lomo i ordered and felt gross after witnessing bc who knows what else they do in that kitchen

I was honestly disgusted by what I saw here. An employee took the same garbage bin used for trash collection, brought it into the kitchen area, rinsed and cleaned it in the industrial kitchen sink, and dumped the dirty garbage water directly into the same sink where dishes and kitchen items were being washed. It was incredibly unsanitary and completely unacceptable for a restaurant environment. Seeing trash residue handled in the same area used for food service and dishwashing made me seriously question the cleanliness and health standards of this place. I will not be returning.

If you come here for just one thing, make it the grilled octopus!!! It's grilled to perfection and so tender and flavorful & smoky. The ceviche was also very good. Also ordered the lomo with risotto but it was under done and a bit salty. Their drinks were good too. The margarita was prob my favorite Very good service and nice ambiance

Stopped in before a show at The Capitol. Right from the chips and salsa they put on the table the food was delicious. We hardly every order dessert but the food was that good that we had to. Both of us had one of the steak dishes and they were cooked perfectly. I also had a white sangria that was one of the best I've had in a while. Atmosphere was nice, not too loud and the service was good. We'd definitely come back if up this way again.

Not really accustomed with Peruvian cuisine. Not too much of a choice in walking distance to the capitol theater in Port Chester. Good tortillas and sauce put on table Entrees_ mine was Jalea special which was a variety of fried fish - calamari, possibly pieces of cod or flounder, a couple of muscles and crab covered in onions. Besides the onions it was kind of bland but enough for 2 people. My friends dish -pan seared mahi mahi she thought was very good. My favorite was the tres leches cake and my friend had flan. Prices were reasonable. Parking is difficult but there's metered spots and more of them if there's no concert on that night !

Just a stones throw up the street from the Capital Theater, this cozy restaurant serves up some of the best Peruvian food in the area! We stared out with some homemade sangria and local Peruvian Beers. Don't skip on some of the good Pisco drinks though. Those who read my reviews know I don't skip on the octopus and don't do that here! Great toppings on this for sure! The Ceviche was fresh and delicious. I went for the 1/2 rotisserie chicken wanting to "eat lighter" this night. The staff was friendly with great suggestions and menu's are fully updated and given to you on a tablet. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

We were three for dinner in the middle of the week. As one who has actually been to Perù, this was disappointing. Especially since there is a Pollo a la brasa next door. Should've gone there. The ceviche was ok. The Lomo Saltado was ok. We tried three desserts: flan, tres leches cake and crème brûlée. All ok. It was fine. But nothing worth driving 25 minutes to get to. Maybe it was an off night. I'll keep an open mind.

Stopped here before show at Capitol theatre just a couple of blocks away. We arrived at 6 and it was empty but completely full by the time we left. Attractively decorated for Halloween made it fun. Friendly, efficient staff. Noise level good. Served complimentary warm chips with a spicy green sauce. Addictive. Menu with lots of choices including vegetarian, rotisserie chicken, ceviche, and steaks. Servings very generous and attractively presented. Food excellent. Able to sub very nice vegetables for fries. Full bar.

Delicious and authentic Peruvian food and cocktails. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and the location was perfect for dinner before seeing a show at the Capitol Theater.

Panka in Port Chester is a an okay Peruvian restaurant. The food is decent and are large portions. The drinks need work. The service could be hit or miss. I came here with my girlfriend on a cold, weekday evening for a casual dinner. When we walked in, the restaurant was pretty empty apart from two parties that were dining there as well. When we were seated, we were brought to a table that was right near the door. We asked if we could be seated at a table further from the door, because we did not want to be cold whenever a patron would come in and open the door. However, they said that the table by the door was the only available table, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered three different drinks. Most of the drinks on their menu are pisco-based. Pisco is a type of liquor that works well in different cocktails, depending on how well it is mixed into the drinks. However, the drinks here were overpowered with pisco, which is fine, but that is not my personal preference. It is because of the over-powering pisco, that we did not enjoy our drinks as much as we would have hoped. As an appetizer, we ordered the papitas rellenas and they were phenomenal. Papitas rellenas are seasoned ground beef stuffed into a deep-fried potato covering. The outside was nice and crispy, while the texture of the potato inside was soft and fluffy. I loved the textures and the flavor of it all. If you combine the potato ball with the sauce that was served underneath it and with some of the red onions, the flavors are enhanced even more. This appetizer was phenomenal and definitely worth ordering. For main courses, we ordered a traditional lomo saltado and lomo saltado with risotto. The portion sizes were quite large. Between these two dishes, the classic lomo saltado is the winner. The classic lomo saltado tasted great. The lomo saltado with risotto is a dish that I will avoid in the future. The lomo saltado portion was fine and even the creamy risotto was fine. However, these two items together clash and do not combine well. The runny broth of the beef and the creaminess of the risotto together did not blend well, in my opinion. For dessert we had the tiramisu. The tiramisu here was not bad, but it was not memorable. It was a pretty simple tiramisu and there is nothing wrong with that. Overall, I would give Panka another chance. Next time I come back, I would like to taste the different ceviches that they offer.

It had been years since my last visit, so it felt like a brand-new experience. I made a reservation online, though it wasn't really necessary that evening. Still, it's a plus that you can easily choose between indoor and outdoor seating when booking. Parking in their onsite lot is another convenience. The restaurant has a cozy, intimate feel, and there's a small bar that offers a happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 4-7 PM. We started with cocktails: a refreshing white sangria with mango and a mojito. Both were well-made and reasonably priced--$7 and $8. For appetizers, we had the coconut shrimp served over sliced plantains with a lemongrass sauce. The flavors were good, but the shrimp were noticeably over-fried (see my video), which took away from what could have been a standout dish. Sonora's menu offers a diverse Latin-inspired selection with dishes from South America, Cuba, Mexico, Portugal, and Puerto Rico. I was intrigued by the variety. I chose a Cuban-inspired dish: Angus skirt steak served with lobster and plantain fried rice and topped with a quail egg saffron lime garlic mojito sauce. The steak was tender and cooked to order, but the fried rice was underwhelming--just a hint of lobster flavor with only a few tiny pieces of lobster. The quail egg was nicely done. My friend ordered a Colombian dish: chicken stuffed with sweet plantain, goat cheese, peppers, and chorizo, served with saffron mashed potatoes and a sweet sherry sauce. She loved it and said the portion size was generous--I passed on a taste but took her word for it! They also offer brunch, jazz nights, and a paella night, which I'd love to check out in the future. I'll definitely return when the weather is warmer to enjoy their outdoor seating.

Whenever I had meetings at our NYC office, I'd grab a seat at the bar there just to see what was new on the seasonal menu. So, when I heard he was bringing his culinary brilliance to Greenwich Avenue, I was ecstatic. Happy Monkey definitely lives up to the hype, but with a totally different energy. It's a "fun-loving Latin restaurant," and the vibe is spot on--bright, laid-back, and stylish without being stuffy. The black and white tiled floors and all the lanterns and plants hanging from the ceiling give it a really cool, relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. The bar program is solid. They have a full selection, but the margaritas and sangria seemed to be the move for most tables. As for the food, it was incredible. Here's the breakdown: * Arroz con Pollo: This is the absolute "must-have" dish. Just a heads up: it takes about 30 minutes to cook, so give yourself at least an hour for the full experience. It is well worth the wait. * Sizzling Shrimp with Garlic: Exactly what you want it to be--fragrant, buttery, and delicious. * Organic Chipotle Chicken Tacos: Super fresh and had that signature Jean-Georges "pop" of flavor. * Crispy Calamari: Perfectly fried and a great way to kick off the meal. You can really feel the JG influence here--everything feels lighter and more vibrant than your typical heavy Latin fare. It's great to finally have this level of cooking right here in Greenwich. Whether you're a longtime fan of his NYC spots or just looking for a great new dinner hang, this place is a win.

I suppose it's a pro that it's never been hard to get into, but maybe this spot hasn't quite found its groove yet. As a frequenter of Matador Room in Miami, I see a lot of similarities on the menu (and some of the same dishes, and the overall vibe) which make it that much easier to get food that brings me to Miami without actually having to go there. Namely -- the hot sauce on every table (not a "food" but integral to the JG experience), the ginger margarita (liquids are food), the maitake mushroom, the sweet pea guac, and the always amazing Arroz con Pollo. I'm sure there is more, but this is what stands out to me. So for starters, any of those are fantastic choices. We recently went for brunch and added the tuna tartare, a few salads, a burger, and the baked eggs to the list. My only caution, and I say this with deep regret, is that the baked eggs are VERY baked. I was imaging something more like a loose bake, shakshouka style, but I clearly did not read the menu very hard. We capped it all off with the tres leches (YES) and the Mexican chocolate pudding. Drink the drinks, eat the rice, and put the bright orange hot sauce on everything. Yes, it's not cheap, but what else did you expect in Greenwich?

She got bread rolls with butter, which was really good as the bread was nice and warm. It wasn't microwaved warm as when the bread got cool it didn't transform back into playdough. From ordering to food on the table was around 15 minutes. It wasn't busy, about 5 other patrons. Steak came out and it was seasoned just right with a nice salad right on the plate along with white rice.
