He doesn't hire aids to take blood pressures or temps; he does it himself! His secretary is very sweet, too, and they are always willing to squeeze you in on a moments' notice if at all possible. The doctors were extremely dismissive, brushing off my previously diagnosed medical problems as 'nothing serious' while accusing me of 'overreacting' for asking for help in managing them. Serious abnormalities in the results of bloodwork done previously were also met with a similar attitude. Any medical advice they bothered to give me came in the form of extremely basic things I was already doing ("diet/exercise/vitamins"), advice that was outdated or based on old wives' tales, and even one or two things that were downright dangerous for me -- nothing actually useful. Requests for diagnostics and evaluations recommended by a couple of my other doctors were denied, with no reason given other than, "you can't treat an incurable illness, so why bother diagnosing it?" Huh?! The bloodwork I had done previously was repeated here, but it was not drawn at my office visit -- I had to set up an appointment to come back a few days later. Which would have been fine if they didn't completely forget about my appointment, forcing me to wait a lot longer than I should have while the doctor got her act together. The disorganization didn't end there, though: they never called me with my bloodwork results, nor did they return the many calls I made asking for someone to please call me with them. I finally gave up and went to the office in person to demand a copy of results. When I saw the same abnormalities that were previously brushed off by the doctors here, I asked again for someone to please call me to go over them. Unsurprisingly, no one ever did. On top of all this (as if it wasn't bad enough), this office billed me incorrectly for a type of service I never received, and despite months of arguing AND them admitting the error was their fault, they ultimately refused to correct it, which screwed up my insurance and stuck me with a bill for a few hundred dollars. My experience here was all-around atrocious, and based on it, I highly recommend that you avoid this practice and the doctors associated with it. There are plenty of other doctors in the area who are much, much better at what they do.

I've never seen her checking webmd when I describe my ailments; that is something that causes me no small amount of trepidation. Dr Hanna looks me in the eye when we speak, and she takes the time to listen. Dr. Hanna give good advice and I do listen to her. She is always warm and friendly, good bedside manner. She makes me feel comfortable, as she is sympathetic to my ailments. The staff are great, always friendly and we have a lot of laughs (laughing is good for you, look it up). I feel sorry for the people who left bad reviews. I'm not sure if they came on an off day or maybe for some people nothing is ever good enough.

I told her after weighing me to not tell me my weight since I have body image issues and don't like to focus on my weight number since it can be upsetting for me. That was the first sign of disrespect. Then she starts mocking my beliefs and morals that are linked to my diet. I tell her I suffer from anemia. She acts like she doesn't believe me and "how could I know that" my previous doctor diagnosed me with it? She then tells me that I do have it and starts telling me I'm malnourished. I asked her for advice on what to eat and she just starts listing things that I already eat. I tell her I'm depressed, have trouble sleeping and she offers no help other than "try Prozac" with a laugh. She then says I'm social and have friends so I'm fine. Completely disrespectful. She asked me if I was sexually active and before I could answer she just said no and writes that down. I tried to explain that wasn't the case but she didn't believe me? Or didn't take it seriously? It was so uncomfortable. I had a lot of concerns and questions about my health and when I tried to ask she cuts me off and tells me "I have other patients" and ended the appointment. What the hell. Don't go to her. My family sees other doctors there and are fine but don't go to Barbara.

I was happy with my previous GYN and only saw Stefanie because my regular was unavailable, but I'm so glad it happened. I never thought I could be THIS comfortable with a gynecologist. She's is down to earth, friendly, supportive, really takes all the uneasiness out of these visits. I've never had any experience as bad as others have said regarding wait time at the Matawan office, but it does vary. For my most recent appointment, I was called in even before I finished completing the intake forms.

Many psychiatrists just hand out prescriptions and send you or a loved one on their way. Dr Awad is old school and establishes relationships with his patients to determine how medications are correctly working. He goes truly over and beyond to help people.
