Baked Nebraska! Spaghetti with loads of meat, and cheese. Red sauce on one half, white sauce on the other.
    Jeff H.

Ever want to escape the business of Lincoln and find some great Italian food in a small, quiet town? Papa D's is the place for you. Although connected to a convenience store, it also has Italian food that is wonderful. I tried the "famed" Baked Nebraska...spaghetti baked in a glass pie plate filled with meats and red sauce on one half, white sauce on the other half. It was unbelievable. Apparently, two Nebraska football players came in for lunch and also got it. It is a TON of food. The prices are also amazing. The Baked Nebraska was the most expensive dinner on the menu, and that was less than $9. The offer many other options too. Spaghetti, pizza, Chicken parm, and other traditional pasta dishes. The ambiance is small townish. It may not be the place for a golden anniversary dinner, but you definitely cannot beat the friendly staff. So much better than rushed Lincoln restaurants that want you to get in and get out. Finally, it appears it is not necessarily a best kept secret, as it was quite busy when we arrived, but we were still able to get in without a wait, and it was actually not very noisy compared to most restaurants these days. I would recommend this golden treasure to anybody who wants to just "get away". Less than 30m from South Lincoln, you will find yourself escaping here more than once!

Delicious full order of Baked Nebraska. Pasta dish with red and white sauce. YUM!!

The cheesy beard is amazing. The pizza itself is ok, it's the best option in the area but could use some work.

Great Pizza! You can also buy the fantastic sauce that they use in their pizzas there. Would highly recommend!

The first glass was very light second was darker. Taste - regular iced tea. Nothing special. Meals were to be served with bread rolls Bread rolls came with my soup Bread rolls were soft and fluffy absolutely delish. The soup was pretty good - just a bit too salty for me i could feel salt granules. My salmon palermo was a tad bit overcooked for me. Still edible but a bit dry. The pasta was also a tad bit overcooked- tried hubby's spaghetti and that was truly al dente. My spaghetti had broccoli and tomatoes in it. And it was pretty nicely seasoned with a splash of tang from lemon juice. Tiramisu was pretty good. I still prefer the traditional tiramisu with just cocoa powder on top. This has chocolate sauce on the top. Not a deal breaker - just my preference Overall, decent meal. Might not be back so soon though coz of hubby's meal. We ordered cocktails and Calamari for our appetizer which was perfectly done and lightly breaded, the best we've ever enjoyed. Tasty homemade rolls with butter and Seasoned Olive Oil came with our creamy soup and salad. The Seafood Alfredo was to die for, the creamy sauce paired perfectly with huge shrimp, mussels, clams and scallops. The creamy brandy sauce that enveloped my husband's order was delightful. Our service was professional and accommodating. We never felt rushed, it was a leisurely dining experience. My only regret is not ordering the Tiramisu with a cup of coffee to make the perfect finish. Next time. The prices are totally reasonable for such delicious offerings. It reminded me of the old Legion Club, The Nebraska Club and Tony and Luigi's. All three of which are terribly missed. Lincoln is so lacking in providing a relaxing, lovely dining experience but now there is one restaurant we will gladly patronize. Thank you to the Chef and to all the kind staff for a memorable evening.

I got the Carsoni (pesto) and did both chicken and shrimp which was $22, it's enough for two meals though so this is fair. The sauce was flavorful, good consistency of oil and basil. Loved that it included mushrooms but could have used more of them in it, also had bell pepper and broccoli. I'm not sure broccoli goes too well with the pesto dish, but it was steamed well and soft. The shrimp were huge and they had 4-5 in the dish. We also did bruschetta as an app, and loved the fresh tomatoes/garlic/herbs on top. Loved the dipping sauce with the bread as im a balsamic/oil freak. The soup was just okay, it was a creamy chicken/potato but it was very pureed and not quite what I was expecting, I'm not sure there was even a chunk of chicken in it. I've definitely had better next time, I'll be inclined to try the salad instead. Drinks were fun, I enjoyed the black raspberry margarita flavor and a limoncello spritz although both appeared a bit too watered down and not too strong. Service was fine, however hard to really judge since we came during mid-day late lunch and I'm pretty sure we were the only table there.

I ordered spaghetti with marinara and a side salad. I specifically asked for no cucumbers, but the salad still came out with them. It's one vegetable I absolutely hate, but I didn't send it back, just wish a little more attention had been paid to that request. The pasta itself wasn't very good. The marinara barely coated the noodles and didn't have much flavor, so I ended up asking for a side of Alfredo just to make it better. Overall, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but the food didn't impress me. The highlight of the experience was definitely the server handling such a large group so well.

The lemon drop martini was great, a little on the south side, which I don't mind. The Caesar salad was a good starter, as were a few appetizers (not pictured) that we started our meal with. I wish I remember the name of my pasta dish, but I don't see it on the full menu. We had a limited menu for the company party, but this was a cavatappi pasta with a white sauce, and I added shrimp to the dish. It was excellent! I also got to try The chicken Parmesan, lasagna, and a few other dishes. All were great for the price point. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for a casual date night, or a group event of any kind!

Hostess was very prompt and we were brought into a private dining room for our dinner Our server Tatum was wonderful. She was very attentive and we enjoyed the service. Tasting menu can be found online and its 185 per person. We ordered ala carte. We ordered Crab sanchetti, grilled octopus, hamachi sashimi, tajarin dala forma and a 48oz steak to share. We had a group of 7. Ambiance was fantastic till the other party of about 10 came into the private room. They were very noisy and not very considerate. Our drinks came promptly. I had a midnight mist, hubby had the raspberry berret. And my mom in law had some red dessert wine. Food was fanstastic. The hamachi sashimi was delicious - super fresh. Oysters were absolutely delish very well shelled. The grilled octopus was tender and not overly cooked. The steak was tender and delicious in the au jus. The mash was whipped and absolutely creamy like cloud. We ordered the 48 oz ribeye steak to share it was delicious and they do slice it up for you so that it is easy to share. The spaghetti tajarin dala forma was made table side and the head of service explained what he was doing step by step. Unfortunately, this experience was marred by our neighbours for the night as they were enjoying themselves too much. The shisito pepper on the mash was nicely crusted and absolutely delish. Even the onion, and green onions were devoured. After that, we ordered dessert. I had the stone fruit chocolate tart and it was decadent. Chocolate with light mint. Absolutely delicious It came with a price tag though. Great for occassions- like birthdays and anniversaries when you want to splurge A wonderful experience! Thank you to all at the Casa Bovina. Definitely a night to remember.
