Absolutely delicious! After watching "Somebody Feed Phil," we couldn't resist trying this place out. Making a reservation through WhatsApp was super easy, and wow, we were not disappointed! We indulged in The King and Kai, and both were absolutely mouthwatering! They accept cash or debit cards (as of Aug 2025)

Worth a visit. Walk-in only from 12-1; we lined up around 11:40 and got in at open. There are only a few tables inside (5?) so try to be early in the queue. You must climb some steep stairs to get to the 2nd floor where the restaurant is. The space feels like a cozy retreat from the bustle outside. We were a party of 2 and had to share a table with another party of 2. They got the Kai (brie, cheese, bacon) and King (strawberries and cream) and liked their orders. My friend and I shared a Miranda (pear, eggnog, chocolate syrup, cream) and a bacon, cheese, and tomato. The eggnog on the Miranda is quite strong, alcohol-wise, so be warned! But it is delicious, especially with the poached pears. The bacon cheese tomato is is ok but not memorable. If you're weighing sweet or savory, I would recommend you go the sweet route with this place. The pancakes themselves are super moist, and thicker than a crepe but much thinner than a regular pancake. I imagine if I ate this repeatedly, the novelty of it would wear off, but it's fun to try once (or a few times). Service is fast-paced and tables turn over quickly as a result. Food arrived in less than 10 mins for us. A group near us left after probably 30 mins total. So definitely not a place to chill for a long time. Overall, a great spot to try the traditional Dutch pancake!

    Lemon sugar and berry pancake

Tried the Brie and bacon pancake, berry pancake and the lemon pancake. A bit sweet so recommend getting the savory and sweet ones. Loved the Brie and bacon one and the lemon sugar! The store is pretty small but has a cute cozy feel. We didn't have reservations but were seated fairly quickly.

this place was planned t take sure we didn't miss it on our girls trip to the Dam. Anthony Bourdain graced this place and touted it as a great meal and it was more reason to come. Made reservations the week in advance as asked. The place is quaint ,cozy, efficient and tasty! A sweet and savory menu to accommodate all tastes! but i did my research bc i know mr bourdain would approve! From being seated to eating was about 20 minutes! so we can walk off the food touring the city! please go and enjoy this meal you won't regret it!

This may be the smallest restaurant I've ever seen, but it was very tasty. The stairs are steep, there's no waiting room, and you need reservations (we had our hotel make these before we arrived in Amsterdam), but it's worth the hassle - we really enjoyed the pancakes, from sweet to savory!

I came here after a recommendation and I am glad I did because the experience was fantastic. I was concerned because they open at 12 pm and I usually don't feel pancakes around then but luckily they had savory pancakes, which were incredible. The batter is the same as the sweet pancakes but it did not feel out of place on my palate at all. They are very thin like crepes but large so the portion is more than enough. I ordered the shredded beef pancake and it was probably the best shredded beef I've had. My partner ordered the bacon, cheese, and ginger pancake, which was delicious as well. The service was great as well and they had a special pancake with special strawberries and the employee sliced them up with some homemade cream for us to try since we did not get the pancake. I would come here every day if I could. Reservations are a must since there are only four tables. Important note: The stairs to the restaurant are small and steep so it may be difficult for handicapped people.

We got super lucky to get the last table available as a walk-in. He told people who came afterwards that he was booked for the next week so get a reservation. This is definitely a unique Dutch experience. These Dutch houses have steep stairs so be forewarned. It's small but beautiful decorated and seems to be a family-owned business. They have an English menu. The Dutch pancakes are ridiculously good. We had savory pancakes but I wish I'd had a sweet one as well but they are too filling. I couldn't even finish the one I had. I chose the Brie & Bacon with honey drizzled on top and it was probably the best meal I have had all trip. Highly recommend this place.

King pancake - fresh strawberries hiding some unfortunate burned areas

If you're looking for a unique spot in Amsterdam to enjoy pancakes, this is your place. It's tiny: only four tables upstairs after you've climbed a precariously narrow staircase. Then you're nestled into a quaint little dining room. Make a reservation if you can. Otherwise you'll have to luck into a table like we did. (The people right behind were told it would be a 90 minute wait -yikes) The pancakes are very large. I had the King: strawberries, powdered sugar and cream. My husband enjoyed his Sufian: bananas, cinnamon, sugar, and cream. The fruit is very fresh and the pancakes are delicious but I was disappointed to find several black burned spots on my King pancake. I'm knocking a star off for what would have otherwise been a perfect experience.

Really hard to get in reservation since they only do day before, and space is tiny. Also is a breakfast pancake place but opens at noon. Cute vibe inside. It's not really pancakes either, it's more crepes with pancake toppings. Overall, it was tasty, but I didn't think it's worth the craziness getting a spot.

Such a hidden gem! Found out about this place when Anthony Bourdain had featured it as one of his fave spots in Amsterdam. Had to try it! This cozy cafe sits only about 8 people total. There are only 4 tables, and you walk up a steep narrow staircase to get to it. Had to call to make reservations way in advance. People came in expecting to be seated, but many were turned down by the host. Loved the decor of the place and the pancakes were delicious!!!! Friendly staff of 1-2 people.

So good!! We got the strawberry and cream and Brie, bacon and honey pancake. My favorite was the strawberry one. It was perfectly balanced. The service was super fast and attentive and I love that it's upstairs where you can look outside to the pretty views. We got to sit by the window and had the flower next to us which was so romantic! The steps are steep.

Yes worth the outstanding reviews! Small place so get a reservation. This little gem was simply outstanding!! My pictures only get me hungry! We are kicking ourselves that we didn't go back!!!!!!!! Food is a 10!! Service a 10!! The space is small but charming! We were blown away by all three options we tasted! Trust in the climb up the stairs to pancake bliss!

The most amazing and unique pancakes! And what a cute little spot that holds about 14 people. Get there when it opens or call them to make reservations. The service was great as well. Don't miss this gem!

We were there the day after Kings day and it was a lovely morning. The weather was cool, but not cold and we were able to enjoy the nice breeze and canal boats passing by. I was also able to connect to the WiFi from the Casino across the river. It was weak, but still worked. We were seated outside and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone came by to take our order for food and drinks. We ordered the banana crepe to share and I got a coffee while my wife ordered the pear juice. The pair juice comes from a bottle. The coffee was served in a small cup and was ok. I am used to drinking it with cream and sweetener. But Europeans don't have these items, so I just drank it with sugar. I think we waited almost 30 minutes before our food came out. Now, we only ordered crepes with bananas inside. Usually at the mall, it takes a few minutes to make crepes. I don't know how it took almost 30 minutes for them to make 1 item. Mind you, the place was not full when we came, so I don't understand how long we had to wait for our server to order our food and why it took so long for them to make our food. Once it finally came out, I thought the crepe was good, but not out of your mind fantastic. It's just basic tbh. Will I ever come back, probably not due to the wait time and the food wasn't all that great.

There's lots of seating and I think the host wasn't really there to seat us but there was a wait to be seated sign. We took a booth by the window. The service was extremely slow and the workers are definitely understaffed here and I don't understand why because there's outside and inside seating and there were only two workers for over 30/40 tables. The Dutch pancakes were the best thing on the menu but I think they just taste like hot cakes with sugar on top- so I didn't find anything super special to ever come back here again.

You see we had the good fortune of befriending Senna who volunteered to serve (in his words) as our "tour guide & waiter." When Senna asked if Dana preferred sweet or savory, she replied (in brilliant fashion), "How about both?" This prompted his face to light up as he told us he had the perfect recommendations. Following his lead we ordered the "Bacon, Apple, and Butter" Pannenkoeken and the "Mixed Fruit and Whipped Cream" Poffertjes. What's amazing to me is that about half way through our meal I noticed that the bottle of syrup on the table hadn't been touched (or even considered). I mean, how could syrup possibly enhance such a wonderful compliment of flavors? No, its inclusion simply wouldn't be tolerated! If you want to blaze your own trail at "De Carrousel" they offer more than 50 options to choose from and I'd recommend sharing a combination of pannenkoeken and poffertjes amongst your party. Be sure to make time to wander around the restaurant a bit. Not only are the center carrousel horses a unique touch, but the kitchen's close proximity to the dining area can make you feel as if you have a role in the preparation of the pannenkoeken and poffertjes! True to his word, Senna provided us with a handwritten, two-sided, list of recommendations that he divided into the categories of "Culture", "Restaurants", and "Date Night." And that's...Henry's Take. #pannenkoeken #poffertjes #dutchhospitality

As the morning clientele began to trickle in, this was reflected in the patrons who were distinctly local and seemed to have a lot of regulars. When creating the Yelp! Entry, their hours also reflected this, as it was basically 9am to about 8pm... or whenever they felt like closing earlier or later; it wasn't a set time. We tried the "Dutch Pancakes" with cheese and ham, which the waitress informed us was a very typical Netherlands pancake. It was quite thin (very much like a crepe), and the toppings fairly nice. I wouldn't call it spectacular, but - tourist alert - I haven't had enough of the local pancakes to make any overall evaluation of its authentic nature. Overall, it's a more than decent restaurant, has the advantage that it's open earlier than other "breakfast" places in the area, and the prices are reasonable.

You get charged more for hot chocolate with the whipped creme, but it was worth it. Service wasn't that quick but appreciate the fact that everything is cooked fresh and so that takes time. I didn't have any experience with Dutch pancakes and so had expected to have lemon rinds or something in mine, so was taken aback when saw the fresh lemon that a friend explained I had to squeeze over the Pancake - it really wasn't what I was expecting. There was also syrup and powdered sugar, so I could put add/ subtract that to my taste levels which I appreciated. All in all, the taste didn't blow me away or anything, so reckon it was a solid 3 for me and oh also really filling without feeling over-full. My other two dining companion's also rated their dishes a solid 3 - did the job of providing sustenance, but nothing really spectacular. Cost was €34 for the three of us, so not too bad price-wise but doubt if will return.
