I placed an order online for two breakfast sandwiches. They were not the same sandwich. It was at the beginning of the morning on Saturday with an hour pickup time. It was delayed being made and caused us to get on the road late. Opened up the bag and the sandwiches weren't what I ordered. How difficult is it to make 2 breakfast sandwiches and get the order correct ? I visit family in Decatur for holidays. I won't come here again. I don't believe so much money people spend at this Panera restaurants I'm here in Decatur IL next to Walmart and decided to have breakfast at Panera obviously the place is empty and the workers talking about last night it's ok we humans - then I ordered a bagel sandwich with avocado and and eggs and it's nasty the avocado was not green it was dar, honestly I think the CEO needs to pay more attention to quality of food serving to customers I rather go to IHOP for the money I spend $11 and some change and this is what I get?? Love the food but it NEVER fails, if I pick up an order and there are five of us, they ALWAYS leave something out. I didn't have time to check the order before I left and they left my three year olds pizza out of my order. So living about 15-20 minutes away I didn't want to run all the way back up there. They usually try to short me on chips or bread (meaning leave it out all together). So needless to say my three year old was upset! read more

I go here often and appreciate that it is usually clean and well organized. Food is delicious and service is great. But there are some people that shouldn't work the register. Management please take note. Follow up: I stopped by for a breakfast wrap the next morning and mentioned how long I had waited in line the night before. They apologized, said due to people off sick they had to put a newbie on register for a bit. Then they comped my breakfast! Really my favorite Panera! I love Panera but this location has issues every time I have come to sit down and eat no problems. Both times I have gotten food to go not been happy at all. The first time not a huge deal but no cheese or pecans on my salad. Second time, even worse my salad was missing almost everything and the size portion was so much smaller than it was supposed to be. The lady behind the counter was not very knowledgeable about what they have. I don't usually order their coffee drinks but I was going to today. I asked her what the Madagascar vanilla latte was and she wasn't sure. I asked if they had a hot chocolate coffee similar to Starbucks cafe mocha and her answer was confusing so I was going to choose water. Asked for the cinnamon crunch bagel with the hazelnut cream cheese. They don't sell hazelnut cream cheese anymore. I just opted not to order anything. read more

My first visit to this location, passing though. I stopped for an iced tea and decided to get a crunch bagel for the ride. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly. I paid and got my order, went back to get my tea and wanted to make sure I had cream cheese in my bag. Nope. No cream cheese or spread as Panera calls it. Asked for cream cheese and that's exactly what I got. I have always receive spread from Panera, so I'm not sure if this location was out of spread or just gave me cream cheese because that is what I asked for. Very disappointing as the spread is the best on my favorite bagel. So needless to say as I was about 12 miles down the road already I was disappointed in my find inside that bag. read more

Stopped in for food and waited in line behind one person. After he ordered, the cashier left the station and I stood waiting. About six minutes went by and no-one spoke with me about the wait. When an employee walked by, I asked if I could put an order in soon. This obviously pissed her off because the response was a bitter expanation of why no-one was able to help me. One employee called off, one on break and another was making coffee so I would have to wait until someone was available. Simply letting me know that it would be a bit would have sufficed. I have visited several Panera Bread Restaurants over the years. This location is the cleanest, friendliest and most efficiently managed. The staff is efficient and helpful. The management has their act together and that reflects in the staff! Too bad the same training could not be taught in California. Keep up the mega five stars Decatur Panera! I get the you pick two (asiago steak), but every time I go, I wonder why because you get a cup of bland soup and a smaller than half of a sandwich size portion for $12. An elite yelp friend once told me that it's OK to review a general franchise store (her example was Starbucks) if that specific location has special meaning to you. And this is exactly what this Panera store does for me. During my month long business trip to Decatur, I spent many hours dining and working (when the factory that I was visiting had planned power outage). This is the place that I came when I needed a good fix of delicious salads and soup combo. One of the few places in Decatur that you can get good clean food that's not sopping wet with grease. Panera has wholesome food. Nice calm, tastefully styled atmosphere...except when it's FOOD RUSH time (I.e., Sunday, after church, lunch time) and the place turns into a mad house. For the love of God, please upgrade your dishwasher. Three out of the last four times I have been to this Panera I have had to request new silverware because it's real dirty- bits of food, sticky, etc. The staff is always real sweet about it and I love Panera so I have been going back. But it's super off-putting. Other than that, good food and fast service. Even with a line, they get through customers quickly. Management and staff are great. They took out three registers and now everybody has to order at the bakery. The line is always out the door and you have to wait in line for 10 minutes just to order. Last time I went the manager was screaming at everybody and telling people that they should go get drinks at the gas station because it's much cheaper. Went to support my local Panera today to find the opposite of a Covid-19 friendly environment. The manager or owner with dark hair and a short haircut came up to me to social distance me and placed me directly in the middle of the entrance/exit. There is only one way in and out. These geniuses purchased cashless terminals to implement social distancing that were stationary with monitors (POS) terminals distanced only 1.5 feet apart. So, every other POS was closed and 2 kiosks were able to be used since the design makes zero sense. Without an employee helping direct or guide customers with menu questions and tech support on the fly a confusing atmosphere entrenched the lobby of Panera. Rather than focusing on why the manager had a line nearly out the door he confronted me who only moved out of the way of the only door, off the "sticker on the floor" showing me where to stand, to avoid endangering my own health. I was fully masked and compliant despite the lack of signs or notifications on how they wanted to help the customer experience remain in tact. This employee nearly forced me physically towards the door to stand on the corporate sticker that design wise makes the least amount of sense in an effort to protect community members. The lines for the kiosk could of been directed in a different way and rather than listen to my opinion about my own personal health and wellness concerns he flashed an, "okay" hand symbol near my face disregarding my concerns and ensuring that I was in the most dangerous spot for me to stand while waiting to order food. I understand differences in service due to a pandemic. I do not however want to stand for disrespect delivered towards me and the unprofessionalism displayed by this seemingly higher ranking and veteran employee who represents the Panera Bread Company. I'm from St. Louis and supported this franchise since it was a small corner coffee shop downtown. I will not however be visiting this location again. read more

Panera is my fave restaurant! I love everything about them (okay, maybe the prices could be a little lower), but other than the prices, I LOVE IT! Their bread is amazing, their service is fast and friendly. I recommend the bread bowl with the cheese and broccoli soup! YUM! Panera is exactly what Decatur needs more of. Wholesome , clean food. I enjoy every meal i have from Panera every time i go, although it can get crowded at times it is worth the wait. The only downfall is the lay out of the registers the waiting line is dysfunctional because it can crown the exit. I love the feature of ordering online and picking up in store. I have used their Rapid Pick up twice in the last couple of weeks. Each time the order was not correct. Of course you are suppose to contact the manager, but when you pick up your order on the run, who has time to go back and complain. Each time the order was not correct. I asked for no tomatoes and no onions. Each time both were included. The last time there was no pickle with my order. I think they'd better get their act together or loose a lot of Rapid Pick up orders. read more
