This review is more of a corporate issue than relating to the particular store and I addressed this matter to the Panera Bread Headquarters 3630 S Geyer Road #100, St. Louis, MO 63127, Attn: Customer Service Department Dear Sir or Madam: I must admit disappointment, not necessarily with one of your products, but rather with the veracity of your Customer Service Department. I have been a long time Panera Bread customer, regularly enjoying my daily Café Mocha, most often at the local store in Bayside, New York. Not that long ago, the manager of the Bay Terrace store advised the Panera Bread Corporate Office was cancelling the Café Mocha. Given this has been a staple of my daily routine, I immediately contacted the Panera Customer Service Department by phone. After over 45 minutes on hold, I finally spoke to a representative who assured me the Café Mocha was not being cancelled on a corporate level but most probably being cancelled by my particular store. I returned to speak with the manager of the Bay Terrace store who again assured me, it was not his store's decision, but rather a corporate decision. A short while later, I found myself in a different town area and visited another of your establishments in order to order a Café Mocha. Upon being served, the cashier advised with some dismay, "Enjoy it while you can, they're cancelling the Café Mocha". My complaint is two fold: 1. Why are you cancelling the Café Mocha, and would you please reverse this decision? I'm reasonably certain I'm not the only person who enjoys this particular beverage, and as a long-time customer, I would particularly appreciate being able to continue my daily brew. 2. Equally as important is my complaint about your customer service. In no realm should it take ¾ of an hour before speaking with a customer service. If that wasn't sufficient reason to compound my irritation, even more vexing was the fact the customer service representative responded with a bold face lie, attempting to turn the "blame" for the cancellation on the particular store and not the corporate office. Let's face it, if I wanted that type of customer dis-service, I would have gone to Starbucks. Please advise. The Panera Bread customer service send a boiler plate response saying sorry to see me go, not addressing their blatant disregard for the truth. Their rapid pick up service works really well. Always ready and accurate. Love the avocado, egg white, spinach breakfast sandwich. So many items are customizable which I don't think many people know about. Plus when you customize on the app you can see how the calorie count changes. Very big location with a fireplace inside so I'm looking forward to when we can eat inside again. A big shout out to Christine who works in the food prep area. She is sweet, works hard, and remembers what you like. read more

I know some people are obsessed with Panera, but I don't really see the hype. I work nearby, so I will sometimes come here for lunch and it's good, but it's expensive! I feel like I never spend less than like 15 bucks here and usually am still hungry after. The sandwiches at this location are usually sloppily put together, which is irritating. I enjoy their Mac and cheese the most. read more

The biggest problem is the seating. Customers hang out at the tables while they are using their computers. Many times I had to ask the people sitting at a booth "are you finished". The manager should being checking on the availability of the seating not the customers. The restaurant is home room for students. read more

Panera @ Bay Terrace is a great spot; however, the manager needs to be better about holding staff members accountable / training them properly. In the past 3 times I've been at Panera, I've had incredibly negative experience twice... a 33% success rate. The first time I went, the line to pick up your prepared food was overflowing. However, staff members did not seem to care and were working rather inefficiently. They were also very unapologetic when serving food 42 minutes after the order time. I felt bad for the manager who tried to get his staff members going and was dripping with sweat. They're also very unsanitary. Sandwiches that were done but had no place to go were just plopped into random areas of the kitchen work space... on the cutting board, on the stack of to-go boxes, on a pile of wax paper. An employee also started making a sandwich and left the workspace for more than 5 minutes, and when he came back I was pretty sure that he was wearing the same gloves. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and hoped that he didn't touch anything else before coming back / there were new gloves outside of the workspace that he was able to change into. The second bad experience I've had at Panera, it wasn't as busy. I got my order to go, only to realize when I got home, they forgot my soup! :( I've been going to this Panera for awhile now, but based on my most recent experiences, I'm not sure if I'll be going as often. Not sure what caused the dip in employee service / performance and overall management, but I hope things change for the better soon! read more

I've been having pretty bad experiences with Panera lately. Mainly with the food presentation and the staff. I don't usually eat-in, but when I do take-out, my food looks like it's been put together by a 5 year old. As for the staff, some of them are rude and need to be retrained. I was waiting in line to get my food when an older lady came back with her food and asked for another slice of ham because they had given her really little. The worker gave her an attitude throughout the entire interaction and then slapped a slice of ham down on her plate instead of asking for her plate and fixing the sandwich. After she left, he started talking trash about her to a co-worker. Just unbelievable. I, as a customer, do not want to see an employee being rude and then talking trash about other customers. read more

Very unhappy with the lady who works in the back. I come here with my kids once a week and this lady name Carol was very rude when I asked to refill my ice coffee- " she said we don't do that'"no refills which is actually not true. She also was yelling at me saying "what is that"? You have a receipt? I asked her to double check and she asked the manager and he said yes refills are available for ice coffee. She didn't even apologize and was giving me attitude and while this was happening one of her guy coworkers came and asked her a question and she had a huge smile to him - She is always rude- then another lady said she was sorry and she wasn't the one that was even helping me. read more

Food is just regular Panera quality so nothing too special about that. But the baguette, oh the baguette, is always soooo small! They are like trying to save money by giving tiny bread or something. This is possibly the worst Panera location I've ever been too. Unfortunately, it's also the closest location to me. First a little praise: I've used their catering service several times with great results and will continue to use them for catering. However, for regular take out sandwich orders, I'm hard pressed to remember the last time they got it all right. Virtually every order has had serious mistakes which I wouldn't discover until I'm back home and sitting down to eat. These problems include poorly or incorrectly made sandwiches, missing ingredients, wrong bread selection, or even missing an occasional sandwich I paid for. The only way around is to open up the bag and unwrap each sandwich before leaving the store. Not exactly an ideal situation, if only for the manhandling of other peoples sandwiches. Take my experience from last night: I ordered two sandwiches from their Signature line; the Napa Almond Chicken Salad and the Asiago Steak Sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich was a glob of chicken salad in the center of the bread with nothing on the outer halves; zilch, zip, nada -- just plain bread. The Asiago Steak was worse, one side of the sliced half had no meat whatsoever. Essentially, I paid for full sandwiches and got half-sandwiches plus some bread! Anyway, this last time was one time too many so I drove back to show these sandwiches to their manager. Nice guy (can't remember his name) who genuinely seemed surprised and offered a refund plus replacement sandwiches. He even gave some pastries to make up for my repeated experiences. He asked one of the more seasoned guys to prepare the replacement sandwiches and detailed the problem to a junior manager who was seemingly responsible for the food prep guys at that time. Thinking this was worth the trip not just for the freebies but for a better experience in the future, I headed home and sat down to eat... only to discover that my Asiago Steak Sandwich was made on white bread instead of the Asiago Demi for which the sandwich is named! Moral of the story: Panera Bread in Bay Terrace Shopping Center sucks! They can't get a sandwich right even after the manager's intervention. This is Queens folk! We can get a ginormous sandwich with better ingredients at a hundred+ delis for the same price or less. I'd think twice before going to Panera in Bay Terrace -- or be ready to inspect your order before you leave. read more

Baked Goods.. Yummmmmmm !!!.. If you could see me drool like Homer for anything baked then come on down to Panera Bread. Honestly I've never been to a bad Panera bread. The broccoli cheddar soup inside of a sourdough bread bowl is always a favorite of mine. I love there bagels. .There's a new flavor cherry vanilla. Woot.. I'm here for the lobster roll and ONLY the lobster roll. Even then, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the Panera gift card that was given to me. They have the audacity to serve hot ICED coffee! If you don't have cold brew or at least let it sit enough to cool to room temperature, DON'T SERVE IT. As far as their bread are concerned, forget about it. I'm not expecting it to be as good as Sullivan's, but their bread borders on Subways bread bad. I'm not a fan, at least not this location and the one by Mineola/Westbury. Wait time is horrible at this location. It took 20 minutes for them to make my latte. Not sure why but people who ordered (smoothies) after me got their drink order before I did. Also, the girl making my drink didn't know how to make it so my latte tasted like hot milk... no espresso taste whatsoever. read more

Probably the only healthy option where you can eat in Bay Terrace. If you've never had a salad at Panera then you need to try one. I was never a big salad eater but Panera showed me the healthier side. I adore the Asian Chicken Salad. It 's my favorite meal. The thai and strawberry poppyseed are runners up. Don't get the mexican one though, it was bad and made me mad I didn't just get a burrito. read more

The food is what you would expect from Panera. The service I think could be friendlier. I work down the block and have stopped in a few times and every time I go they seem flustered or stressed. I figured it must be busy so I have done the rapid order and supposedly they don't get the order wrong but they got my order wrong and basically were more concerned with just getting me out of there than apologizing for inconveniencing me. I was late for work which defeats the point of rapid service. I later looked at the site and it says I was supposed to get something for their error. I did not ... nor was I offered one. I'm limiting my trips to this Panera. The one on or near Peninsula Ave near Woodmere is so much better. read more

It is 11:30 on Sunday morning and I just moved into Bayside. Seeing that there is a Panera right near my house I got excited because I like there bagels. When I place my order the cashier says they are out of bagels. How can you run out of bagels at 11:30 in the morning. It's like going to a pizza place and they tell you they ran out of pizza. Love their soup but almost 1800 mg of sodium in French onion soup, not much less in other choices. Nothing nutritious about that. Salads are high too. Ingredients should be amended, Panera's soup is as high as Campbell's which is full of preservatives. Get with the program! read more

The caesar salad at Panera bread always helps me feel refreshed and rejuvenated. After a terrible food experience in Flushing, I was in Bay Terrace and decided to get a salad from Panera Bread to make myself feel better. The salad made me feel loads better. I can always count on Panera, whether on the East or West Coast, for its fresh-ness, for its excellent service, and for its delicious and varied food options. Yesterday I visited Panera in Bayside. I waited about 25 minutes for my food. The manager which was helping with orders was extremely rude and had the nerve to give me a sandwich that had been sitting on the ledge near their ovens for as long as I waited. She actually thought I didn't see her or wouldn't say anything. I asked her to please give me a fresh sandwich because that sandwich had been sitting there for a very long time. She didn't even apologize to me for the wait or the sandwich situation. That's awful. Is that what Panera does to people? Panera tends to be more or less the same food, pricing, and ambiance everywhere you go. Yet what makes this one a little better than the others is the "quiet room" in the back for those looking to table squat with their laptops, soups, and sandwiches. At nearly $10 a meal, it's a pricier squat than Mickey D's, so make sure you're in the mood for some crafty salad mixes or zesty sandwiches on faux artisanal bread. Their food as a whole isn't bad, but the portion sizes for that price def make you feel like you're in Manhattan. Still, it's a clean and yummy place to veg awhile without them kicking you out, so 4 stars isn't totally unwarranted. read more

Originally when this Panera Bread opened in Bay Terrace I was very excited because it was another option for affordable food. Every experience I've had here has been bad. Good luck trying to order your food because all the cashiers are too busy talking and NOT paying attention to your order. One of the following always seems to occur because of this 1) they dont include something i asked for on the bill and i have to go back 2) they charge me for something i didnt order. The food itself tastes satisfactory but I feel the portions are always smaller when taken to go so I recommend eating there. 3.5 but leaning more towards 4. :) This location get's really crowded. The food itself is pretty good, all my friends love their soup (Chili was thick & decent, the something cream soup was yummy) and the sandwiches are decent. I like their bear claw too. Nothing blows my socks off though, besides the Hazelnut Cream Cheese spread. I like how the size of the place, but I wish they'd put more outlets around. There's always someone at the (4-5?)outlets locations. :/ And you can only use the WiFi for about an hour. read more

I keep forgetting I need to avoid this location. The staff is friendly, but they've gotten my order wrong the last few times I visited. They are poor at communicating with each other when they run out of ingredients or a type of bread. And they are poor at notifying the customers. Today, I went to get the bbq chicken flatbread, but I got it on whole wheat toast. The sandwich was just soggy. They put in the wrong dressing for the salad. They made my sister's sandwich wrong. I was here yesterday for a late lunch. Plenty of delicious choices. Fast friendly service. Only problem with this place is the seating. No seats really left for people who really want to eat something. 90% booths were taken by laptop freaks with their feet up and ONE DRINK for 3 people. Was there for an hour and a half looking for seating and eating and they never vacated their seats. All in all best choice in healthy fast food. read more

Way to expensive. Got a 1/2 a turkey sandwich , more like a 1/4 and cup of soup $10 . Sandwich had one slice of turkey and soup was eghh. Add another $2 for a drink . I can think of a lot better places to spend $12 for a single meal. Won't be back anytime soon read more

I have never cared for the food at Panera & only went back because I had a gift card. Nothing has changed. My friend had the potato soup, which was okay but rather salty, and a turkey sandwich. I had a smoked turkey Panini which I renamed a "Salt Sandwich". It was so salty that I ate less than half and it had very little turkey considering it cost about $7. While not as upscale as Panera, Subway has better sandwiches plus as many vegetables as you want. There was a balance of $2.40 on the gift card and I decided to get a cinnamon roll. However, I was told by the cashier there was no balance on the card. I paid for the roll and went back to my table. My friend asked for the manager, showed him the two receipts and told him what had happened. He decided we were due a refund of 70 cents, the difference between the cost of the roll and the $2.40 that was supposed to be on the card. He had to be convinced that he actually owed us $2.40 for the balance on the card. Managers should know their math! All in all, not a good experience. read more
