This is a classic New York diner that I have been wanting to try for a long time. We went here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We all ordered burgers except for one person ordered a tuna sandwich, the burgers were all delicious, we paid 6.95 extra to make them deluxe. The burgers were close to $25 each with the add ons, they were juicy and good. I had an ice coffee that was not great but ok. The service was fast and courteous. Neighborhood diner that has been here for years, most recently I've been coming with my mother and daughter on Sundays and it's packed. 15-20 min wait before being seated but the food has always been good. If you get a burger it does take a long time but it is worth it. Kids should definitely stick to the kids menu it comes with a drink and ice cream. read more

Came here for breakfast with a companion at her request. The restaurant is hug and it's look as it is, a big cafeteria style set up. My friend treated me to breakfast. It's good to be treated once in a while so we ordered the silver dollar pancake and we split then because I didn't want a full set for myself. This way we can minimize the budget. We went casual, very relaxed not worrying about what each other were wearing, just enjoying the time spent and the morning out. The food was pretty good and I was not stuffed because we shared. I had egg whites, turkey sausage and of course the silver dollar pancake. Does everyone drown their pancakes in syrup? My friend did. I've been coming here for a long, long time. When my late partner lived in the neighborhood, we would come here all the time to grab a bite. I was back in the neighborhood helping finish up her affairs, so I decided to stop in again for old times sake. The place is clean and bright, and everybody is very friendly. They have a huge diner menu, but we always got one thing, and one thing only. The challah bread, French toast. That's what I ordered again today. It is good as it has always been. Three huge pieces of French toast. Crunchy on the outside, and creamy on the inside. The custard is delicious, and it's cooked to perfection. I had it with a couple of eggs, and they were cooked perfectly over easy. This has easily been the best French toast I have ever had, and the next time I'm back in the neighborhood, I will stop again. The prices are very reasonable. Huge portions! I mean really big! My first time at the BBD! Loved it! My buddy Bubba and his wife Rita are regulars here. They were slammed with people waiting but the very cool host and staff took care of everyone and had our party of 3 seated in 2 minutes. Our waitress was outstanding- sharp, quick and attentive. The coffee cups were refilled frequently as was the hot water for the tea. She brought out a bunch of napkins and a big serving dish with balsalmic dressing to go with the gargantuan side salad( photo). The eggs were hot. Everything tasted good. The coffee was good as well. My salad was fresh and crispy. The menu was pretty extensive with a special brunch menu accompanying the breakfast selections. Our new friends from Chicago who were sitting next to us also were pleasantly surprised with the sheer quantity when they got their orders. The burgers looked great and appetizing as did the bacon. The diner was packed and the staff adjusted very well to ensure a smooth flow of folks in and out of the dining areas. Definitely 5 stars for a fun and satisfying NY diner experience. This place is always busy, because it's right on the exit of an expressway. All our local diners are closing up, but this one remains because of its location. The food is good... However, they are one of the most expensive diners I have ever eaten in. I do not believe that a breakfast for two people should cost up to $100. I think that is outrageous. I believe when my husband and I last ate breakfast there the bill came to about $75 which to me for a diner breakfast is insane. Lunch for three people was over $120. Sorry blue bay. I haven't been to Blue Bay Diner since my highschool days, that is, until this past Saturday. I placed an order to pick up some matzah ball soup, a chicken caesar salad and a BLT with fries. As soon as I walked in, it was a total blast from the past. I could have sworn I recognize some of the staff from 15 years ago. When I got home, we had a feast. The chicken caesar salad was a huge portion and the matzah ball soups were quite tasty.Next time I will order a large soup as I would have liked a bit more broth. The sweet potato fries that came with my BLT didn't travel so well, so I might not order them again for takeout. The parking is a breeze, since the lot is huge and the handicap ramp entrance on the side is a plus. Overall, a classic staple that has been serving the community for decades. It's a beautiful Saturday morning and I unfortunately had to get my car checked for an issue it is having. Lucky for me, the Blue Bay Diner was across the street from the auto shop (Barney's). Like many old-school diners, this place was open early (I walked in at about 7:30 am). They looked like they were pretty up and running and seated me right away. Not too long after someone came over to take my drink order, and the coffee and cranberry juice I got came right away. I decided to go big because I plan to be doing a lot of driving today and went with the French toast deluxe. The food came out right away! The portion sizes were very generous for the French toast, and everything else that came with it was pretty good. Great food, background music, service, and location. I do not believe this place is 3-star level. It is way more than that. First off, we have seen and been through diners of all sorts across the country. There are only a few that can really hold up. Second, Many diners offer a 10-page menu with probably only breakfast items being the freshest of ingredients and everything else is probably frozen. It is not sustainable for any diner to have 18000 offerings of all sorts and to be able to offer steak, tilapia, gyro etc to be obfrom an immediate source. Blue Bay is probably one of the very few establishments coined as a diner to be able to source fresh or pretty close to it, ingredients. Not to say they own cows in their backyards; but clearly from their high-volume turnovers, their grocery stock are replenished faster than most dinwe have experienced. That also explains why many patrons from the area keep coming back. Weekends are over an hour wait sometimes especially for brunch. Many wait staff are VERY friendly and I always request for Sabina (oh please do ask for her!!) In summary, I respect this place for persevering through the pandemic and overall bad economy. I cut my toast and took a bit and then I saw grey hair on my toast. SMH... I asked to speak with the manager a told him that I wouldn't be eating the other food not comfortable and he said you still have to pay for your tea and my sister has to pay for her bloody mary half-drunk for both. The hot chocolate was really good. Outside of my company, that was the best part of the entire visit. The rest of the food was ok. Basic diner food flavor. The staff was all polite. My main issue and reason for the poor rating was asking for a minor request that was denied by the manager because they were more concerned about how it would "look" to other patrons. The ask was for plastic utensils for 1 person at a table of 2. The esthetic of 1 person using plastic utensils in a space where there was maybe 50 other people paying absolutely no attention to the 1 was a concern but not the scratched up water cups that were provided making it more than obvious they had been in use for quite some time. Neither the diner nor its decor is by any means new. So the big concern with how 1 person using plastic utensils would look is laughable. A person should not have to disclose personal medical information to a random person for such a request. And yes, it was only after it was clarified for the manager that the need was due to a medical condition that they agreed. Honestly, I don't care what reason anyone gives for the request warranted that response. Someone may just not want to eat with utensils that thousands and thousands of others have used. We are expected to just trust that the sanitization process is sufficient or even done properly. I'm not saying don't go here. Decide for yourself. This was simply my experience. read more

I had a craving for a burger, and my friends took me to this diner because they were happy with the burger. When I walked in, the staff was pleasant, but the people dining there were weird. The vibe was mixed, but I was so hungry to the point where I was going to pass out. I was pretty impressed with the food, and the portions were huge.
