I'd say the macaroni was probably the best food item ordered. What really made the experience unpleasant was a very off color comment our server made about bipolar disorder. Bad food, worse service. November 17, 6 PM. Several problems. One, green chunks of cucumber or broccoli got into my macaroni and it gagged me until I realized what was happening. 2, My brisket was served cold and really not that tender. Thirdly, we waited a way too long for this food. I complained that night about my slow service, cold brisket, and green chunks of something in my macaroni. The hostess' response was, "we don't have a manager." A woman did show up, I calmly and politely introduced myself but she did not give me her name. I told her what was happening and she had a *deer in the headlights look the whole time.* She offered to replace my meal. I said "no, I ate it, but maybe you could do something for me." 20 minutes later she comped me half the price of my meal since I did eat it. But then my wife got sick all the next day, a horrible case of upset stomach. She had the ribs, succotash, and potatoes. Plastic where the legs sort of stuck to the cement so if you shifted your weight at times the legs would hop. Food was Amazing! Initially we were only getting an appetizer until we read the menu. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted by the Hostess and within ten minutes we were seated as they were busy . Once seated we were quickly and pleasantly greeted by our waitress, Erica . She took our drink orders and quickly returned with the Beverages. Erica then took our order for appetizers. We had ordered the Mussels which were delivered quickly to our table which were hot and deliciously prepared ! Erica then took our entree orders . I ordered the smoked meat pick two which I had chosen Ribs and the Beef Brisket . My Wife and Daughter both ordered the Blackened Salmon! Our entrees also arrived quickly and were hot and deliciously prepared . My smoked meats were tender lean and well seasoned and had the right amount of smoke ! The ladies stated that their entrees were served hot , and prepared as ordered and seasoned just right . Overall the food was very good and prepared as ordered , The service was excellent Erica , was extremely busy and still provided friendly, efficient service and is a definite asset to this establishment! Ate here on New Year's Eve. Made Reservation. It was terrible. We cannot stop talking about how bad it was. We got there and we were seated. Ordered drinks and it took 20-30mins to get them. We put in for chips and queso that took 35 mins to come out and it should have been the first sign for us to leave. The place was practically empty. We then got our food. My sister in laws cat fish was undercooked. Shrimp was okay but the grits were bad- congealed and cold. It felt like everything was under a heat lamp. We got onion rings AFTER our meal was done and finished. Our waiter was kind but also not surprised when my SIL pointed out how undercooked the catfish was. She did say that she forgot my SIL drink. Just all around bad. We did tell the waitress and the manager comped the catfish. And then when we told them we wouldn't pay for the onion rings she took off those and something else. Visit Date: October 28, 2025 If I could give zero stars, I would. I've never experienced such a mix of disorganization, lack of communication, and absence of empathy from a restaurant. I called ahead at 6:09 PM to confirm they had beef brisket. The person on the phone confirmed it was available, said I could order a 1 lb portion plus a side order, and quoted a price around $25 for the pound. I placed the order and was told it would be ready in about 20-25 minutes. I arrived early around 6:15 PM, paid at the hostess stand, and waited. The hostess disappeared and no one came back to update me. At 6:35 PM, I was still waiting -- no food, no communication, nothing. Finally, at 6:41 PM, a manager appeared to tell me that they were actually out of brisket and could only fulfill the small side order. How does a restaurant not check inventory before taking and charging for an order? How does no one update the customer for 30 minutes? And why did it take me asking twice before anyone even looked into what was happening? What's worse, the manager initially only offered to refund the missing portion -- not the full order -- as if waiting nearly half an hour for something they couldn't even fulfill wasn't enough. This experience showed zero empathy, zero accountability, and zero sense of urgency. We were left scrambling to find dinner elsewhere. Oak & Embers needs to seriously retrain their team on communication, follow-up, and how to treat paying customers with basic respect. read more

The hostess sat us, but no one acknowledged us or brought us water for 10 minutes. The food arrived and it was fine. But she never came back to check for water or drink refills. I had to flag her down for our check so we could leave on time to make our event. When I said, I was disappointed in the service and our drinks weren't refilled, she said "sorry," she was busy taking reservations because it was a game night and starting to get busy....,. Blah! Blah! My opinion, as one of the "managers" she should have assigned someone else to service tables then. The final issue was, when our check came, there was a $2.95 credit card charge I told her to take it off because I was paying cash. I was owed &10.05 and she just brought back a ten. Why get upset over a nickel? The point is, she was "too busy" to get the exact change. We looked up on Ohios FLSA and managers don't get tipped. There you go! We got the sense, everyone hates their job. ( Except the guy who was trying to trip his coworkers.) There were multiple servers in our area so coverage was great and they helped any table, not just their assigned ones. Good service. The plates were delicious and large portioned. I'm not partial to their specific bbq sauce cuz it was a little overpowering to the meat so I'd definitely suggest asking for the sauce to be on the side or just less if it needs to be on the meats you order. Ask for Anthony. He was our server tonight and he was extremely kind and patient and accommodating towards us. We got a full rack of ribs to split and two halves came out. One half was great and had excellent smoking and flavor and tenderness. Highly recommend. However the other Half of our order of ribs was extremely dry and tough. We let Anthony know and he was so kind to help us. We got a new slab to replace the bad one and it was fantastic. Ambiance was solid too. Clean seating and floors. Liked the feel of the place. We are moving from TN to Hudson. My wife and I stopped in at 6 pm on a Friday for the first time. We sat at the bar. We waited over 30min to get a drink and had to flag down the bartender. An hour and half later, it had slowed down and the bar was only half full. She never came back around to ask if we needed anything. We were there over 2 hrs and only got one drink, and no water.
