They are seldom wrong. They give you the old parts they replaced (if you want to see them or hang them on the wall!) and also provide pictures of the work they did. Working on foreign cars typically is a little more expensive, but these folks do their best to keep the costs reasonable! read more

We were driving across country from New York to California and we broke down about an hour out of Amarillo, TX. The car would just shutdown while driving, and then kick back in and take off. Started calling around, looking for someone who could work on our Porsche Cayenne. We got referred to Panhandle Eurotech and got Mark on the phone. I told him about the engine check light and we tried a couple of remedies, but nothing worked. It got so bad so I pulled over on I40. We got AAA to tow us to the shop. They cleared the codes and spent allot of time trying to make it fail again. Long story short, they knew we would be continuing across country, they didn't take advantage of us and gave us a reasonable estimate. I'm not the kind of person to typically leave negative reviews and try to see the positive side of any business but I had the absolute worst experience with this mechanic. Im leaving 3 stars instead of 1 because I actually feel bad smearing a local business but I will not be returning to eurotech for my car or my business. If I say anything good worth the 3 stars, they were all very nice people. I had a coolant leak in my BMW, told them it was my only vehicle and I'd be ubering to work until it was fixed. IT TOOK THEM 4 days to find the leak (it was in the pump, even someone with out car knowledge knows first you check the radiator for holes then the water pump). It should literally only take an hour or two to find a coolant leak. If they were too busy and just waited 4 days to look at my car then they should have told me to take it else where especially when I told them it was my only vehicle and only mode of transportation. THEN they gave me the bill, $1600 to replace a water pump and thermometer. A quick google search shows a water pump and thermometer replacement with labor should cost between 600-900 for pump and 200-350 for thermostat if you billed separately, so they were nearly 400 over the high end of what it should cost. I called and complained and I got the whole "this isn't comparing apples to apples" line, when it was exactly the same thing. When i got the itemized bill they charged higher than the highest quotes for the parts (water pump and thermometer) and charged nearly double for labor, AND didn't take off the diagnostic charge (any decent mechanic removes the diagnostic fee if you use them for the repairs). At this point i would have taken it else where if I had another vehicle and time. THEN to add insult to injury less than a week later a hose clamp comes off and I'm spewing coolant all over my garage. When I take it back to eurotech they say it's coincidence but they'll pay to replace the clamp. I actually had been driving a truck to work (took them so long I had to find another vehicle to get to work) and the car literally popped off the clamp the first time I drove it.WHAAAAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME Updated review changed to 5 stars. A few months after the initial incident had a coil go out. Again in Amarillo you have two choices, bmw or panhandle eurotech. I went to bmw and they said it would be 4 days before they could even see me. So reluctantly I went back to panhandle eurotech but I'm glad I did. They had saved notes on my prior incident and were very forthcoming about making up for it. They quoted me the exact time to get the job done and stuck to it instead of leaving me hanging. Quote for replacing the coil was very reasonable, then when my wife went to pay they comped the bill and didn't charge a thing. I've changed the review from 3 to 5 stars because they went over and beyond to right a wrong. I'll be using panhandle eurotech for all my repairs from now on. read more

I own a classic 1975 BMW 2002 that I drove coast to coast. The car is a lot of fun to drive and it performed flawlessly other than an oil filter that may not have been installed correctly. On the journey back from Florida, I began to note irregular problems with the starter. With the help of kind strangers, I managed to get from New Orleans to Amarillo, Texas, yesterday by popping the clutch after a helpful push or a downhill drift. By the time I arrived in Amarillo I also had difficulty shifting gears. After checking into a hotel and getting some much needed sleep, I attempted to pop the clutch to start the car early this morning, but I could not get the transmission into first gear. Based on the research I did, I had AAA tow the car to Panhandle Eurotech after a brief conversation with one of the owners, Chris. I told Chris that I was certain that the starter was bad. I also told him about the difficulty shifting gears. Chris said he would look the car over and get back to me soon as he was aware that I was anxious to return to northern California. He had Trevor, his quality assurance staffer, drive me back to my hotel. About an hour later I got a call from Chris. His initial diagnosis was that the starter was fine after tightening connections. He also explained that an oil change was necessary because the filter was ruined. As to the clutch, Chris had not driven the car yet to have a more informed view. I okayed the oil change and encouraged Chris to drive the car. Later today Chris explained that the problem shifting was due to either a faulty master cylinder or slave. It would take three days to get the parts in. I did not want to wait. Chris explained that it was possible that the work he did would get me back to California, but he also said it was unpredictable and it was possible that the problem could recur sooner. I appreciate the time Chris took to explain the risk as well as his efforts to quickly get me back on the road. One other unique experience for me was the role of the quality assurance staffer. Before I was contacted to pick up the car, Trevor made sure that the problems I noted as well as his own check list were addressed. In that process additional fine tuning was done. What I will note is that shifting is much smoother. In addition, the heat and vent controls are functioning much better. Before handing the keys to the car back to me, Chris explained the work he did and then showed me how he wanted me to check the oil filter while on the road. I did not mention to Chris the previous incident with a failed filter until then. Chris pointed out the potential causes and emphasized the importance of checking the filter with every gas fill. He even had rags and rubber gloves given to me to make it easier. The trip continues at 6am tomorrow. January 17, 2016: I arrived home to northern California on Thursday the 14th as originally planned. Halfway during the 9 hour drive from Amarillo to Texas the difficulty shifting began to recur. A Yelp search of Flagstaff vintage BMW mechanics led me to call Ken's Import Service. I told them that I was on my way from Amarillo and would arrive just before they closed for the day. I shared Chris' diagnosis and an emergency overnight order of the clutch slave cylinder was completed after verification that the cylinder was leaking. The part arrived the next day, was installed, and I left for California the following morning. I did stop at the Grand Canyon first, meaning another 15 hour drive to test the car as well as my judgement. Chris called me on Friday and asked me about the journey. I told him that his diagnosis was spot on as were his concerns about when the problems with the clutch would recur. I appreciate Chris' follow-up and concern and I thanked him. If his shop was in California I would be a regular customer. The money he saved me by not having to purchase a remanufactured starter and installation paid for the diagnostics, oil change, and bleeding of the clutch. By putting the risk I was taking in continuing to Flagstaff in context, I was able to develop a contingency plan that saved me another day of travel time. I am a very satisfied customer. The follow-up call was a complete surprise, but is an indication of how thorough Panhandle Eurotech Automotive is. Beyond that, I was impressed by Chris' knowledge of the more than 40 year old E10 series given how young he is. A 2002tii (a rare and desirable BMW) was parked in front of the shop when I arrived. Chris explained that there are a healthy number of the cars in Amarillo. The 02 (and probably all import) owners in Amarillo are fortunate to have such a resource. Chris also had a set of recommendations that I intend to pursue. I want to drive this car its next 40 years. read more

We were traveling to Denver on a last minute trip from Austin and we tried to get an oil change in Austin before the trip. Unfortunately after trying 4 different places - we were forced to leave without the work being done. We were planning to stop half-way in Amarillo and decided to try out luck there. I found Panhandle Eurotech and was able to make an appointment for first thing the next morning. When I arrived in the morning they were clearly doing well as they had a full shop. I explained my situation and they promised to do what they could to get us going as quickly as possible.
