We highly recommend VIP Journeys Latin America for your travel needs and personal tour guide. Our amazing trip began in Bogotá with our travel guide, Camilo Garcia. We stayed at Sofitel Bogotá Victoria Regia Hotel. The accommodations were exquisite. Upon arrival into our room we were pleasantly surprised with a boxed set of Colombian Rum mini bottles for us to enjoy. We did a private tour of Bogotá, it was fantastic! We got to enjoy the Gold museum and several art galleries. Camilo introduced us to their traditional pastime, "Tejo" which essentially is like playing the Cornhole game here in America. Next, we travelled to Cartagena and stayed at the Charleston Santa Teresa Hotel which reminded us of a Spanish Hacienda with a beautiful open courtyard where we enjoyed breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We preferred staying in the walled city of Cartagena, it is a fairy tale city with cobblestone alleys in which got to enjoy open-air cafes & restaurants. Our tour guide Cesar Rada was sensational and great fun. We felt so ease with him, we invited him to lunch with us. Next we travelled to Pereira airport for the Coffee Region of Armenia for our lovely stay in this colonial style farmhouse, Hacienda Bambusa which perfectly located in the pristine Colombian Countryside. This majestic setting allowed us to unplug and connect with nature. We had never experienced anything like this before in all our travels. The staff were absolutely fantastic. They went out of their way to assist us with every request and to make our stay unforgettably memorable. Every morning we had breakfast facing the lush trees, vegetation whilst birds sang amongst us. Our last night in Hacienda Bambusa the staff arranged for live music to be played over dinner, it was straight out of a story book. We truly enjoyed our stay at Hacienda Bambusa. Our next and final destination was Medellin. It was short but sweet. Our tour guide, Juan Camilo Palenque was outstanding and so knowledgeable. Again we felt like we were traveling with a friend. We got to explore "El Poblado" the city's most contemporary district where we got to ride the cable cars. We also explored "Comuna 13" where we met with a graffiti artist who took us around this vibrant and bustling town. There were street vendors, street performers and art galleries that filled the streets. Lastly, we met with Jon "Ballas" aka Bullets, a witness of the Pablo Escobar era. He told of his activities involving the Medellin cartel. It was quite impactful and a surreal experience to sit and listen to his life story of assassin culture in Medellin during the 80s and 90s. Juan Camilo did a great job at translating Jon's riveting story. My husband and I left Colombia wanting for more. It is a country filled with so much history, culture and tradition. We absolutely loved it. This trip exceeded our expectations thanks to the phenomenal work of Lawrence Simon and his A-Team and VIP Journeys Latin America. He did a superlative job. One can only hope that a cruise meets the expectations that the advertisements often pique. In our case, Princess came up short, being that the ship seemed to be out of date in terms of decor and amenities. Food was also inconsistent. The tour advisor cannot be blamed for the failings of the cruise line. Without Dave Branson our experience would have been far different, and probably much less enjoyable.

I've been many times for over 25 years and booked direct and with travel agents. Direct is ok for something simple, you know the cruise line maybe and maybe repeating a trip...say Carnival for the Christmas weekend to Ensenada...but my experience is that the pricing is the same whether buying direct from the line or buying with a travel agent. The travel agent gets a small commission from the line, obviously but they are buying at a discount so the pricing is consistent whether buying from the travel agent or going direct. But what you get FOR FREE from the travel agent is often invaluable in the form of advice about a particular line, the cruise, the ports, where on the ship you want you state room and a dozen other question that these experts to provide. The team at Expedia Laguna Hills is great at this. Old school customer service, actually answering the phone personally and helping you RIGHT NOW, not a website, not endlessly clicking for answers you can't find, real answers when you need them. Dave, Chris and others are responsive, knowledgeable, experienced and very easy to understand, very hard to find in our modern world and so great to have them right here in Orange County.

All I did was answer a few questions for Dan and he really helped narrow down the choices. PRICE: I know this is cheesy but after my trip was booked, I looked up the exact same hotel with the same dates - IT WAS THE SAME PRICE as Expedia/Travelocity, actually a little cheaper than them. But it felt good to know I wasn't just a number like I would have been to those other sites. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Every time I had a question, I was able to email Dan directly and get quick response. I really trust his expertise advice. He even sent me a preparation type package of what to do and what not to do, depending on where you book your trip. We went to Cabo and he advised us to avoid the timeshare people in certain sections. They were so tricky and I really would have fell for it if Dan didn't tell us about it. The list had things like what to bring, not to bring, how to keep your house safe while traveling, etc. BONUS: He surprised us with a LIMO TO THE AIRPORT!
