Everything was very clean, the shower was great, and the overall experience was exactly what you would expect from a property of this caliber. I genuinely hope to return one day and be able to give the ranch a 5-star review, but there is one area I feel deserves some attention: the pool environment, specifically the enforcement of the pool rules with children. I completely understand that the pool can become extremely busy and that staff are understandably focused on serving guests. However, I think there needs to be more responsibility placed on the adults accompanying children, along with more consistent reminders from staff when necessary. The posted rules specifically prohibit ball throwing, diving, horseplay, yelling and screaming, and state that children under 14 should not be left unattended. Unfortunately, during our visit, nearly all of these rules were being disregarded. There were children throwing things, fighting, using foul language, and engaging in loud horseplay. At one point, drinks were even being spilled into the jacuzzi. It ultimately made the pool area feel more like a chaotic family pool than the peaceful, upscale environment the ranch is otherwise known for. Kids will be kids, and I certainly don't fault children for being energetic. My concern is that the ranch is a tucked-away oasis that feels very intentionally designed for adults and relaxation. The pool rules are there for a reason, and I think more consistent enforcement, and perhaps clearer reminders to parents, would go a long way toward preserving that atmosphere for everyone. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and the staff, property, and sustainability experience were exceptional. With some additional attention to the pool environment, I think the ranch could easily deliver the 5-star experience I hope to experience on our next visit.

I had high expectations when we arrived, and they actually surpassed that. Where do I even begin, first of all the entire place is beautiful. If clean, light, beachy/chic is your aesthetic, this place does not disappoint. The customer service was exceptional. EXCEPTIONAL. Cole initially helped us check in and even upgraded our stay to a presidential suite available! Honestly the most epic view and suite we could have ever booked! Thank you so much Cole! If the property was any closer to the water we would be in the water lol. So beautiful. I think this is going to end up being a staple getaway spot for us. If you are still deciding, I highly encourage you to book a stay here. We went to their restaurant for drinks and brunch the next day (cocktails, service, and food was amazing) , we booked a couples massage which was such a relaxing experience (both massage therapists were so kind and skilled), and we even laid by the pool which was also nice and relaxing. 5 stars in every category. Taking off one star since I later learned that it is quite hard to get a hold of you guys via phone. My husband was trying to surprise me with champagne and flowers and said nobody returned his voicemail and he tried calling back several times after :( Our travel agent also said that it was hard getting a hold of you guys for booking as well but it eventually got solved. However, on-site staff is very accommodating. I particularly wanted to give Ha a shoutout for a complex booking situation that she handled with great ease and superb customer service. When I learned that she was still in training, I was so surprised since she handled it like a pro with her conflict resolution skills. She was so warm and friendly -- I felt like I was talking to a long-time friend. Management, please give Ha a raise if you are reading this. We were initially going to write this place off since both my husband and agent were having a hard time getting in touch with the front desk but our experience with Ha really changed my perception afterwards. The resort was under major construction at this time and yet we still had a great experience. Resort offers valet and self-parking options. The self-parking is easy as you trade in your ticket for a reusable check-in/check-out card, which makes it easy. They felt a little understaffed for the weekend, but still kept the resort clean. Food took longer than it should and service took longer than it should but food was very good and service was excellent when it happened. Our room was clean and modern and gorgeous. A typical Marriott bed, so a great sleep experience. Air conditioning had the best self-control of any hotel. We've stayed in in a while, which is fantastic. The shower is ample and high so tall people can do as well as small people and had great hot water and pressure. Front Desk also felt overwhelmed and doing the best they could, but it wasn't great in terms of times we had to wait. Overall, we had a surprising stay in an area we've lived in for decades, and will definitely rebook for staycations in the future!

I mentioned the ant infestation to the manager the following day but he just surmised that the infestation was mostly likely because of the warm weather (?). (Personally, I think that I should have been offered at least some of my money back that I paid to rent to facility.) Anyway, that was a real spoiler for us. Other than that, everything else was ok. What could have been great, wasn't.

AMBIANCE Beautiful views throughout the course, calm setting, friendly staff, and well-kept greens. GOLF Tee time was 10:22am, and we were welcomed right away. Check-in was smooth, we were given a cart, and paired with Marla and Trish, who have played this course for years and made the round even more enjoyable. Holes 4 and 5 were my favorites. There are some challenging shots, but overall it's very playable and beginner-friendly. I'm still learning and walked away with a few bogeys, which felt great. OVERALL I only recently started playing with my best friend, and this has quickly become one of my favorite courses. Great place to play, learn, and enjoy the scenery. I'll definitely be back and hope to make this a regular stop. Highly recommend.

Visited the grand opening at the new Village of Gavilán Ridge in The Ranch (name of the HOA)…read more Gavilán Ridge is catered for the 55+ folks; there are 3 new-home builders who created 5 amazing neighborhoods. The Ranch had 4 shuttles to help with the parking and flow of traffic for this event. You couldn't figure out which table/line to show your reserved tickets for the event but when you did, the nice hostesses handed you a canvas tote bag and map/information about the Gavilán Ridge communities. Packed event but good vibes. It was neat that even people from nearby communities/neighborhoods came out to support the event and tour all the model homes. Each builder had a fun niche: honey tasting from Hapa Honey Farm, lavender sachet station, and a local band playing the oldies but goodies. There were food trucks and dessert tables mixed with vendors (local farm, yoga, etc.). Stretch before you start walking the models because there is plenty to see and stairs to climb. Fabulous backyard views of the hills. Rancho Mission Viejo feels like a small town and the communities at the Ranch are serene and cutoff from the city life. Who knew that OC still had a little piece of paradise hidden under its sleeves.
