I hold excruciatingly high standards, as a physicist, and understand fully well the statistical expectation from varying systems, including physical therapy which I needed for a torn rotator cuff. In what should have been a routine experience manifested into an abruptly painful and stressful mishap from your common place PT (typically recommended from a surgeon or hospital) which opened my awareness of our healthcare system, up until Panetta Physical Therapy saved not only my shoulder, but my well being and future functionality. You see, most if not all healthcare facilities function on a business level as much as a provider of healthcare. After my rotator cuff repair by one of the best orthopods on Long Island which I found and shortlisted from forty eight top surgeons, I didn't research PT facilities and instead let my hospital staff recommend their PT which is standard operating procedure. Most hospitals will push their PT which is a business arm of the hospital (e.g. prohealthcare or north shore s.t.ar.s.) which is a cookie cutter model and is satisfactory for general requirements. But where a cookie cutter assembly line model lacks is where Panetta PT is brilliant in depth and scope of quality, perseverance and skill set beyond standard textbook protocols, in the 99th percentile. I was about 8 weeks post op and I was progressing beyond my PT's expectations. So much so my PT took a chance and performed active resistance about three weeks prior to and without my surgeon's script. For whatever reason, my unscripted PT session resulted in the most painful experience I ever experienced. Naturally, my PT and entire staff was extremely worried and I was iced downed and hoped for the best. My pain never abated after one week of sleepless nights and my body couldn't tolerate pain killers to compensate for the intense pain. My surgeon immediately issued an MRI and was worried my pins may possibly have loosened, or worse. Luckily the MRI revealed it was extreme tendinitis from an "overworked shoulder" and structurally my tendons were healing perfectly and pins were unaffected. My surgeon scripted no shoulder use for two weeks along with ice and anti inflammatory (Ecotrin) I could tolerate. My surgeon examined my shoulder two weeks later and issued a script for PT. Needless to say, I intensely research for the best Physical Therapy and after I interviewed the shortlist of PTs, I elected Panetta Physical Therapy in Roslyn, NY. They not only invested more exhaustive study of my particular case, but also spent almost twice as much time with hands on manipulation which I never had with the standard cookie cutter PT. My therapist works with me by my side instead of leaving me alone with other less experienced personnel. In addition Panetta PT is seriously committed to your rehabilitation by not sharing my time divided among other patients! From my first session I have recuperated with more strength and range than I have ever experienced from my prior PT's progress (and is unfortunately the standard). I can not recommend enough what Panetta Physical Therapy has done for my shoulder, my well being and my future. They literally saved my quality of life and then some. Oddly enough, my mother had her hip replaced and she too underwent PT but at s.t.a.r.s. which after one month developed intense pain. Her HSS surgeon issued a script for a bursa injection which gave her very limited relief. After my success with Panetta PT I urged her to try them for a free consult. After one session (she's on her third now) she is almost pain free, fully active and very happy. There's nothing like her smile of being virtually pain free. In summary, if you're looking for a PT, please keep my review in mind and make the leap you owe yourself, your life and those of your loved ones by keeping Panetta on your list of the top care for your rehabilitation. read more

I work as a personal trainer to an elite client list in Manhattan, so you can imagine I was pretty drastically knocked out of orbit when I completely tore the tendon in my left bicep at the end of July this year. Distal bicep tendon rupture. My bicep rolled up into my arm like a window shade. Not only was I suddenly half the man I'd been a moment earlier, but my world and everything that went with it... new wife, new car, new home... was suddenly in very real and very serious jeopardy, you see, if I don't work I don't get paid. (I mean, the new wife would've PROBABLY stuck around if I went belly up HAHA just kidding babe, in case you're reading this) It's scary, the thought of everything suddenly collapsing around you in an instant. I received surgery a week later and the surgeon told me I could expect to be back in action in 6-8 months! I could expect a full YEAR until I got back full mobility and strength in my left arm! A YEAR!!! He also told me I didn't really need therapy, I could get by on just some simple stretching techniques he showed me and that I should keep my arm in the sling they gave me for 5 weeks until they brought me back in for a check up. Boy, am I glad I got a second opinion! I searched pretty thoroughly on the internet and, as a fellow health and wellness professional, was very impressed with Panetta on many levels. When I went in for the consult and met with DPT Phil Caruso I was sold. I was impressed not only by his expansive knowledge, but also by his HONESTY... He told me he was dedicated to bringing something to my therapy experience that he, himself, had found lacking during his own knee injury some years before. Fellow Yelpers, listen to me... HE MEANT EVRY WORD. He put such extra time and effort into my recovery I cannot explain in words just how truly touched I am. He made me want to be a better trainer to my own clients! We all know that in the everyday grind we can sometimes fall into a zone of "comfortablity" and forget what it means to really approach our jobs with the utmost attention and INtention everyday. But, somehow, Phil has found the focus and motivation to bring 110% to every session I had with him and for that I am so extraordinarily GREATFUL. THIS LEFT ARM IS MY LIFE. If it wasn't for Phil I would've never known I should NOT be in a sling, but actually a mobility-controlled arm brace. I would've never known that I should be not only stretching, but flossing the nerves. I would've never known the correct way to supinate my wrist, Doing it incorrectly was already causing me terrible pain by the time I'd started with him a few week behind schedule. I just finished reading Marie L.'s review and it stands in such stark contrast to the multitude of overwhelmingly positive reviews, which can be found in Facebook and on Panetta's home page, that one may reasonably ask whether Marie L. is more interested in mudslinging than truth telling. My mother, who will be 90 in July, God willing, is recovering from a hip fracture and has been receiving P.T. at Panetta, Roslyn, for approximately 6 weeks, 3 times a week. As I drive her there and am present throughout her sessions, I have witnessed the staff interacting with each other, and more importantly, interacting with the patients. The three words that best describe the treatment ethos of Panetta are PATIENT CENTERED CARE! From the patient's initial evaluation and continuing throughout their treatment, they are assigned a physical therapist who does hands on therapy with the assistance of closely supervised P.T. aides, who are attending P.T. school. As a result the P.T. is highly informed about the patient's needs, goals, and progress toward their goals. THEY LISTEN AND RESPOND TO THE PATIENT'S NEEDS, while also provide compassionate encouragement and correction. Although currently unemployed, I practiced Social Security Disability law, as an attorney, for 21 years. Through those years of practice, I attained a significant amount of knowledge about P.T. , including what distinguished a fair facility from a good one and what distinguishes a great facility. Panetta is an example of P.T. HEAVEN! Neither my mother nor I would ever consider seeking treatment elsewhere. Last summer, my stopped car was rear-ended at full speed on the LIE. This recent accident awakened a sacral injury from an old car accident. For some forty years, I had had no pain in my sacral joint, no symptoms. Now the pain was excruciating with no relief. I had to "sleep" sitting up. I could barely walk ... until I met Dr Dan Horowitz, the PT miracle worker! Dr Dan provided immediate pain relief from the dislocated sacral joint. Upon review of my films and further evaluation, he determined that the sacral joint was no longer stable. Although he put it back in place, it frequently slipped out. His goal was to build up the muscles that hold these bones in place and improve flexibility. Over time, in partnership with Dr Dan, we have been working on his therapeutic goals to great success. The side effect is that my neck pain and headaches are mostly gone. Now the joint slips out of place much less often. Thanks to Dr Dan's strategic guidance, I can move without pain and when pain catches up to me, I know better how to manage it, restore function and hopefully prevent further problems. I am confident that at the end of this process, I will be totally pain free, like before this recent car accident but in better physical shape! So far, Dr Dan has helped me progress beyond my expectations. He is a consummate professional, very creative in his therapeutic approaches and personable - easy to talk to about PT concerns. I arrived at Panetta Physical Therapy in Roslyn suffering from atypical MPPV- Positional Vertigo. Dizziness, neck pain, nausea, you name it. Like being on a rolling ship in high seas. Couldn't drive, walking was highly entertaining, and forget looking upwards! Not happening. Phil Caruso, D.P.T. tried the standard maneuvers, including Epsley, but they didn't seem to work. Phil researched and discovered some other maneuvers. We began to experiment. After 1 month, success! In 1 session doing a series of maneuvers, the crystals fell into place and I was cured! Between doing the exercises he recommended at home, and the therapy sessions, the vertigo disappeared. If it wasn't for the creative minds and expertise of the therapists at Panetta Physical Therapy & Balance Specialists, I'd still be suffering. The staff are all wonderful, kind people. It's a special place and you feel it whenever you arrive. From dear Jennifer, the Office Manager, to Dre, Ashley, and the other therapist staff, everyone is committed to the well-being of each patient, from the very young to the quite elderly. I chose Panetta PT because of its proximity to my home, but frankly, it would have been worth a drive five times as long for the level of care and therapeutic treatment I've received here. Every member of the staff is top shelf, beginning with the front desk that's friendly and quick to accommodate even a schedule as specific as mine. The assistants who worked me through my prescribed exercise regimen were all superb, especially Dana, whose knowledge and passion for kinesthetic work is completely inspiring. The big kudos here go to the PT's themselves, two gents who are rock stars in the field as far as I'm concerned. I was lucky enough to have a few sessions with Danny, but my regular therapist was Steve, about whom I could rhapsodize for days. Besides being extraordinarily skilled and completely expert in his professional knowledge, Steve is vastly generous in the time he takes to educate his patients, and highly responsive to the immediate needs of patients before, during and after each session. In two months, I have progressed from barely being able to engage my right shoulder at all to being able to do full push-ups again. Best of all, I've learned what to do and what not to do in the future to protect this fussy joint. The space is sanitary and well attended, the location has ample parking and the care simply cannot be beat. Don't be surprised if, like me, you come to Panetta Roslyn as an anonymous face and leave feeling like a member of the family. read more

After having a total knee replacement this June, I selected Panetta Physical Therapy, in Roslyn, for my rehab. it was recommended by a friend, and i'm thrilled i took his advice. it was the perfect place for the intense therapy I needed. Steve Wiley was my primary therapist and he made me feel I would definitely succeed in my journey to recovery. he is kind, caring, encouraging, attentive, and built up my self confidence during my sessions. he gave me exercises and strategies that helped return me to my active lifestyle. his knowledge in his field is impressive. his smile makes you feel welcome at each and every visit. in addition to Steve, Dan has helped me with my rehab, as well. he is always willing to help and shows the same expertise as Steve. they both understood my anxiety during this rehab, and could not have been more understanding. seeing all my positive results just proved how great they are. the support staff are wonderful, too. the receptionist and the assistants to the Physical Therapists, are helpful, kind, attentive, and thorough. I have been going 3x weekly for over a year. I was in an auto accident January 2016. Panetta has saved my life. I have been able to go back to work and manage my pain. Stephen Wiley is my Physical therapist and has done a great job with my lower body. My upper body -neck and shoulder has been more of a challenge ...but he never gives up give up. I am trying to avoid surgery (fusion). Stephen is always in good spirits and a welcome site to see him smiling first thing in the morning when I feel like crap and my neck and shoulder are so stiff. I honestly cannot imagine where I would be without the wonderful staff at Panetta in Roslyn. I am in the right hands, I know that. (My daughter, when she tore her ACL and mu=iniscus was in a PT facility that was a factory - so I know a good one when I see it) I have also regularly seen the very knowledgeable and experienced Chiropractor located there - Dr. Pruden- who is not affiliated with Panetta but has an office in the building. After recent injuries at work that included a back injury and torn tendons in my elbow, I was in pretty bad shape. My doctor prescribed physical therapy. Panetta Physical Therapy in Roslyn was recommended to me through family. On my initial consultation I met my therapist Stephen Wiley. Right away I knew he would be the person to get me back in shape. It was obvious from the start that he had a solid educational foundation and a passion for working with people. He was always enthusiastic, conscientious, calm and confident. He truly seemed committed to making a difference in people's lives. As part of my therapy, Steve included patient education so that I could learn techniques and exercises I could use at home to help myself. After only a few sessions I was feeling better. Steve treated me with the utmost professionalism. I noticed by observing him with other patients he did the same. The only thing I could say that was negative about him was that he is a Eagles fan. Well, There isn't anything bad to say about this location. The staff is great, VERY accommodating, you need a certain time? They will work it out, and the therapists (which I've tried all three that are currently at this location) are phenomenal! Their names are Daniel, Phil and Steve. Each of the therapists have their own personalities and have their own techniques on how they do things. The aides which include Cristian, Dana and Josh are ALL knowledgeable. Want to know anything about any work out ? Such as what it does for your body, why you need to continue doing the exercises even after physical therapy ends? These three will give you all the answer you need! Why would anyone go anywhere else ? My mother has gone to a place where the therapist barely even sees you, you are mostly working with an aide, but NOT at Panetta Physical Therapy, you spend a decent amount of time with the therapist between 15-30 mins, they work on you, then its on to work outs with the aides! After you work out, get set up with some stim and heat! I feel like a whole new person when I leave here! Loose and ready for the day. read more

Excellent mannerisms displayed by Steve, Physical Therapist, Chris, assistant, and Amanda, receptionist. The entire staff is friendly and they make you feel comfortable during your time there. The format of physical therapy by Steve and exercise patterns that are observed and guided by Chris was extremely helpful and beneficial in my progress in rehabilitation of my right knee. I have found that the combined use of actual physical therapy (hands on), the observed/guided exercise patterns, the use of data gathering machines and the sheets of exercises to do on my own at home has enabled me to strengthen my knee and surrounding muscles. As a result of the above, I am able to walk up and down stairs without pain and basically a pain free existence throughout the day. I have started to jog and continue to exercise at home with the detailed directions given to me by Steve. I am looking forward to skiing this winter because of the treatment given and confidence that has been restored in me. I am 22 years old and tore my Labrum in my shoulder. I had an amazing experience with Panetta. I never thought I can get my mobility and strength back without getting surgery. However Steve and the crew at Panetta proved me wrong. With the right techniques, exercises and care executed by Steve and Dan, I was quickly on the road to recovery. Of course, I had my doubts at first, but they remained patient with me and tracked my progress on a weekly basis. When I first tore my shoulder, my entire arm became weak to the point where I couldn't hold a cup in my hand. Lifting my blanket, folding my clothing and driving my car became strenuous activities. After about 3 months of strength and stabilization training I am back on my feet! I am confident to say that I have my strength and mobility back and feel great again. The right physical therapy is so important. You need to trust that things will work out. You need to have hope when it's at times too painful and you need to see results as time goes on. He's also a terrific problem solver looking for all the ways he can help alleviate your issues. I had many and most self created. He was patient and persistent - even asking their resident chiropractor to help me get past some issues that Steve believed would benefit me. He's an excellent chiropractor by the way. Phil Caruso is a star! My Mom just had a hip replacement and she has always hated physical therapy. She has always resisted doing any exercise that causes her "pain" and thought physical therapy wasn't necessary after her surgery (since some doctors she spoke to believed that!?) Anyway, I was always a big believer in PT and exercise and did research on convenient places that she could easily get to...I quickly found Panetta PT thanks to Yelp and the reviews that folks write highlighting Phil Caruso as a good therapist. Well, that was TRUE! Phil has completely turned my Mom around to ENJOYING PT and not resisting it at all. She trusted Phil to manipulate her leg appropriately to improve her mobility and flexibility. He is understated and EXCELLENT at what he does. I can't recommend him more highly. Thank goodness for Phil! My Mom says her hip "doesn't hurt at all" and she is doing more walking than she has done in years! read more

Excellent treatment and friendly staff! I went to Panetta for knee pain after seeing an orthopedist who highly recommended them. The receptionists, aides, and PT's were all so nice and professional. The office itself is a nice clean environment and you can tell its maintained well. The Pt's are hands on meaning they actually massage and stretch you every visit, which you will not find at many offices. They also used heat, ice and stim because my knees hurt so bad I could hardly walk up the stairs in my house. I could tell my PT really cared about getting me back to the activities I couldn't do anymore (bike riding, running etc..) I felt a little better after each visit. She also gave me an exercise program and taught me how to do each activity. Now I am stonger than I have ever been! Thanks to panetta I can work without pain and continue doing the activites I love. read more

Back again. This time with shoulder pain, lack of arm movement and pain down my arm. If you've had that you know how debilitating it can be. Lucky for me, Phil was available to treat me. Over a period of just a few weeks, he worked with me to stretch, get back range of motion and strength. His hands on approach and warm personality, made even the painful exercises fly by. Phil's expertise also discovered a neck weakness that may have been exacerbating the arm and shoulder issue. We worked on that, as well. As with Terese, Phil listened to my issues and solved them with methodical increase in exercies and follow up. I appreciate his ability to listen and provide an individual program to meet my needs. The rest of the staff, especially Jennifer makes the office "user friendly". There is no better PT in the area and it's worth the ride if you live further away. read more

My mother repeatedly told me "Actions speak louder than words", so please consider my actions: 1) After being treated by Dr. Phil Caruso over a year ago following extensive bunion surgery (and enjoying a greater range of motion after the procedure than before), I then: 2) returned recently for neck and shoulder pain, which were treated highly effectively with hands-on massage, weight exercises, and gentle electrical muscle stimulation; then: 3) referred my wife, who was experiencing musculoskeletal chest pain and began experiencing relief after the first session; and - yet to come - 4) plan on having our daughter treated after her anticipated bunion surgery next year. The staff at Panetta Physical Therapy was exceptional. When I first arrived there, I was greeted with a friendly, yet, professional demeanor. Amanda at the front desk was courteous and quite helpful with all the forms that needed to be filled out. She was able to answer any question that I had regarding my insurance coverage. Phil, the physical therapist listened intently to my issues and was able to determine what line of action was necessary to minimize the pain. Phil's knowledge of physical therapy was evident as his strategy in tackling my problem has me back to an active lifestyle. His assistant Allison was excellent with the rehabilitation process. Panetta in Roslyn has the best physical therapists i've ever worked with. I have been a patient here after a knee surgery and then for bells palsy. I specifically worked with Jenn who was an amazing therapist. She was patient with my million questions, compassionate and such a great energy to be around. There was a few times I worked with the other therapists in the office who were also all amazing. They always continue to follow up with me and see my progress even if they are not treating me directly. I am so grateful i found this place and so grateful for the awesome therapists here. Also, Kayla at the front desk is always so helpful and so nice. She always helps work around my schedule and makes sure to get me in every week! If i could rate more than 5 stars I would. read more
