Everything I got was so tasty and fresh. The service was wonderful. It was my first time and the lady walked me through everything & gave me some yummy recommendations.

Bustlin' in the mornings but line moves quick. On out second visit, we finally tried to dine in. We got their ham and cheese panini (you choose what bread you want and we got the Pao de Agua), beef empanada (which was good!), hot coco and their cappucinno. The sandwich was delicious and fresh. Bread was nicely done and overall everything was simple but worked really well. Empanada had good amount of meat too. Next time i'll try their cheese and the chicken. Hot coco was a tad sweet but the cappuccino was surprisingly good. There was just that "comfortable" taste to it it kinda reminded me of home coffee. And of course we had to take some pastries to go. We got their egg tarts and custard bun (not sure if its the correct name really) and enjoyed every piece! Being in their Bakery made me feel like I went to a mini vacation in Portugal! lol hopefully soon we'll eventually get to visit but Pao Da Terra will suffice for now! lol

After having dinner in Newark with my family we decided to stop for coffee and dessert in a bakery on Ferry St. Pao Da Terra is a fantastic option for breakfast, lunch, or just coffee and a pastry. We tried lots of goodies, natas, bolo de Berlin, orange custard cup, and coffee! All fresh and delicious. I also grabbed some bread and that was fresh and delicious. The coffee was great too, strong and hot. The obvious problem here is parking - we ended up parking two blocks away but it's worth it. It's definitely worse on weekends but the fresh pastries speak for themselves.

In an area of Newark (Ironbound) where coffeeshops are a dime a dozen, this is another great option. It is pretty central in Iron bound located right on Ferry Street about 5 blocks away from Newark Penn. All the Portuguese bakeries in the area serve pretty much the same thing, so it is all about the quality of the bread, pastries, and the barista making your coffee and lattes. Went with the galão, which is Portuguese for latte and some coconut pastries. Pastries were super fresh and most likely made the day of, and the latte came out perfect. They didn't burn my coffee which is always great lol They have an intro room and also a bigger back room with a bit more privacy so seating is not a problem here. Solid choice for coffee and sweets in the Ironbound.

Its bakeries are top notch. I love its portuguese egg tarts. They are wonderful and super tasty. Love to come back to this place again!

Pão da Terra has become one of our favorite bakeries whenever my partner and I are in the Ironbound section of Newark. We stopped by here after having lunch yesterday two blocks away for some Portuguese pastries. Fresh baked bread and a huge choice of pastries are baked using their wooden stove. One should not leave without trying their pastéis de nata (Portuguese egg custard tart) which we got a couple with an apple tart and sugar cinnamon corn muffin top. Their egg tart wasn't too sweet but flavorful. The crust had just the right crunch and chewiness towards bottom center. It may seem a bit intimidating at first since everyone is speaking Portuguese but they do cater to English and Spanish. If you are in the area, grab a few things to take home and you'll be glad you did.

Stopped in here yesterday. Everything was amazing. I got some type of Portugese roll that was off the chain. If I'd have known how good they were, I'd have got a dozen.

Came here in August, curious to compare to my favorited pasteis across the street ;) So0o I got 4 different kinds of treats to try! Pasteis de Belem or what I've heard is also called pastei de nata or also Portugese egg tarts... theirs has a more torched look to it with a gel like shine, but they don't taste burnt at all-- it definitely distinguishes them from their neighbors. It's hard to discern which is better because I have no credential to say haha All I know is that it also is flaky, chewy & has light sweeet soft center. There is also a pastei de belem that has a pie-like thick crust with the same filling. This one is a dry dense crust, not soft & flaky as the original. Not my preference honestly. Now the chocolate topped pastry can be a heavy solo meal haha... It's got 3 layers: custard, a light cream & thick chocolate. It also got a pie-like thick crust. I like simplicity tho And lastly, there is pastry that is shaped like the nata but is a hefty dense rice pudding-like cake with cinnamon dust... it's got areas of dryness but in the center is somewhat moist. I'm not a fan of rice puddings, but if you are this could be a thing for you! Each can ALLLLL be paired nicely with a nice hot latte no matter what the weather, like today it was 90 degrees & got a hot latte that is helping me down this whole box myself bahaha cheers to a fat Kat!

Lovely neighborhood joint with great Portuguese egg tarts. That's the only thing I tried. During the pandemic they had several tables for outdoor seating not sure how it is lately because of winter weather. $1.50 per egg tart.

Ever since I got back from Lisbon, Portugal, I've been craving some Pastel de Nata. Being in Newark, there is a Portuguese neighborhood with many bakeries to be had. So I am on a Pastel de Nata tour! This one is my second stop. I like the Pastel de Nata here slightly better but still not a home run, probably a triple. A solid joint that I could return to if I lived nearby. I'm on a quest for that custard cinnamon taste, and I still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.

One of the best local Portuguese bakeries in the Ironbound. Their tosta mista (ham and cheese sandwich) was probably the closest thing that resembled the best tosta mista I've had in my life which was is in Porto. They also have an assortment of fresh bread, sweet pastries, and meat pastries. The ladies behind the counter are super sweet. There may be limited seating as this place is always packed, especially on the weekends.

    A teeny, tiny, perfect espresso.

It came on a mollete roll that was crispy on the outside, and everything worked well together. Definitely my favorite thing I got. The pastel de nata was also solid -- nice light, crispy crust with a smooth, creamy filling. The Brazilian cheese bread (3 for $1) wasn't great though. It was chewy but it didn't taste fresh, so it wasn't crispy and ended up being kind of dense. Same with the beef empanada ($2.99) -- I'd probably skip it. The filling was dry, crumbly, and didn't have much flavor, just plain ground beef. Overall, I won't be back in New Jersey anytime soon, but coming from California it felt really cheap for a local spot. If I do come back, I'd probably try a different place.

I placed a cake order a week before my birthday photoshoot and provided a clear reference photo plus detailed instructions to the baker, Elizabeth, over phone and text. I even came in person to pay a $20 deposit because I wasn't comfortable giving my card over the phone. What I requested was simple: A white, heart-shaped cake with pearls, curtain detailing, black bows, and elegant black cursive writing that said "Chapter 30." Unfortunately, what I received looked nothing like what I asked for. * Photo 1: What I asked for * Photo 2: First attempt -- extremely disappointing * Photo 3: Second attempt -- still not what I asked for When I came to pick up the cake, I was visibly disappointed. The tall male supervisor apologized and told me, "I'll see if we can fix it. Please come back in the morning." I explained how inconvenient it was to come three separate times for one cake: once for the deposit, once for pickup, and again because of their poor quality. He assured me that the supervisor, Corrine, would call me the next morning about the revision and compensation for the inconvenience. That call never came. On the morning of my photoshoot, I had to call THEM to find out if the cake had even been fixed. Corrine sent a photo of the revised cake, and it still looked unprofessional. She said I would receive a refund if I remained unhappy -- yet I never received my apology, and I still never received my $20 refund. I'm sharing this review so others are aware. This bakery used to represent quality, but clearly that standard no longer exists. After showing the photos to friends and family, several revealed they've had similar disappointing experiences recently as well. The most embarrassing part? My mother named me after this bakery because of its reputation and legacy in Newark. After this experience, that association feels more embarrassing than meaningful. Calandra's bakery, do better. Your long-time loyal customers deserve far more respect and care than this.

The hosts Ooooed and Awwwed over the size of them & the unique flavors and when we would normally never pay 5$ a piece for chocolate, we thought they looked like a deal given the "size" and unique flavors. [12 pieces for $59.95] What was delivered was a joke! The total weight of the chocolates was approximately 8 ounces. That made them $120 a pound. They were simply packed loosely in a shipping box, so the box of truffles was shook and shaken all the way to our house and they looked terrible by the time they arrived. So an F for shipping. And the size, well as you can see they were nowhere as large as what was presented, as some were not even large enough to fill the space allowed in their packaging! For the most part they were smaller than a Lindor truffle. So another F for actual portion size in relation to what as presented on QVC. Finally the taste.... There was none. We tries 3, and they had NO real taste. I described them as eating Play Dough...just a weird putty texture. And the killer is 2 of the 3 we tried were hollow and you could see the seam where they constructed them. Yes...a BIG FAT "F" for taste!! We tried to return them and QVC didnt even want them back... So we put them where they belonged...in the TRASH. I welcome the owners of this establishment to prove to us what they offer is actually worth $120 a pound....
