I had lunch here today after the rush was done, as a Peruvian guy at a local construction site recommended it. Honestly the place is GOOD. I got a combo of chicken and papa a la huancaina and salad. It came with a side salad, too, so I definitely got my fill of roughage today! I like their salad dressing. The cheese sauce on the papa a la huancaina was great, and I loved the chicken. It all wasn't necessarily so much better than other places I've been to in NYC, but the server was nice, really on top of things, and the place was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Chips and salsa (5/5): My mouth is feeling a tingle from the salsa and I'm not mad. The flavor is rich and developed and they bring this to your table to kick off the meal. The chips are thin and crispy! Pisco Sour (4/5): This drink is the national beverage of Peru and is a must-have for all when enjoying Peruvian cuisine. I found this version a bit sweeter than sour from what I remember from my trip, but it was very tasty! Lomo Saltado (4/5): The steak is slightly over but every other aspect of this dish is perfectly brought together. The fry wedges are nicely crisped and the bottom of the rice absorbed that wonderful saucy flavor from the dish. Ceviche Frutos Del Mar (5/5): This dish has everything. Beautiful umami flavor, several fish, and a stunning presentation! My only ask would be to deshell the shrimp but otherwise perfect. It even comes with some sweet potato! Maduros (4/5): Lovely sweet flavor but I wish it was fried for another 60 seconds of crispiness. Service (5/5): Very attentive servers and delivered on every aspect expected. From the outside as it sits on a busy corner of Westchester Avenue and when you go in, it's a whole different world very simple very sheek the staff was very helpful and always with a smile and very sweet very kind and sincere the food like I said for the first time trying it was amazing. I was honestly disgusted by what I saw here. An employee took the same garbage bin used for trash collection, brought it into the kitchen area, rinsed and cleaned it in the industrial kitchen sink, and dumped the dirty garbage water directly into the same sink where dishes and kitchen items were being washed. It was incredibly unsanitary and completely unacceptable for a restaurant environment. Seeing trash residue handled in the same area used for food service and dishwashing made me seriously question the cleanliness and health standards of this place. I will not be returning. read more

Not really accustomed with Peruvian cuisine. Not too much of a choice in walking distance to the capitol theater in Port Chester. Good tortillas and sauce put on table Entrees_ mine was Jalea special which was a variety of fried fish - calamari, possibly pieces of cod or flounder, a couple of muscles and crab covered in onions. Besides the onions it was kind of bland but enough for 2 people. My friends dish -pan seared mahi mahi she thought was very good. My favorite was the tres leches cake and my friend had flan. Prices were reasonable. Parking is difficult but there's metered spots and more of them if there's no concert on that night ! read more

We went to eat here before a show at the theater next door. We sat at the bar and ordered 2 drinks and some food to share. The waitress repeated our order to us and it was correct when she repeated it. But, when our steak came out it was steak tips and not the ribeye that we ordered. Also, we ordered the steak cooked MED and the steak tips were well done. The drinks were overly sweet and not much alcohol in them. I would have given this place 3 stars considering the food wasn't horrible but I didn't because when we went to pay the check I noticed they secretly added a 20% gratuity for themselves without telling us about it. And there was also the normal additional option for adding the gratuity on the bottom of the check. If I didn't look through the entire bill then we would have tipped them twice. Please make sure you check the entire bill before paying!!! It didn't say that the gratuity would be included anywhere and there was only two of us which normally restaurants don't add gratuities for less than a group of 6 ppl. Just a stones throw up the street from the Capital Theater, this cozy restaurant serves up some of the best Peruvian food in the area! We stared out with some homemade sangria and local Peruvian Beers. Don't skip on some of the good Pisco drinks though. Those who read my reviews know I don't skip on the octopus and don't do that here! Great toppings on this for sure! The Ceviche was fresh and delicious. I went for the 1/2 rotisserie chicken wanting to "eat lighter" this night. The staff was friendly with great suggestions and menu's are fully updated and given to you on a tablet. The ceviche was ok. The Lomo Saltado was ok. We tried three desserts: flan, tres leches cake and crème brûlée. All ok. It was fine. But nothing worth driving 25 minutes to get to. We heard this restaurant had excellent Peruvian food. My husband is Peruvian, so we eat it out often. We started with the mussels which were very good. I had the paella and the fish was rubbery. My husband had the ceviche and it was okay. The waitress was arguing with our friend over what he asked for versus what she brought. Panka in Port Chester is a an okay Peruvian restaurant. The food is decent and are large portions. The drinks need work. The service could be hit or miss. I came here with my girlfriend on a cold, weekday evening for a casual dinner. When we walked in, the restaurant was pretty empty apart from two parties that were dining there as well. When we were seated, we were brought to a table that was right near the door. We asked if we could be seated at a table further from the door, because we did not want to be cold whenever a patron would come in and open the door. However, they said that the table by the door was the only available table, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered three different drinks. Most of the drinks on their menu are pisco-based. Pisco is a type of liquor that works well in different cocktails, depending on how well it is mixed into the drinks. However, the drinks here were overpowered with pisco, which is fine, but that is not my personal preference. It is because of the over-powering pisco, that we did not enjoy our drinks as much as we would have hoped. As an appetizer, we ordered the papitas rellenas and they were phenomenal. Papitas rellenas are seasoned ground beef stuffed into a deep-fried potato covering. The outside was nice and crispy, while the texture of the potato inside was soft and fluffy. I loved the textures and the flavor of it all. If you combine the potato ball with the sauce that was served underneath it and with some of the red onions, the flavors are enhanced even more. This appetizer was phenomenal and definitely worth ordering. For main courses, we ordered a traditional lomo saltado and lomo saltado with risotto. The portion sizes were quite large. Between these two dishes, the classic lomo saltado is the winner. The classic lomo saltado tasted great. The lomo saltado with risotto is a dish that I will avoid in the future. The lomo saltado portion was fine and even the creamy risotto was fine. However, these two items together clash and do not combine well. The runny broth of the beef and the creaminess of the risotto together did not blend well, in my opinion. For dessert we had the tiramisu. The tiramisu here was not bad, but it was not memorable. It was a pretty simple tiramisu and there is nothing wrong with that. Overall, I would give Panka another chance. Next time I come back, I would like to taste the different ceviches that they offer. read more

The place was pretty busy on Sunday evening. The counter in the back gives me a bit of modern food court atmosphere. The restaurant is clean and has a good ambience. Their ceviche appetizer is a little different from what we expected it would be. It only comes with 4 bite-size of raw fish and 2 different types of corn. Their seafood risotto for the main dish is made to perfection and my liking. It is creamy yet not too greasy, the flavor is so addictive I want to keep eating it. Amazing Halloween decorations, they went all out with the talking animatronics. This was not our first time here and we came late so it was relatively empty. They now have fancy iPads that show the menu. The food was great. I enjoyed the mushroom dish in my second photo as it was my first time trying it. It would've been great if the steak in the lomo saltado could have been slightly cooked less to be more tender. I came here with hubby by chance. We were in the area, actually wanting to go to a completely different restaurant on the water but the wait was so long so we decided to take a walk and found Panka. It's funny because as soon as we were seated, we received the call that our table was ready at the other place. Needless to say, we decided to stay. We ordered a couple drinks and looked over the menu. We started with the appetizer platter which came with a myriad of goodies for us to try. I have to say that one of my faves was the anticucho skewers, pieces of grilled veal heart that had a much better texture than I would have expected. They weren't too chewy as that type of meat can get and they were seasoned nicely. Included in the platter were empanadas and papas rellenos which were good but I also really enjoyed the causitas. They were creamy and full of flavor. Hubby had some Peruvian styled sliders as his main and I had a small grilled octopus plate. We kept it light with our mains since our appetizer was so huge. The service was very good. They were too packed but there were definitely a good amount of tables as well as folks at the bar. The longer we stayed, the more people kept piling in. There is a theatre down the street and there was a huge event going on this particular day so I'm sure the foot traffic was higher than normal. This is definitely a great date night restaurant. The food is really good and the drinks are strong and interesting. Starter was CHOROS A LA CHALACA, the best! These are mussels!!! It can itself be a meal! very limey, had it done hot that means fresh green chillies has Peruvian corn (chocolo) and other beans its to die for!!!!!! Main courses were Salmon Caliente (an absolute amazement) and a work of art to combine he tastes with beans!!!! Their light green hot sauce is to die for. I was told they sell it as well!
