 2019 my brother and I celebrated our mother's 90th birthday with 40 friends and relatives at Pane Vino on the Avenue. We had reserved one of the three private party rooms which fit our party perfectly, not too big and not too small. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was both elegant and comfortable. There is a walkout patio which is also accessible to the private bar. Very nice. The banquet chef prepared a wonderful array of hors d'oeuvres and after that a unique and delicious buffet. Everyone commented on the quality of the food and the preparation. We included in our package an open bar which was expertly serviced. Although we had a buffet style dinner, we were provided two servers who looked after the guests. The thing that impressed me was that the servers were virtually invisible yet everything that needed to be done, magically and seamlessly was done. Marci Dorsaneo is the events manager and brought everything together. Marci was gracious, efficient and a joy to work with. All our questions and concerns were quickly addressed and Marci was very accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend Pane Vino for your next event or the restaurant for their lunch and dinner, you will not be disappointed. read more

I have to say this is now my favorite restaurant and has the best Chicken French in Rochester! The dessert selection was outstanding, homemade cannolis, cheesecake, pound cake and more. We had dinner tonight here with our kids, and were we pleasantly surprised!! Everything was amazzzzing!! Starting from the pleasant beautifully decorated entry, very festive for Christmas! Inside the atmosphere was so clean and cozy with more Christmas decor and a fireplace to add to the coziness!! We ordered calamari appetizers and fillet Mignon dinners with some lobster and chicken parmigiana with pasta!! Everything was cook correctly, tasted so fresh and appetizing! The service and food was good (albeit expensive), but the restaurant/bar is one big room with nothing to soak up sound, creating a constant din that made it impossible to talk to anyone not sitting right next to you (and even then only by shouting). This really interfered with the ambience, and I would not go back unless they do some major renovation to correct this. read more
