I've been repeatedly disappointed with this location, but begrudgingly look to Panera when I just can't take the greasier alternatives. Since I've started using online ordering though, my experiences have been slightly less aggravating. (I realized I can't even remember the last time I dined in at this or any other location.) Be warned that this parking lot is tight and there is inevitably someone else pulling out who thinks basic traffic rules don't apply to them. The restaurant is clean, dimly lit, looks like the rest of the chain. I've only had one experience where they were out of anything and the selection of bakery items is always well stocked. Overall, I think the portions are small for the price and the quality of the food isn't worth the hype. The exception to this would be the bakery as the crustier(?) breads are consistently good at any location. I usually opt for soup, mac n' cheese, or salad. Rapid pick-up is the way to go and I like the new queue screen in case there's a little bit of a wait. read more

We had a bagel pack delivered and ordered an additional cream cheese to the order. We did not get the additional cream cheese. Called the store to have them bring it & they would not (for liability reasons) but said they could refund my $$ (I am watching my card for the credit. ), I could go there & pick it up, or place another order for the cream cheese. If I had wanted to go to there store & pick it up, I would have done so in the first place! I am at work so could not do so. After arguing with the manager, I opted for the return. I have ordered and enjoyed the chicken avocado melt sandwich at Panera Bread for many, many years but the last 2 times ( in past month) I have ordered it, there was hardly any chicken on the sandwich!! I mean like "where's the chicken?'. Seriously!! I was already at home eating it when I noticed. The first time I thought maybe it was just a weird coincidence but the 2nd time????? Ok I do like this place. But I just got an order and the soda had NOTHING to prevent tampering. There is no way to know someone didn't put something either malicious accidental into the drink. I this day and age we should leaned at least company logo tape over the top securing the lid to the soda should be a minimum. Other restaurants go even further and have the soda in this in Carrie and bag stapled at the top closed. If McDonald's can do it... Every time I order from here they're out of a key ingredient for my order , it seems strange because there is a grocery store nearby. Quite often it's something like the salad dressing, I just think that would be totally irresponsible on the management's behalf. Something like baked goods I could understand but red onion , really ? The food was spot on! The service was fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean and staff were helpful. The coffee was the BOMB!!

One day we were all famished and looking for a good place to eat while still being reasonably healthy, and Panera was the obvious choice. The lady that took our order was very nice and had a pleasant smile, and when we sat down at our table it was very clean. We had a bit of a long wait, but still not too long. Once we got our food we all dug in, and it was so delicious and we were all very happy with our orders. I would definitely recommend this place, 10/10 every time. read more

I went to Panera Bread on Council Street in Cedar Rapids and was disappointed on the way I was treated by staff. The lady asking to take my order, gave me a dirty look and didn't seem to want to answer me when I was asking questions about their menu. I was also disappointed about the quality and taste of my food. My chicken noodle soup was cold, my side salad was drenched with dressing (when I had asked for my dressing on the side) and my apple was bruised. Also, the inside of the store was dirty (there were napkins and food particles on the floor and most of the tables appeared dirty). Very disappointing!! I've been coming here Monday - Friday for over a month for the Unlimited coffee subscription. Today i ordered a special treat for a patient a cinnamon roll and a blood orange lemonade and my coffee subscription. I ordered ahead so i could pick it up by 8:20 and have it delivered to my car. You push a notification that i'm here i did it twice because it was 8:30 by the time i pushed again. 8:35 i left my car on and locked in in the curbside and went in for a fear of being late to work. It was sitting on the shelf and no notification that they missed me . I feel like anyone could come and grab your food from that shelf now. I was sad i tipped because i was having it delivered to my car and ran 18 mins late to work. I will not do curbside again. read more

For 2:00 on a Friday afternoon the place was pretty busy. I ordered a avocado BLT sandwich meal with chips and a drink. $13! For a cold sandwich. This is why I don't visit Panera often except for bagels. My food came up in descent time. My sandwich was meh. The turkey was delicious. The avocado fresh. But it lacked flavor. The bred was fresh but they make it with a bread that had a very chewy (not crusty) edge. It makes it hard to bite through. You almost have to gnaw on it to get the first bite. The bacon on the sandwich was chewy not crispy. As if they just pulled it out of the microwaveable package (but not microwaved) and stuck it on my sandwich. Made it chewy and not great. My pickle spear that came with the meal was limp, skinny and dead. For having such top quality ingredients I would expect a nice crisp pickle spear. The cashiers were not overly friendly. Minimal staff interaction. I should have done self check out and spared myself the awkward stares. read more

Food was as good as any other Panera I've been to. We use quick order kiosk. Food was up fast, especially since the place was so busy. We did have to wait for a table. I do wish they could add some more tables, but there isn't the room for them. We've eaten here a few times now and it's always this busy. Use your patience when ordering and bring it with you to the store, along with some extra! Don't remember an order when they HAVEN'T run out of items when placing it online. You call multiple times and no one answers. You go to pick up and usually only one person at the register taking another 5-10min to get an answer on constant shortages of food, products and people. Do not like the new changes ! It feels like I am eating at an airport food court. I don't think anyone said more than two words to me from ordering to pick up. Did the portion size get reduced too? The food was tasty, as always, but the sandwich size was super small. The bigger bowl of soup was small....and my bag of potato chips seemed like a sample size that is passed out to school children going on field trip. I will not go back due to the tiny portion sizes for the high prices paid... no one should still be hungry after spending so much money. For the past two years, I have eaten at Panera for at least once a day. They've given me my food over an hour late on multiple occasions and I tell them I don't want eggs that are an hour old and cold. I don't like my coffee to be cold either, after a pretty snooty read response from the manager. I let him now I spend more money here than you probably realize because I'm here every day. They did not care and I told them I will no longer be using this establishment. For the record, I love Panera (Bread Co)....but this Cedar Rapids location needs a bit of attention. We went in later than we would normally have dinner...maybe 7ish. There were no pastries left at all...not sure if all had been consumed or donated but the shelves were bare. Ordered dinner and found my broccoli soup was cold, sandwich prepared on wrong bread. When they remade the sandwich they forgot the cheese. Went back today and ordered soup and salad. Soup was again, not as hot as I would have liked. Salad with "light" dressing had almost none. I use to love Panera, however, I feel that now with them adding the delivery service and "order ahead" services the service has become extremely slow and inefficient! The other day I ordered a simple frozen lemonade to go at around 1045am and it took 15-20 minutes for me to receive my drink. When I received it half the ice was already melted and thus making it more of a lemonade. I have Celiacs and so am allergic to bread. Why am I eating at Panera Bread? I am visiting family and am without a vehicle and I needed someplace to sit at 7:30 AM, so here I am. I went up there expecting to order the fruit cup and be done with it, but I explained to the lovely cashier that I am allergic to bread, do they make the egg and bacon separately? She told me they indeed did, and proceeded to go back to the food prep area and talk to the people. She came back and told me she'd asked the people to change their gloves when they came to my order. So thanks to this wonderful woman, I was able to eat some protein and not get sick. I am incredibly thankful for the genuine kindness and service the woman went to, it was busy and she didn't have to do that. I really do appreciate it. I used to not enjoy Panera, but my family has made it a habit of eating here most Sunday mornings after Church. Therefore I am speaking to there Breakfast mainly. I have tried a handful of items from Sausage Egg and Cheese on a bagel, to a triple berry scone, to a egg soufflé. All have been good in each there own special little way. There is something to be said about consistency here, and I am liking it thus far. Now for the real fun part. We have tried to the take out service, and it is pretty cool. My wife will place an order and 15 minutes later I am walking in and picking it up off the shelf. No lines, no paying, no waiting. In and out with a premium parking space I even get to use. There are always a fair amount of people at this location, especially during lunch time so going into this experience I expected there to be a large crowd; what I didn't expect was the front of the house to completely stop taking orders in the middle of the lunch shift. It was off line so I didn't receive credit for my purchase. They didn't have any lemons out for the iced tea, so I asked. The young man looked at me like i had two heads. I didn't realize that Panera had delivery until I heard about it from a friend. I was starting to get a cold last week and didn't feel like leaving work to get lunch. I went to the website and ordered online. I got the You Pick 2 with a cup of broccoli cheddar soup and a half of the Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich. It says to allow about 50 minutes for delivery I think. This seems reasonable with the soup and how busy Panera is. I didn't mind the wait, but make sure you know that so you can plan ahead if you want delivery. My food came on time and was hot! The soup really hit the spot and I'm not sure what the sauce is on the Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich but it was really good! I wouldn't order every week because it is a bit pricey, but for a once in awhile treat - it's worth it! read more

Worst. Panera. Ever. For the record, Panera is one of my favorite chains in LA. But just like everything in this part of the country, they take something good, franchise it off to some local redneck, and bastardize the food and service. The breakfast crowd at Panera is ususally a mix of young adults, couples, professionals, and families. Here it was overflowing with seniors, like an Indian Casino all you can eat buffet. Table after table of four or six 80 year old's with a steaming cup of coffee and no food, playing cards or whatever people do here. Cashier had no idea what she was doing, the girl helping her barely knew the system. Kept shouting blunt questions at me. Nobody listens to you, you have to repeat yourself 5 times for everything you say - even your name FFS. When your order comes up there's no "Pick Up Here" sign so you hear your name shouted angrily on the loudspeaker but you have no idea where to go. Food. Finally got my Bacon/Egg/Cheese breakfast sandwich - by far my favorite item from Panera in Los Angeles - and typically something you can always count on for consistent quality. Cold. Cold egg, cold bacon, cold cheese, cold bread. LAME! The chick who cooked it was like 300 lbs and couldn't care less about what she was doing. My husband and I stopped at my favorite place to eat and were EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the cashier and the people serving our food and the overall atmosphere of customer service in general. First and foremost the overall attitude of the cashier was inappropriate and less than enthusiastic (which is typically the first person to greet you). It's like we couldn't order fast enough for her so she could move on with her disgruntled afternoon. While ordering you could tell she was beyond annoyed; especially if you asked a simple question or requested our food with or without a specific item. We were pretty shocked at the prices but we understand that's more a cooperate problem. We took our drink cups and moved along. The drink station was filthy and sticky everywhere. Then while still ignoring those two bad experiences I was unable to find a clean table. I ended up having to wipe a table down myself (which is completely inappropriate in a restaurant setting environment). After we sat down and spent $35 I almost wanted to walk out I was so displeased, but we waited for our food anyways. Walked up to the counter to get our food where no one spoke a word and said "enjoy your meal" or "thank you". Once back to our table my husband realized his order was incorrect. He's not the one to return an incorrect order but we paid $35 so he requested a new sandwich be made. The employee behind the counter seemed annoyed at his request. In addition to the sandwich being incorrect he ordered a bowl of soup which cost $4.11 more than my cup of soup and he could've poured his soup into my cup and it would've been the same amount. I have ate at many Panera's in my life but this particular one I wouldn't recommend to anyone nor will we ever be going back. This is Iowa NICE not New York or California were supposed to be better than this. Kindness and good attitudes are a choice we are given. I highly recommend you teach your employees some manners, but most importantly customer service. The words "thank you" "yes ma'am" "yes sir" do go a long way in our broken society.
