Terrible experience. I went out with a group of friends and everyone got their food except me. They literally wrote my order down in front of me and still somehow forgot it. When I asked, they said it would be out in 10 minutes -- yet I sat there for nearly an hour and a half with no food, no apology, and no effort to make it right. The staff barely checked on me and handled the situation completely unprofessionally. Great looking patio. Lots of outdoor seating. Beautiful day. We got seated and then after waiting for a bit had to ask if our server was available. Oddest thing was a customer trimming the hydrangeas and taking a couple of bags of all the stems. No one seemed to care. In fact the employees gave them bags to put in. On to the food. Once we finally were able to order a beer and get some food it didn't get much better. For a place called Panini's the grilled cheese had what appeared a single slice of cheese with Texas toast sized bread. It was pretty dry. The wife was okay with her wrap. Id suggest shrinking the menu down. Focus on service to make sure people who are seated aren't waiting over 10 minutes for someone to come by. I get the times now. Stopped here a couple times when visiting friends in Kent. This wasn't here when I attended college in the 80s and 90s. The bar has not much personality but it's basically a sports bar. They used to be this little hole in the wall down the road which was fun but they've grown and they have this patio which seems pretty popular and actually it's pretty nice. The food is OK, some of it is pretty good but it's not fabulous. It's good if you're drinking. The bartender was nice enough but was busy on her phone and chatting with some of her friends most of the time and she got our drinks wrong about 30% of the time. The staff that work there seem to be going through the motions and did not seem at all happy to be working. I mean I get it that it's Covid and things suck but if you are going to bother to go to work you should probably carry a good attitude with you in my opinion. Working in a bar is certainly better than working in a factory. I will probably come back just because it's convenient and they have food and drinks and plenty of seating inside and out. read more

I can't go less than 1 star. Ultra slow service coupled with bad food. I ordered a mobster and didn't get it for over an hour. The other people in my group all got their food before I did and just wanted to leave because it was so slow. The bill was wrong. The pizza I got was burned and had jalapenos on it I didn't want. I'd been wanting to go to Panini's to eat all summer just so we could enjoy a meal in their patio area. When the weather is beautiful We love to eat outdoors. Well, we walk in, stop at the desk to get seated, the hostess is sitting there on her phone. She did not acknowledge us what so ever, so my husband asked her if we could be seated in the patio, she looks up from her phone and says, "we aren't seating in the patio tonight". When asked why, she said, "well it was raining soooo". But you can sit at the bar in the patio area (which is enclosed). The weather was gorgeous, cloudy, but 75 degrees, and I swear the inside of the restaurant was 40 degrees. No way did I want to sit inside and freeze my *** off. We left, so disappointed in Panini's, we enjoy their atmosphere on the patio. Guess we will wait for a sunny day. read more

The staff could care less about you and the food is inconsistent. after many visits I've come to the conclusion that you should dine here at your own risk. Second visit to this place hoping that the horrible service from last time was a fluke. Unfortunately it wasn't. Service today was worse than the last time. It took 15 minutes to be noticed and be seated. Another few minutes to order drinks and about 15 minutes to get simple drinks for 4. Our waitress kept disappearing and we had to have the bar staff go find her. We ordered food but after 30 minutes it still didn't arrive. Waitress missing again. Asked a male bartender wearing a bandanna for help to just check out and instead he offered everyone free alcohol. We declined as there were underage people in our party. It took another 10 minutes to get the check and the waitress vanished again. The female bartender was the only employee working worthwhile and it seemed she was overwhelmed. The TVs all had 1 of 4 choices and the rest were channels that didn't stay tuned. The music was excruciatingly loud to the point you couldn't hear conversations. Dirty silverware on the floor and bathrooms without soap or paper towels was the final straw. We're never coming back and sad we wasted almost two hours of our evening for watered down flat drinks and awful service. This place literally sucks. read more

I came here for a small snack and drink while out with my roommate waiting for her dog at the groomers. We were quickly seated outside at a patio table and brought menus. They didn't have a draft list as they were printing new ones. But Kennedy was very sweet and read the list each time we asked. I ordered a basket of fries and my roommate got the pretzel and cheese. The fries were only $5 and was quite the large portion. The pretzel is usually $8 I believe but it turned out to be happy hour and the pretzel was also only $5. The draft selection was pretty good and had a nice mix of local and domestic drafts and things from lagers to sours to ipas and more. Food came out in a timely manner and the drinks were good. This place is absolutely terrible. I have been here twice, and all I have gotten (at best) is mediocrity in both their food and their general atmosphere. I originally hadn't planned on ever writing a review, as I had wanted to just move on from it, but I decided to give it another try, when forced to go here with my family for dinner tonight. I ordered the pizza, a standard thing that most restaurants can't mess up too easily, and it ended up tasting worse than the pizza at Rosie's on Kent Campus. I allowed everyone else (5 other people) try the pizza, and they all said it was absolutely terrible. Half of the table weren't too favorable of any of their dishes, so we feel like we paid a lot for almost nothing. Then, as me and my friend were exiting, we were going through the back of the patio. One of the kitchen workers comes out of the door and says "Have a good one guys". Neither of us respond because we're just leaving from a rather terrible experience, and we're both also talking. He takes the liberty to say "Really? After I just made your food?" and then begins to blabber on rudely about us while we are walking away out of earshot. The only redeeming quality about this place is the little gay waiter that we had. He took the Pizza off of the check and was very kind to us. I used to work in Kent, so I've been to Panini's a number of times. It's pretty much exactly what one would expect from a sports bar chain. Decent selection of beers, lots of TVs and menu with a wide variety of things one might crave. Quality of menu items varies -- you're best to stick with bar food basics and avoid anything that should require inspiration to be good. That said, it's telling to pull this place up on Yelp and see not a single review above 3 stars, and not a single response from management. This kind of presentation leads potential customers to surmise that either the place is going downhill, or management simply doesn't care. Neither of which is good. Nutshell version: Go knowing that your mileage may vary. Keep expectations low and you might be pleasantly surprised -- but if you go in expecting a terrific experience, you're likely to leave unimpressed. read more

However, once seated we ordered quickly knowing our son had plans to meet friends for his birthday. 45 minutes later we asked how long for the food and was told there were 3-4 orders ahead of us. We left the restaurant ruining my son's birthday as we were there so long he could no longer meet up with friends. Horrible service! And can't imagine the food would have been very good either. If I could leave a no star review, I would. Tonight I was dumbfounded by the lack of respect and absolute audacity displayed by the workers. I understand it's graduation night. My party of 9 went in knowing that it would take some time to get our food so we patiently waited. It took 10 minutes to get our drink order and another 15 to physically receive them. The waitress expressed that the wait was due to the lack of clean available cups. We received our drinks, and the sodas were flat. It took another 10 minutes to place our order which consisted of 2 desserts, two appetizers, an order of 6 wings and an extra order of fries. We did not see our waitress at our table for another hour or so and only the two desserts were delivered. 4 people in the party had left by this time. The chicken quesadilla was cold and had no chicken in it. The cheese was chalky and not melted. We did not see our waitress for another ten minutes. We sent the quesadilla back and someone from our party went up to the manager, Josh, -who had been taking shots and talking with customers the whole time- and his only solution was to take the food and soda off the bill and offer the table a round of shots. We ended up paying $31 for 3 alcoholic drinks that we ordered. The table next to us, a family of 6, ended up leaving as they had not received any food either, despite being there for over an hour. Needless to say I, nor any else in my party, will ever take our service to panini's again. read more

I tried the pickle without it and it tasted of absolutely nothing. Approximately 12 pickle chips. Then ordered fish tacos. Pretty decent, fried to shit. Very tiny tacos. I almost Thought I had ordered off the kids menu or value menu at this point. Then the fries. Good god the fries. Saltier than black mold infested in the sinks. All fries were about an inch in length at most. Very dark. Ranch was rubish. On the upperhand this may be the only restaurant in America that actually goes by nutritional servings sizes I guess. Good food if you cannot taste anything. My buddy and I started off my getting the fried pickles chips...we got 8 chips at most. And iceberg lettuce as a cute little garnish. For my order I got the wings, it was like eating beef jerky and the fries were super salty. Staff was friendly but the food was bad(even if you were drunk). Came in with a small party on an event-filled Saturday afternoon. Downtown Kent was full of people and the fact that only about 20% of the tables in this place were occupied should have been a clue to walk away, but we've eaten at other Panini's locations in the past, so... The hostess took us to our table and it was filthy. There were crumbs and dried sauce spots and yet it was set with the usual silverware wrapped in a napkin at each seat. When I asked if we could get the table cleaned up the server apologized and halfheartedly wiped the crumbs away. I noticed several other tables around us that were also set and crumb-covered. Again, we probably should have just left but I thought "They aren't very busy, at least we will get our food quickly." So we ordered. Note: for people who are looking for fish, they used to have a tuna panini, but as far as I could see the only option now is the fish tacos. We waited for 25 minutes which might not be out of line if the place was filled to capacity, but this was not the case. I ordered a wrap with pub chips and got french fries. The server offered to take it back, but at that point I didn't want to wait again. We did have to ask her to get some 1000 Island for a Reuben which for some reason arrived with no dressing on the sandwich or on the side. The fries were limp and flavorless. Quality control is what keeps a restaurant chain in business and this Panini's location is seriously lacking. I'm not looking for haute cuisine, I just a expect a decent meal at a clean table. Panini's is one of the only chain restaurants in downtown Kent. They offer consistent, yet average food. It's not bad, it just could be better. Their stuffed sandwiches have very little meat and a lot of fries, making them very dry. They do Have good wings with a decent assortment of sauces. While the food is average, their patio is great! If you are looking for a good place to sit outside and people watch, this is a good spot. They do also air most major sporting events, including UFC fights, but if you plan on attending a huge event, get tickets in advance, they sell out quickly. read more
