At the casino for a show decided to stop here for a bite to eat. Many great menu items, but I chose the 1/2 Soup and 1/2 Sandwhich. The Minnesota Wild Rice soup was excellent. Just the right temperture, creamy, soft and enjoyable. The sandwich was the surprise. I ordered the 1/2 Grilled Cheese. It was three layers of bread with cheese between the to layers. The surprise was the slices of tomato and red onion betweeen the two bottom pieces of bread. I'm going go try this at home. Moncy was the name of my server. I commented on her name because it has a similar spelling to an Spanish Sopran, Montserrat Caballe. Moncy was pleasant, explained, option, and was quick with the service. The restaurant is kind of right our in the open in the middle or at the eastern end of the casino property. Even though the location had it in the middle of this open space, but it was still quiet and I could hear myself think. Every time I'm at Mystic Lake Casino I crave for the chicken wild rice soup. The restaurant is located near the hotel side, across from the hotel lobby and casino bar. The restaurant is wide open, natural lighting from the ceiling. We were thinking about ordering to go but we had time to kill and decided to sit and dine. Solid breakfast albeit a bit greasy. We came New Year's Day morning. We all ordered a variation of The Full House breakfast. Eggs were cooked perfect. Hashbrowns good but a little greasy. Meat was good though would have preferred the ham without the bone in the middle. Pancakes were better then the French toast, which were small and kinda tough. Toast was very buttery as well, especially the English muffin. The restaurant itself is very nice. Recently remodeled and plenty of space at the tables. It was busy but wasn't to loud. Our server was great as well, while I don't remember her name, she checked in on us to make sure everything was good and brought refills when needed. Prices are reasonable as well. read more

The place was bright and cheery. The host was super inefficient. Half the place was empty and yet there was a huge line to get in. The line was filled with elderly and people with disabilities. That didn't seem to matter to the host. I would suspect that the patrons would understand that service might be slow vs trying to stand in the long slow line. The menu was filled with items that sounded amazing but in reality the food was far from delicious. I had the taco salad which would to the human eye would like safe. Choice but in fact it wasn't. We did have the chocolate cake and boy that was super good. My partner had the Caesar salad and wings. I haven't ever seem him not finish his lunch but he did. He also asked for the wings to come out 1st but not only did they not come out first they forgot to make them altogether so they came out 15 minutes after his salad. Pretty good breakfast. We each ordered a breakfast and we split a Cinnamon, Caramel Pecan roll. We were seated immediately and a server was right over to take our drink order. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Skillet with Medium Poached Eggs. The egg whites were still a big runny but I scooped it out. The hash was decent. My wife had 2 poached eggs, hash browns and ham. Her hash browns were amazing as they were nice and crispy. Her ham was great as well. He poached eggs also had runny whites but she doesn't mind it so much. Mee-dee-oh-cur. This place is about as okay as it gets. The fried chicken sandwich was bland beyond bland. No seasoning in the breading and the sriracha mayo, was lacking flavor too. It was dry AF too. The bacon ranch that came with the curds was just meh. David gave good service though. Its a great place for seniors and children, nothing is too spicy or salty or possessing any flavor. I think I'll just get some slot dogs on the casino floor next time. read more

Good food, tons of seating, slow service. I've been going to the Minnehaha Cafe for years as it is one of the few restaurants open late at Mystic Lake (still disappointed they closed the buffet). I love getting the Wild Rice soup or the Big Mouth Burger. You'd think with the number of waitstaff that the service would be better- perhaps management needs to do a better job training. Love the native decor around the ceiling/tipi dome. Minnehaha Cafe is worth checking out if you are gambling or staying at Mystic Lake - just hope they aren't short staffed! read more

Walking in for a solo birthday lunch, I have to admit I was taken aback being handed the $8 Seniors Menu - until I realized everyone had them! Lol. This open casino Cafe is not really different from hundreds of others. They try to nod to Minnesota Indigenous people with wild rice soup and a wild rice bread but nothing on the menu popped out at me. I waited in my shrubbery-shrouded corner table up against the cashier station for a solid ten minutes before anyone approached. I ordered a Bloody Mary and said I was ready to order, but this was not my server. To be honest with you, I still have no idea which of the five various people stopping by during lunch was my server. The Bloody Mary appeared with what appeared to be a meal perched on a stick (see photo). Now, the Bloody Itself was delicious. Topped with olive, celery stick, pepperoncini, olive, pepperoni stick, chunk of cheddar, two pretzels. It looked impressive and I assume justified the $9 price. Until I tried to separate the food from the stick and realized this garnish had been prepared MANY days earlier. The celery was wilted and curling in on the ends, the pepper was dry and fell apart, even the cheese was old and crusty. And how long does a green olive have to sit out to get dry and wrinkly? (see picture) I complained and they took the garnish away but I think I pissed the bartender off because when I ordered another Bloody sans garnish, it tasted like a salt lick. Undrinkable. They still charged me for both. My Patty Melt was ok, and the creamy Cole slaw was good. Service was quite slow and disjointed. Just a disappointing meal for $35. read more

The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Good drinks and the waitress was very good! Wonderful bartender! However our meals were very expensive and super small portions. My lady got the shrimp and grits. They were ok very bland flavors and overall oily. I ordered the Cioppino. It was so salty I could barely eat it. Cioppino is an amazing dish. However this one had 3 shrimp, 1 mussel, a 1" piece of salmon and maybe a scallop or two. At $34 a bowl you'd think you'd receive a large portion. But no. I maybe got a cup and a half of broth. I dined here again recently. The service really depends on weather the A or B team is working. They were not that busy and it took the server 10 minutes to come and take my order. Then another 15 minutes to bring my order. (Soup & Salad). Also, I requested a booth and was told that none were available. I saw two that were empty. So instead of being seated in a booth that held 4 people I was seated at a table for 6. 1 person at a table for 6!!! Within 5 minutes of being seated I noticed they seated someone in the booth that supposedly was NOT available. read more

Ate breakfast here twice while I stayed at Mystic for Twin Cities Summer Jam had biscuits and gravy with egg and bacon food was served fast and hot biscuits tasted a little sweet almost like cornbread which was slightly off putting not the worst I have ever had but probably would not recommend. Goodness, the food was horrible. We usually don't grab food here, but since the promenade fusion restaurants were closed because it was after hour -we settled for this place. It was extremely busy because this was the only eatery left open (3am). Staff was low and slow. I understand completely and we were just on our phones anyways. Waiter was quick to bring us water, it was the wait time after. Some guests came in, was seated, then left. Got our food a good 45 mins after. The wings..... 1/5...they were undercooked ...I should have taken a photo, but I didn't. The celery was good tho, dipped in blue cheese. The mushroom Swiss .. 2/5 ...not enough salt .. My husband said the double burger was alright. We would not return. Next time, we will just stop at McDonald's on the drive back home. We still left a $10 tip though since the waiter was really trying his best to accommodate all the people who were requesting and waving him down. He was really busy. The girlfriend and I went out for dinner and to play a few games at the casino. We've never eaten here before, and we were both blown away by the flavors of the food. We sat at the bar and had great service from Mark. I ordered the soup of the day, which happened to be Italian Tomato, and she ordered the wild rice. My soup had a nice heat to it and tasted incredible. She said hers tasted just like her grandma's. Next we shared the chicken quesadilla. Wow, from the smokiness from the cheeses, the avocado aioli, to the tenderness of the chicken, even the perfectly grilled tortilla. Just everything was amazing about it. Finally I had the 13 hour pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The pulled pork was heaven in a bun. Sweet, savory and melt in your mouth tender. Large portion, but not so large that I had to take any home. The coleslaw had a slight citrus flavor, possibly from orange juice. Aside from that, I felt it needed a little something, possibly a little salt and pepper. Honestly, it was the only sub par aspect of our experience. A few times throughout our dining experience, the sous chef came out. We told him our impressions each time. He gave us some suggestions for our next visit. I will definitely be taking him up on them. Just as we received our bill, Chanice brought us a dessert, a slice of New York Cheese, a gift from the sous chef! We split it and again, blown away by it. I was here around a month ago? The waitress got part of my order wrong so instead of getting, what was it, Cream of Mushroom soup?, she brought me a bowl of creamed chicken/wild rice. That was fine. It was good and a large bowl. It seemed almost twice as much as your average restaurant would serve. With some bread it would have sufficed as a meal. I then had the hot open faced turkey plate and a side of coleslaw (also a generous serving) as well as a house salad. I think. The turkey was just a tad dry but otherwise it was all quite good. Definitely too much for me. I can't eat that much anymore in one sitting, but I did. I was in the hotel so I wouldn't have had a way to heat up any leftovers. I do look forward to my next visit. The 3 for 2 nights hotel special is enticing. It is nice too that the cafe is just far enough away from the gaming floor so it wasn't too noisy. read more

Came here for dinner because the buffet is closed. I'm addicted to nacho, so couldn't refused ordering one. My friend ordered the pot roast. Nacho: bad, not sure if the beef was truly beef. It reminded me of high school nacho. The salsa was not freshly made, it came from a pre-made bottle. The pot roast: was tender, but was burnt a little. The bread that came with it was soggy. This cafe on the grounds of the Mystic Lake Hotel and Casino is pretty bad. I have seldom experienced food so devoid of flavor because I typically seek out restaurants with much higher ratings. However, being trapped at this casino for a conference, I had no choice but to come here. My advice is to get things that are not easily screwed up - sandwiches, breakfast foods - but be prepared to add salt and pepper for flavor. Also, ask for lemon with your water so you can squeeze some lemon juice into your food to brighten up the flavor a bit. Oh, and don't forget to request hot sauce. You are going to have to take flavor into your own hands here. Consider it a challenge from the food gods. read more

The hashbrown weren't done at all and one of my eggs was hard booked and the other over hard when they are supposed to be over easy with runny yolk. The Hallandaise sauce was tasteless and cold..English muffins were hard to cut and chew. We let the waitress know and all she asked was if we wanted something else..we were in a hurry as one friend had to get to airport so we couldn't ask them to redo it. The manager came over and offered the same as the waitress. We get our bill and the waitress tells us she credited 2 milks we ordered. What a slap in the face. The only part of the meal that was ok. Plus I like that you can earn points for eating here. It's very nice and clean and our servers were great. Someone at our table ordered a drink and the server had it corrected. Great place for breakfast. They have generous portions at reasonable prices. The selection is nice for a smaller cafe. We ate here several times during our conference, and these breakfasts were some of the better meals at Mystic (much better than the buffet or promenade imo). Their lunches are pretty good. Mostly sandwiches, salads, but some entree options. If you like spinach artichoke dip, I'd highly recommend Minnehaha's. It tasted more like home made than I think I've ever had. The waitresses were really friendly. I even remembered I needed to run back to my room for something and my waitress just tipped the other chair up at the table so they knew I'd be back. I was a little disappointed that more of the menu items weren't on the room service menu (orders go through the TV). It would also be nice if the room service hours were earlier/later in the day. read more

I must be honest at first glance, if you've been to about a hundred other casinos like I have, you wouldn't make Minnehana Cafe your first stop for food when arriving at a casino. It's situated in the center of the casino just past the Front Desk and open lounge area and Caribou Coffee Lounge. It looks like the entrance to a theme park attraction. Out in the open air and a kitchen nestled away somewhere in the back. For two days I've walked by this unsuspecting restaurant until this morning when I realized my flight home was canceled. Early in the morning, hungry and disgruntled I begrudgingly decided to get something to eat. After looking over the limited, standard breakfast options I settled on the pancakes and eggs. "How bad could they be? Right?" OMG! These were some of THE best pancakes I've ever had! Light, fluffy, buttery and fresh. My server was so wonderful and kind and the entire staff was as friendly as can be. A full stack and coffee and I was out the door for a little over $10. If I ever have to go back my first meal will be at the Minnehana Cafe and no matter what time it is, I'll be ordering some pancakes! read more

I have came here for years and always liked the food. I went there last night and had the hot beef, always a hit. Nope! It had a little dollop the size of a golf ball on top. It was cold. I told the waitress about it. I thought it was a meat ballad it had such a strange texture. The whole meal was lukewarm. Ok fast forward to today. I will give it another chance, as there really are no other on site breakfast options. I sit down order and then get my drink. I take my mask off. The mask patrol lady comes over and says "you have to keep that mask on". I say I'm drinking, well she says you have to take it up and down. My food comes and I am not about to slober on my mask so I take it off. I look up and there is a staff member with his mask hanging on one ear. Now I am mad! I was overlooking the limp toast that was cold. So I tell the lady I pay about this and want to speak with a manager. Well low and behold it was the guy with no mask. Well he tried to tell me he was entering data. Ok, then your excuse is no better than mine. The food in this place has really went downhill. I will not be back to eat here. For two days I have watched customers with masks off and it was not an issue as long as you are feeding cash in the machines. read more
