Shame on me. I keep coming back here to give them another shot. I've only ever been here for breakfast (5+ times) so I can't speak to their dinner service or dinner menu, but here is what I can tell you about breakfast. The ambience is nice and quaint. Decor is fitting. Every time I've been in the service has been miserably slow. The menu looks amazing but the food has always been just ok. I thought today was different but as I waited the hour and fifteen minutes between being seated and receiving our food (ordered immediately after being seated) my hopes were dashed against the shores of lake Waconia. This time I had the Nutella and banana waffle with hash browns, my kids had biscuits and gravy with sunny side up eggs, a chocolate pancake with scrambled eggs and a salmon omelet. The waffle was fine but nothing special. The sunny side up eggs were not cooked and the whites were runny and snotty. We asked if we could substitute the hash browns for a healthier option on the salmon omelet and were told that they do not allow substitutions. You don't get to have that attitude followed by terrible service and food quality barely average. TL;DR: slow service, meh food, pricing that doesn't align with their attitude, flexibility that doesn't align with their product. Be prepared to wait at least a half an hour to have your water refilled. read more

This is my go to breakfast location. I tend to go early because it gets to be extremely busy, for a very good reason. The food is outstanding! I have tried multiple items and have not been disappointed by any of them. It's my understanding they are now open for evening meals too now. Went for the first time and had a great breakfast. My son had the French toast,bacon and hash browns. He ate every bit of it and loved it. I had the turkey tomato benidict. I loved it. We absolutely love the food here and the ownership is awesome. Unfortunately, we have had to stop frequenting Pangea due to the extremely long service times. The joke in our house is that we will only go there if we have 3 hours to eat - that's the joke, but reality isn't far off. Our fastest outing for two people has been 1.5hrs for sausage, eggs & pancakes. Edit. 4 months since my last review and unfortunately downgrading this once loved place again. Pangea, all seven continents in one land mass. Now this restaurant is trying to portray themselves as a jack of all trades, a one stop rest shop, a place to stuff your face. But really the only item with taste is their breakfast. The title Pangea was very misleading. They try to compensate by having certain options in Spanish but they are not fooling anyone. I tried the "pollo taco" (chicken taco) for dinner. If I had three wishes 1 would be to have more chicken than avocado on my taco, 2 would be to have tortillas that wouldn't break, and 3 would be to wish for more wishes. If I can't get more wishes, I would wish I never went to Pangea for dinner. read more

The food here is pretty good, they have a few interesting twists on pancakes, eggs Bennie, etc., that we really enjoy eating. The atmosphere is nice and it's in a convenient location. The only problem is it takes almost 2 hours to eat here. We've gone at different times of the day for breakfast, tried different days, but each time it takes OVER an hour to get your food. So you might want to have a snack before you go if you're really hungry. Then after you scarf your food down you have to wait almost 30 minutes to get your tab and pay. read more

Went with family. Only good thing was waitress was nice and waffles we're good. I had the salmon Benedict that was way over lemon flavored and the salmon was very fishy. I tasted that combo for half the day. The bangers aren't bangers they are just very peppery sausage. One of my poached eggs came demolished and the other one was fine but couldn't eat as Hollandaise was so bitter and lemony. Will possibly give another chance trying something else but price is crazy high for the flavor and ling wait to get food and bill. Ok Pangea's food is super yummy. But twice I've been there with kids and the service was SO slow. This morning there were just three other tables and our food took way too long to get to us. With two little kids, that makes for a challenging morning. What took so long!? Maybe give us an expectation of how long it will take for food to get to us. This morning we also found out their AC was broken after we mentioned how warm we were. The thermostat (by the bathroom) said it was 83 degrees! We were sweating and it was a little unbearable. I really wish we were told before we ordered that the AC was broken. Here's what I think could have made this visit better: if your AC is out, let customers know right away before you seat them. Open windows, bring in fans, keep the ice water coming. When we ask for coffee (before we know we are going to boil inside your restaurant), ask us if we'd like iced coffee. Tucked away in Waconia, MN is one of the most fantastic cafes I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Their food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is very kind. The menu has quite a few options but not an overwhelming amount which I appreciate. It only means that they have perfected what they do serve. I love pangea. Food is awesome. We love the eggs benedict! If you love hollandaise, ask for extra it's 75 cents, but it's soooo good. I prefer the crab benedict, hubby prefers the two towers which has sausage but both are excellent. We often split one order and get a side of french toast. The waffles are huge and we love the banana nutella one. Reubens are also great, hunks of meat not deli meat. Wild rice soup has great flavor too. read more

The omelette was great, with big chunks of ham, and the hash browns were unique (what can you do to hash browns, right?). They slice the potatoes super-thin, almost like noodles. Have only been there for breakfasts which are great! Various breakfast meals we've seen before but kicked up a few notches. Corned beef hash is nice, big pieces of corned beef, diced fresh potatoes, onions, peppers...not like other restaurants serving the out-of-the-can corned beef hash. We had to wait over 45 minutes to get our food! When we got it finally, it did not even look appetizing, my scrambled eggs were still runny..... Also when we went to pay the cashier did not even listen to our complaint. She was gonna charge us for the whole meal, at least Hart the restaurant walked out because they waited over 30 minutes. No waitress came by to say what was going on or why it was taking so long, not til it was 30 minutes after. I am pretty sure they made their to go orders before anyone's in the store.... Arrived for breakfast on a Monday around 10 a.m. I made up of maybe 6 people that were eating there. I was greeted by a friendly face and was led to a table near a window, tucked away from the rest of the customers. I looked over a nice array of breakfast food; Build your own breakfast sandwich, eggs Benedict selections, omelets, pancakes and breakfast skillets. I ordered the salmon lox omelet that had red onion, spinach, tomatoes, capers and cheve, with a side of hash browns. The hash browns were perfect and the omelet was perfectly cooked, no browning on the eggs. It was a very large portion of food so I'm assuming that's why the cost. I thought it was expensive for what I consider a greasy spoon. I would have liked a reason for the expense stated on the menu., I.e. farm to table, organic ingredients, large portions. The ambiance was okay. It was clean. It wasn't a warm place that I wanted to linger. They had pleasant music playing, however it blended in with the kitchen staffs music. Waconia is in need of more restaurants downtown and this is definitely a step up from all the bar food in town. I give it 3 stars because for the type of food I ordered I shouldn't have waited so long to get it and felt it overpriced for what it was and the ambiance was lacking. read more
