Why would anyone want to drive out of town to Perkins and pay the gas and time on an inferior meal when you could save the time and spend the same, including gas, to have a superior breakfast or lunch? The menu is fabulous with varieties of breakfast and lunch specials. I like the Roots with eggs and sausage. Coffee is great tasting and bottomless and their desert like breakfast are delicious and sweet. Came in on Black Friday and it was just what I needed to start the day! Their portions are large and it is a clean atmosphere. Dishes are not chipped and it doesn't feel greasy. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Omelette. It came with toast and hash browns. The omelette itself was a little tasteless, but still was good and large (this is why there are only five stars). The winner of the dish was the hash browns! They were the best hash browns I've ever had. They are thicker cut and grilled perfectly. I went back the next day and had classic eggs with bacon, hash browns, and cakes. The pancakes were dry and thick and served with artificial syrup. I wasn't too impressed with them. The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was great! I will be going back. The people working here are very nice. read more

Our first time venturing out here from Prior Lake. To say it was worth the drive was an understatement! A lovely drive, with sights including green fields and broken down farm houses. We pulled up out front and found a spot on the street with an American flag flying overhead. We were created by a friendly host and seated immediately. Food came out hot and quick. The Kitchen sink was incredibly tasty and and hearty. My wife and son both had Monkey Bread French Toast. It was so much food they could have split it. We will be back! The Good: An eclectic atmosphere The Bad: Ordered corned beef hash skillet. The plate had four (2 inch) pieces of stringy corned beef, with strings attached to four, chewing, inedible globs of gristle. For you Matrix fans, imagine four tiny sentinels hiding under your home fries and eggs. So, my breakfast time comprised of dissecting these corned beef sentinels, and chewing on somewhat corned beef flavored appendages. read more

The breakfast options AMAZING! I had the strawberry French toast, potatoes and bacon. Everything was mouthwatering. They serve breakfast at lunch (maybe all day), so I haven't tried a sandwich but the options are limitless. Great concept. Very comfortable setting and friendly staff. Everyone there told me how excellent the food is, and everything looked yummy. I ordered the salmon Benedict and a side of bacon. I asked that the hash browns be VERY well done, crispy, hard, whatever they call it. The service was quick. The poached eggs were perfect. The salmon a little too salty, but what can you do? However. The potatoes had one browned shred. The rest were underdone at best and slightly raw at worst. The bacon was hot, with so much grease bubbling on it that I had to ask for extra napkins to blot it. And sadly, the hollandaise was bitter -- much too much lemon. All in all, I don't want to give this place a bad review, but they really should work on fixing some of the basics. read more

This place is an absolute gem. Here it is, just 20 minutes west of the Twin Cities, yet it feels like one of those wonderful breakfast places you would find in northern Minnesota- maybe Ely or Grand Marais. I started with a Bloody Mary (of course it comes with a beer chaser). For breakfast, I had pancakes, hash browns and bacon. The food was absolutely outstanding. The hash browns were fantastic - thinly shredded and browned to perfection. The bacon was crispy, and the pancakes were large, hearty, and wonderful. I couldn't finish my breakfast, and all for $9! It is definitely worth the trip out to downtown Waconia. I will be back again, and again, and again... read more

The waits are pretty long so if it's your first time here and you're starving maybe try somewhere else. It also is pretty busy any time I go so try to book a reservation in advance so you have a table. Food's always been good, and they have these spin-offs of mimosas that I love (haven't had one I haven't liked yet). All-in-all it's worth the wait if you have the time. read more

I have been here 4-5 times over the past year on Sunday mornings. 20-30 minute wait is the norm. Today, 30 minutes. Several tables empty but not cleared. Smithed were short staffed but even so, there is always a wait. They need busboys on all the time. Saw two groups walk out at about 20-25 minutes of their wait and another two top walk out after no waitstaff approached them after 10 minutes. Food is usually good but the circus around ordering and having staff have to enter the information on the terminal is awkward. I suggested hand held pos terminals and was told we like to be intimate with the customers. I have waited one hour from the time I walked in, 30 minutes to get a table and 30 minutes at the table and still no food. I don't care about the interaction being technical but the server would save volumes of time per table entering the order right away. read more

This was the best breakfast that we have had in Minnesota while on vacation. And we have tried many breakfast spots. We ordered a Fiesta Skillet, French toast, Blueberry pancakes, and the Two Towers Eggs Benedict. Then we had to order another blueberry pancake because it was so good. It tastes like a hot blueberry muffin. Everything was delicious and coffee was good too. We will definitely come back next year when we are back in town. read more

I'm a regular here. I often eat and then go see a movie afterwards. My favorite things to order are the chicken tacos.

The owners are dedicated to perfection! The menu items are delicious in every facet! The not particularly young blonde server with the curler shorter hair must go!!!!!! She ruins our experience at Pangea every single time. Definitely make your weekly experience include Pangea. But avoid this particular server at all costs. Bad asset to Pangea. I was hesitant to come here due to the reviews. I ordered banana foster waffles, but ended up with with banana foster french toast. I oredered it with the chunky cinnamon bread (from our local grocery store). It was soooo yummy. The coffee was smooth & strong. My husband had the crab eggs benedict. My 2nd trip was for waconia's D.E.A.R. day. I ordered the cheese sampler. Once again i was very happy. We didn't wait long either time. If the food is delicious than it's worth waiting for. Shame on me. I keep coming back here to give them another shot. I've only ever been here for breakfast (5+ times) so I can't speak to their dinner service or dinner menu, but here is what I can tell you about breakfast. The ambience is nice and quaint. Decor is fitting. Every time I've been in the service has been miserably slow. The menu looks amazing but the food has always been just ok. I thought today was different but as I waited the hour and fifteen minutes between being seated and receiving our food (ordered immediately after being seated) my hopes were dashed against the shores of lake Waconia. This time I had the Nutella and banana waffle with hash browns, my kids had biscuits and gravy with sunny side up eggs, a chocolate pancake with scrambled eggs and a salmon omelet. The waffle was fine but nothing special. The sunny side up eggs were not cooked and the whites were runny and snotty. We asked if we could substitute the hash browns for a healthier option on the salmon omelet and were told that they do not allow substitutions. You don't get to have that attitude followed by terrible service and food quality barely average. TL;DR: slow service, meh food, pricing that doesn't align with their attitude, flexibility that doesn't align with their product. Be prepared to wait at least a half an hour to have your water refilled. read more

Fantastic food & Fantastic service! Visiting for wedding and bride took us all to lunch here. They serve breakfast all day which automatically makes them awesome! I chose lunch though & had Rueben; slow roasted for 7 hours & hand pulled, it was amazing! I went back next day and had the biscuits & gravy; the gravy has pancetta mixed in with the standard sausage gravy, again, absolutely amazing and prices are VERY reasonable! read more
